Item not received....Or was it?....What would you do?

Buyer purchased item on July 28th. Shipped out on the 29th to a post office box. Buyer opens item not received request on August 4th stating item not received as stated and she still wants the item. Tracking shows that item was delivered to parcel locker in her correct city, state, zip code on August 2nd.

I responded to the request with the tracking information # and a copy of  the tracking information and asked her to check with her post office.  It has been two days. The case has not closed. Says I have until the 10th to resolve. These used to close automatically I believe when you provided tracking that shows item delivered.  Should I do nothing and waiting for it to time out knowing that it "SHOULD" close in my favor since it shows item was delivered? Contact the buyer to see if she contacted her post office to inquire about item and ask her to close case if she received her item? Anyone have any experience with this under new managed payments?

Item not received....Or was it?....What would you do?

@stuff4divas  Hi All......This is what transpired. As you can see the last option I have is to ask ebay to step in and help......Seems like the easiest step to have to take at this point. Whether it is the wisest remains to be seen.

I’d do it just to end the commotion. The buyer can deal with appeals if they want to. As for your obligation to the buyer, it’s been 100% fulfilled. Might as well get your money back and not let it sit there in eBay limbo.

I believe you upload/enter delivery info and tracking number into the dispute. Don't rely on Ebay capturing the info itself (assuming you bought postage on the site).

Your buyer lost patience very quickly - it might be she realizes she has the item now, but does not realize she has created a worry for you. If she does nothing, and you have proof of delivery entered into the dispute, the whole thing will time out.

Recently it has taken 16-21 business days for INR cases to close, even after you leave tracking.

I would definitely not contact the Buyer again.

@royalprincessdesigns

I'd not worry that it was received. I'd rely on the information that it was delivered... that's what the seller is bound to.

Good luck.

Item not received....Or was it?....What would you do?

@mtgraves7984 @fashionsandbeauty4u  Here's something interesting. 2 days later I get another item not received case. Funds put on hold. Buyer wants their money back. Tracking shows that the item departed original facility but no other tracking existed. Uploaded tracking number to the case after I filed a missing package claim along with the package claim number and message to buyer. Two days later the package was found and delivered to the buyer. Ebay sends message stating: Your package has been delivered. Waits 24 hours, closes the case and releases the funds.

The first case mentioned in this posting is still UNRESOLVED. Even though the tracking information I uploaded clearly shows the item was delivered to the parcel box. States I had until the 10th to resolve. Still nothing. Funds still on hold. Do I ask ebay to step in or just continue to wait?

If tracking showed delivered prior the the case finding for the buyer appeal the case.

For that mater try appealing the case any way.

Wait it out. eBay usually takes 21 business days (yes- a month) to close out an INR. The reason your other one closed right away is because it was delivered after the INR was opened. They don't close out instantly when delivered before the INR was opened because eBay figures that a buyer opening a claim after there's a delivery scan means the buyer is saying they didn't receive their package when they should have. That's different from something that's in transit and hasn't arrived yet.

Opening an INR after there's a delivery scan signifies a problem, so eBay gives the buyer time to prove they haven't received it. This stemmed from those sellers that use the ship-garbage-to-a-random-address-in-the-buyer's-zip-code scam. Those buyers need to get proof from USPS that it was delivered to a different address which can take time.

@donsdetour The second case was closed in my favor. No issues there. The first case which is under this posting is still open and I am baffled as to why. I have the option of asking ebay to step in. They SHOULD close it in my favor, but you never know these days. Should I poke the bear and ask them to step in since tracking shows it was delivered?

Your first request went to Derek, who is playing videogames  cause he's working from home and no one is checking on him. Your case is at the bottom of his In Box.

Your second went to LaTesha who has three jobs, five kids, and delivers Meals on Wheels for her church on Saturdays. LaTesha don't mess around, she's got stuff to do.

Yes, I made that up. But it's as good a theory as any about why some disputes end fast and some take forever.

@femmefan1946 Lol.  True that. But would you test fate and ask ebay to step in or just wait? Not in any dire need for the cash. Just miffed.

@royalprincessdesigns- Read my above post to see why one closed and the other is still open.

The current case should automatically close in 21 business days in your favor. Here's a screenshot from one of my INRs-

When given the opportunity to ask ebay to step in with INRs (tracking shows delivered), I have ebay step in every time. There's no use letting it drag as you are protected... your money is being held up for no reason of yours.

If the buyer needs more time and is trying to work with ebay to prove the package was in fact not delivered to their address, they can do that after the INR is closed with the appeals department.

I never message the buyer to close the case out. I'd rather ebay force the closure in my favor... avoids the possibility of the buyer leaving a not so nice feedback.

Those are key words. It's been a very long time since I've seen the ability to ask eBay to step in on an INR. Since they made the change to not close out INRs early- I've been forced to wait the 21 business days on every claim. There hasn't been an ask eBay to step in option for me.

Maybe I misunderstood the OP- I said to wait it out because I assumed she'd have to get CS on chat or something to attempt an escalation. If she has the option to ask eBay to step in through the case then that changes things. But like I said- I haven't seen that option in a year or two.
