Yes. Although certain answers on google ..... will say otherwise. Facebook marketplace is still the number one platform, aside from selling locally. Now if your just selling Chinese knockoffs ,then ebay may still be an ok place to sell. But for an individual, part time seller, or hustler, its the absolute worst. ebays numbers have ONLY went down consistently for around 5 years now, maybe longer. But I'm sure that if you're searching this,it's because you've noticed your 0 views and 0 sales, right? Personally I barely list anything on the platform anymore, there's really no use. Especially when ebay is not even close to being the #1 selling platform. Things like Etsy and Facebook marketplace are killing it,where as ebay.... Is being killed. But it's mostly the fault of the people who run ebay, not yours. Although people will tell you that's it's my fault,or you're fault,it's clearly not. Nobody likes ebay anymore, and ebay doesn't like you. Items that sold in the hundreds daily, will never get views or sales, especially if you don't use promoted listings. But they sell locally and on other platforms constantly. My listed video game console gets 4 views in a month on ebay, while it gets sold immediately in person. Daily. But years ago on ebay,it would also sell immediately. People don't suddenly dislike video games,or retro games,or consoles. My pictures aren't suddenly horrible, and my pricing is still spot on. So how is this even happening? Because ebay is a dead platform. You're better off having a yard sale or getting a booth at a local vendor mall. That's how I've been mainly selling for the last year and its great. Not everyone has that luxury though. But yes ,don't worry, ebay is still dying it's slow death. It's going down with disney ,AAA gaming, "mainstream" news, streaming services. All things that you probably think are making millions right? Wrong, some of them are infact losing billions.(Not all companies or games are this bad,I understand) Yes,these companies and platforms are not successful. Meaning no,they do not make money. This includes ebay. Thats not to say that money isn't coming in to these companies,it's to say that they are bleeding more than they have, struggling to stay above a yearly loss or worse numbers than the year before(consistently),and failing miserably. Even twitch, the largest video/gaming platform where some of their users make millions each years. They are losing money, even though video games are a 150 billion dollar industry. Disney lost billions last year, and the year before, and the year before...Numbers have tanked, and are still consistently tanking here at ebay. Woke is broke, dinosaurs are out of touch, and scammy practices are being out more often and more swiftly today. Nobody is falling for the **bleep** anymore and people are smarter than these ceos think. Google lies about these things, news outlets regurgitate the same garbage, and ebay trolls will be here to tell you otherwise.

I buy on MP a whole lot and have encountered some massive suspicion. I get it about scammers but if selling is so scary why bother? My attempts to sell have never really panned out. Someone will express interest then disappear once I point out when I live (which is in the listing if they read).

The Community forums are where ordinary buyers and sellers discuss topics. You cannot reach eBay here for account decisions, let alone 6 pages into an opinion thread that started 3 months ago.

Been a high volume seller since 2021 and have seen sales steadily decline even though I sell a mixture of items. the economy 100% has a lot to do with it. Also, EBAY has changed since the CEO was changed in 2020 to a Walmart COO who is now the Ebay CEO. He is running it like Walmart and through time has made gradual changes the past 4 years that are not customer service friendly and everyone knows Walmart isn't an Ecommerce retailer. Their main revenue is from their storefronts. This guy is taking away the customer service experience for both the buyer and the seller which is hurting the platform. He isn't customer driven and with EBAY, everyone is a customer because they do not provide the inventory we the sellers do. The sellers are the most important people on this platform because without inventory you have no buyers or revenue PERIOD. When he took away whatever budget they had to care about people it made Ebay a less desirable experience.
Im already looking into moving to Amazon and WhatNot.
Also, its hilarious to me when buyers who have never sold squat on Ebay attempt to come into seller posts like they know anything about what we go through.

there are too many items for sale on ebay........the algorithm cannot show all the items.............there is where the problem lies.....................i was looking for a multi meter with frequency function.........all i was shown were china items....2 to 4 week shipping.......for 3 weeks........then all of a sudden, a us seller listings shows up for a new $10 meter w/ frequency ..................free shipping......received in 3 days.........3 weeks!..............so too many items and an ebay romance with china.....................

Best review I've seen about the 2024 eBay "promotion" scam (and their trolls who belittle customers who complain). As an experiment I posted a new auto stereo on eBay without paying the extra fee for promoting it. I offered it for much less than the lowest price, which in the old days would have brought a quick sale. Lowest price sells, right? Not on eBay: after a month I have had no views while higher priced listiongs of the very same item have sold. So, to me it is clear that eBay is playing an extortion game, blocking sale of my item by hiding it until I come up with the protection, I mean promotion, money.

I think that was a rhetorical comment.
The rent situation is a real sin, though.

Not necessarily. If you price something TOO low, often people won't even look at it because they'll assume there's something wrong with it for you to be pricing it so far below the average market value.

There's also not a direct cause and effect when it comes to purchasing. The entire process is filtered through the human mind which runs on all sorts of odd variables, preconceptions, quirks, etc., and differs depending on the person, their experience and the like. There's as much art as science when it comes to sales.

There is nothing funny or hilarious about someone speaking out of turn, when one thinks they know something when they do not.
Before jumping to another conclusion:
my experience includes being a 15 yr. eBay seller, certified retail marketer for 43 years, university degree in Fashion Promotion with a minor in Journalism, graduate study as well.
This is my posting ID. I use it instead of my selling ID to protect my account from those who may take exception to something i post. Sadly, there are some rare lost souls who would buy something in order to trash feedback or seriously damage an account in response.
I wish i could be braver like many here who choose to write under their selling IDs. But— like with anything posted here—the reader still must decide if what i share has value to them, if any.
A posting ID may not be ideal, it may limit one’s credibility, but it is how i can safely participate. So before assuming a poster knows nothing, consider otherwise.

great idea i should do that because im sure the powers that be at ebay get butthurt over people posting honest responses so they take it out on their sellers accounts by messing with our accounts in a negative manner.

eBay is dead. Poor customer service. Poor updates that screw up eBay algorithm searches. Hardly any views or Watcher. Its dying slowly. Most user who claims high volume on their sales are $10-20 dollar items on this thread. Any item over $50 or $100 will tank even at lowest offer. Before it would only take a few days before sold or at most 1 week. Now the item would sit forever even if you adjusted your whole inventory dropping prices by $5-$1.
The op is correct about Facebook Marketplace and Other platforms are killing it. The thing about Facebook marketplace to make sales.
Allow Shipping (Fees are lower than eBay) Payout may be a bit slower than eBay.
(This tactic applies to certain items) (Popular items or Rare Item)
Prices need to be a little Cheaper than eBay
(Depend on the item and how many listed) (I always do a little cheaper)
Local pickup
Items That can't be sold on Ebay from high fees or shipping problems etc
(Mark down the prices) Medical items that can't be sold on eBay are selling good on Marketplace or other license items you accidentally purchase and realize it too late.
Sometimes I will send the customer to ebay for the purchase if shipping is required. Most of the time it is local shipping because they don't want to drive 1 hour away to pick it up.
I sold many high value items from vintage toys to electronics and license items that can't be sold on ebay or take time through marketplace.

like you and cahpeau-noir on every post possible while contradicting people opinion daily while spamming people original account?

Another feedback user that has bragging rights about their feedback. Dude you're making on average of $15.00 sales and your sales consist of $10-$25. After fees you're making barely anything. Stop with the show boating. One of my items is your whole page listing. I required only to shipped 1 item and how many how many items required to shipped and do massive work on listing and packing
