How are everyone's sales this October?

Our sales are unusually low. Anyone else? Listing Christmas items this week and trying to get into the Holiday spirit. Anyone else?

Re: How are everyone's sales this October?

I have 800 items, 2 months ago I was selling 5 to 9 items a day, usually in the low 20's over the weekends.  This weekend I sold one thing Saturday and... nothing today.  This is not an outlier though.  My sales fell off a cliff a week and a half ago when I made a huge sale to one person.  I also sell on another site; I cherry pick the best from my ebay store and post it there (so they're in both stores) I also charge more over there.  Guess what?  I'm selling them there FOR MORE and having to de-list the items here as they sell there.  This is insane.  I post 6 to 8 items a day... and still, crickets.  So no, eBay is no bueno for me right now.  Thank gawd I don't count on this for my income or I'd be panicking.

My sales are dead in the water.  So far 1 for the month.  I get lots of  interested buyers, and a few watchers but no takers.  Any responses to my offers are 1/4 to 1/3 of the asking price.

Hoping for good sales for all.

Re: How are everyone's sales this October?

Oh geez, is that a thing? My sales absolutely tanked at the end of last month, after an issue eBay had to help me with and I was wondering if that was the cause. It's been so unusually bad that I've become concerned and have to rely on another platform to get sales. I thought it was PL related instead after I got a weird message saying my campaign ended when I know it hadn't, I still had impressions from it. Had no idea there was something else going on with PL. I restarted a new campaign a couple days ago, seems to have helped slightly but my stats are still pretty awful compared to before. I was getting 25+ sales per 30 days at one point in September, including 11 days in a row with at least a sale. I finally thought things were getting better. Currently I'm at 9 sales per the past 30 days and haven't had a sale here in a week, but I've been selling consistently elsewhere.

eBay has had so many serious glitches the past few months that greatly affect our sales and piece of mind being on this site (referring to the horrid accept a counter-offer glitch that popped up every few seconds for weeks). They really need to get it together.

Yes, feeling the pain.  Sales have been slower, thinking people are preparing for the worst with this being an election year.

Hopfully Christmas inventory will pick things up a bit.  I'm getting ready to dig into listing Christmas myself.

Just an FYI ebay is choosing the winners and loosers on their site.    Pay them 30% of your sales and things will improve.....cant afford it? Too bad. This is the way they function now.

Re: How are everyone's sales this October?

Promoted listings benefit ebay and no one else.  Those who pay for them are part of the problem and are still being robbed by ebay while hurting all of the other sellers on this site.  That I have to see advertisements for other stores atop all of my listings is appalling.

Re: How are everyone's sales this October?

We agree! It is getting harder on here and its so much more work than the earlier days.  The delist/relist thing and messing with the algorithm. Paying for clicks and promoting. It is just all getting to be too much.

Our sales now are barely making it a week on eBay to keep going. We are listing and doing what we can for the 4th quarter. But, honestly we are putting way more hours in than it is getting to be worth.

Thankfully doing more as well. I hope it improves for all of us trying to make a living.

Bless you all.

Horrifically atrocious. I don’t think I could give my items away on eBay at this point lol.

Re: How are everyone's sales this October?

All the changes they've made all summer have ruined my sales.  Went from 1200-1500 a week to 380 this week. I ended all my high prices items and sent them to auction , one of those items sold for 1300 and it had been on eBay for 8 months priced at 400, another item sold for 750 and I had it on eBay for a year priced at 200. Lesson, not even going to bother with eBay for high price items anymore, just not worth it. Seems eBay is just too busy "improving" the site to actually get real tech issues fixed. sending offers is broken, performance tabs not working, tracking still disappears after uploading and promoted listings isn't working properly.

Re: How are everyone's sales this October?

Still chugging. I'm a tad frustrated because sales are good (I'm really small time so that means like 2-3 a day) but in three days I'll be outta here, and sending a lot of my inventory to consignments or just gone. In the spring I'll see if I come back.

Agree that ebay has a lot of tech debt, and the site is old and creaky.

Re: How are everyone's sales this October?

Our sales are down compared to last month, but up compared to this time last year.  Which is normal.  No one should freak out over month-to-month changes, always look at your year-over-year.

Also, we ended all our promoted listing campaigns a while ago, and haven't really seen any drop in sales due to that, so the idea that you have to pay to promote in order to get sales is definitely untrue.

@toujoursladybug  My sales absolutely tanked at the end of last month, after an issue eBay had to help me with

Did that issue mean you had lower sales during the period of the issue?

Because low sales lead to lower Visibility.

My "test" account, which I expect to have low sales will go a month or more with nothing then have two or three sales in a week, then back to nothing.

When I add more listings to that account, I also seem to get more Visibility and more sales.

But very definitely success leads to visibility.

Sell anything and you get more visibility and more sales which leads to more visibility.

The only way I know to boost visibility is to list more.

While I use PL, I use it only to bring customers to my Store where they can browse my listings.

Hmm- something I haven't seen mentioned. I put a link to my Store in my Descriptions.

Makes it easier for the discerning customer (the one that can actually read) to find my Store.
