Is there a new procedure for INRs?

I had a INR today.

The item was purchased on November 1st.

Shipped on November 2nd.

Tracking shows delivered on November 6th.

Today the buyer opens a INR and in the case says:

"Package was sent to wrong address. Has the merchandise been returned? If so, please send to..."

I went to respond to the case, like always, but this time the tracking was already filled in,

so it wouldn't let me update the case with a tracking number like i usually do.

It would let me respond with a comment.

"No, the package was not returned. The tracking shows it was delivered on November 6th to the address you provided."

Is this something new?

eBay is betting the seller won't upload the info, again, or not respond at all. They have it figured out what percentage they will save by making the seller jump through some extra nonsense hoops.  It's kind of like gift cards. A large percentage lose them, let them expire, or don't even use them. Easy cash for the gift card business.

I don't think that is true.  Sellers have very good protection on INRs when tracking shows delivered as long as the seller followed the rules to be covered by Seller Protection and most do.

Yea I think it's something new. I had this exact same thing on 11/14 and noticed it was different. I didn't re-upload the tracking and just sent a message to ask for them to type out their complete shipping address to me. 

That way I get a record of me replying and sometimes the address I get in reply is different from the one I sent, so it'll slam dunk my win even more. In my case, the buyer didn't reply and asked ebay to step in. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

Yes it is, but we've always had to do it anyway.

 

Allegedly because the dispute "team" (be they bots or humans) didn't have access to the tracking on our sales orders?

If a buyer reports that an item hasn't arrived

If you ship an item within your stated handling time, and you upload tracking before the estimated delivery date from one of eBay's integrated shipping carriers that shows evidence of successful delivery, you won't be responsible for refunding the buyer.

So if tracking was not uploaded BEFORE the estimated delivery date you will lose.

I can certainly confirm this.  It is very confusing, so my recommendation is just take a moment and enter the tracking number.  It doesn't make any sense to do it since the system already has it, but then there are many things on Ebay that seem to fall in this category.

Yes you certainly could.  That is the way I read it too.  The policy has read this way for many years.
