The screenshot shows the details of the transaction. How much is the full refund of this item? There were tax, shipping and transaction fees involved. If the seller refunds the full amount paid by the buyer, the seller is losing money on this transaction. Am I looking at this correctly?

you are correct - if the seller refunds they lose money.
taxes are refunded by eBay.
IF the seller refunds without eBay having to step in, the seller will get the FVF refunded.
Some fees are not refundable...
BUT the seller will still lose all the shipping paid

Some of it depends on the reason for the refund.

So, a full refund would be the amount the item sold for at the end of the auction? This amount would be $293.00 in this case.

The buyer states that the item does not function correctly. I thoroughly tested the item prior to shipment and it worked correctly.

If it is Not As Described -
You will need to fully refund what the buyer paid.
Item and Shipping.
eBay will refund the tax.

Does not matter what a seller thinks about an item if the buyer files a return case with an Item Not As Described return reason.
Buyer wins.

The buyer states that the item does not function correctly.
And that is the crux of it. If they claim it isn't working, it isn't. Even if you had tested it before hand.
I found this out over a year ago. I sold a tablet that I had tested and had it marked as no returns. They got it, and found the charging jack had issues. I had them send it back, I paid for the shipping and refunded in full. I later relisted it as parts only and described as working but having issues and sold it for nearly as much as the first listing.
But complaining about it won't help you. Shipping could have hurt it, they could be lying. But they can send the item back for a refund.
You are far better off to just take care of it then fight it. Fighting it will only hurt you, not them.

Hi @jacreekmore
Even though tested prior to shipping, there are no guarantees that it arrived still in working order. Things happen in transit, even to items well packaged. Could be user error, too.
I find most buyers are honest, and therefore i give them the benefit of the doubt on returns. Fewer issues that way, better buyer-seller relations.

Please help. In round numbers I owe buyer 1800 for return. eBay deposited 1600 in my bank account. When I get the return how much do I owe. Sorry the fees from the sale are confusing. Thx!

Your buyer paid $1,828.20 for the auction, plus $25.00 for shipping. So you will have to refund $1853.20 when you get the item back. eBay will refund the sales tax, if any. However, you may have to cover the sales tax as well, briefly, until eBay processes the refund.
Why is the tea set being returned? Did the buyer say it is damaged, or not as described in some way? In that case, you will have to pay for the return shipping as well. If it was a "buyer remorse" reason, then the buyer will pay for the return shipping because that is how your return policy is set up.
As long as you accepted the return, and the buyer did not ask eBay to "step in and help", then you will get a credit for the final value fees that eBay charged. Be sure to refund promptly when eBay tells you to, to make sure you get the fee credit. If there were any promotional fees, I don't believe those are credited back to you.

So I refund total and then wait for fee refund? Small glitch.....buyer purchased and I set 5 items. They are returning 4 as they claim one was lost due to open box and damage to other pieces. Is there a way for me to recoup the loss of one piece and not lose the fee refund? Thx! I realize if buyer balks at my return that is less than full price. eBay will step in and I'll get nothing. Thx for your help. This has been a physical and mental nightmare for me. Losing a sale and having damaged goods returned is a tough pill to swallow.

If it's a remorse return, the seller doesn't have to refund the original shipping payment of $25 since it's charged separately (i.e., not free shipping).

Promotional standard fees are refunded but not immediately like final value fees are.
