I'm planning to list some items for sale and I'm wondering if there's a limit on how many times per day I can relist the same items? I want to refresh my listings every few hours, or at least once per day, so that I will always be at the top of "new item" searches. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm sure there is a software tool that does this. Thanks for the help!

Correct, so sellers are free to spam the "new listings" as much as they want. That's my point.

I can see in the future a rule change once eBay sees this happening. Rules are never created until something happens that they don't like. Just because there is no rule now you can bet there will be one if this type of behavior has negative results for the overall benefit of eBay

Regardless of whether you were actually planning to do this yourself as you originally stated, or were seeing another seller doing it and you were against it as you said later, it's really just a waste of time to pursue that strategy. The same time could be better spent producing more listings for more items.
Although you said that you've seen (and reported) another seller who's doing that, it's not a viable strategy anyway, and it's not something that's occurring widely for the reasons previously stated.

Sounds like a lot of work for nothing gained.

You can 'spam' your listings only to find you have NO SALES!!
After all, the goal here is to GET sales.
So, it really does NOT matter what 'another seller that knows nothing about nothing' is doing.

Terrible idea. Of the 5 filters in the drop down box for searches New Listings is the one that buyers are least likely to use. I am not sure if I ever used that option in 25 years of using ebay and I do hundreds of searches a day.
The only people searching for new listings are looking for pricing errors or extremely underpriced items. If you are pricing your items correctly then they aren't selling off a new listings search.

Seriously? I'm doing regular searches in my buying account, and it only makes sense to order by Newly Listed in order to see the new stuff as it comes in. After all, I've already seen everything else; I don't need to wade through all that again in the hopes of maybe spotting something new in the midst of all that. Put the new stuff on top, and then I can quickly move on to my next search if there's nothing new of interest.
That's why it's so irritating to be stuck with "Best Match" as the default sort order in the mobile app. I can lock in the Newly Listed choice in the desktop view, but in mobile I have to keep resetting it there when starting a new round of searches.

I agree with @a_c_green I use newly listed on a daily basis for over 25 saved searches. Like @a_c_green said I've already seen everything in that category or key word search and am only interested in seeing what has been newly listed in the past 24 hours. It's how I find d those truly rare items that I'm looking for.

Why in the world would you want to do all that work? What do you think you are gaining?
Careful, duplicate listings are not allowed.

The other have said it very clearly. My advice is… if you’re looking for a sell fast- you’re going about it the wrong way. eBay is kinda a “long game” kinda money making tool. Facebook marketplace is more of a “my bill is due tomorrow and I need the money today.”
with ebay you cannot make multiple listings of the same product. While it’s true with eBay “the more you list, the more you sell,” concept is true - it actually does not allow you to make identical listings for items. With good reason.

1. Didn't find your idea while searching eBays sellers best practices in the Help and Contact section (top of your Overview page)
2. As a buyer I often add items to my watch list before I make a buy decision. You just may lose more business than you think you will gain should you frequently "renew" your listing.
3. Would think this would be a futile, boring exercise that would lead to frequent mistakes
4. I you know some one that does this and says it works great - never knew someones idea was said to be a bad thing.

I agree, ebay is selling top search placement it surprises me that they have not already stopped this.
I hardly ever search using best match but does ebay still give a best match bump to new listings?

In 24 years...
As a buyer I have never searched for "newly listed" items.
As a seller I have never ended a listing just to re-list it so it will be "fresh".

Your listings will always be at the bottom of 'ending soonest' searches.

I would never attempt this for the simple reason that I would never be able to keep it straight.
When I list something I put a label on said item with the ebay number on it.
I am a proponent of list it "good till canceled" store it and forget about it till it sells.
