On a recent gift card sale, the buyer was charged sales tax. Gift cards are not subject to sales tax. Has anyone else had this happen?

Tax was collected because you listed it as collectibles and art, rather than as a functional gift card.

I don't see any recent sales of gift cards on your account. However, you have this listing offering gift cards in the "Collectible" category, which is supposed to be for "Collectible gift cards with no redemption value, as long as the listing specifies that there's no monetary amount on the card".

"Collectible" gift cards have no monetary value and are being sold as collectibles, not redeemable, so if the buyer's state charges sales tax on collectibles then the purchase is taxable.

My mistake. Thanks for pointing out the error in listing category.
