How about letting Sellers determine how long Sent Offers will last?

Why not allow sellers to defermine how long their offers on items to buyers will last?

Why force it to be 4 days now, tying up any changes a seller can make on an item unless they end it?

Let it be a seller controlled setting.  1 day, 2 days, 3 days, or 4 days.  Not that hard.  4 days is generally way too long, and it really doesn't help someone decide to take the offer.

I'm not even going to tell you the reason eBay gave because it's that dumb.

I agree sellers should be given a choice of 48 hours or 96 hours.

I completely agree that the seller should have that right, However don't forget we are on ebay & we do not get much say so at all on anything.

I agree wholeheartedly but, mine was even longer than that! almost 2 weeks after I sent an offer of $399.99 on a $425.00 item it sold and I was surprised when checkout showed the offer price was paid. I have no idea what I did wrong here but can't really find a way to contact the ebay Gods.

Now I really wanna know...

And I agree, a choice would be nice, though we know that's not how eBay usually works for us sellers.

Next thing you know, sellers will be demanding things like transparency and integrity from eBay.

It's a very slippery slope.

Oh my... I must have missed that when it was posted before.  That's very dumb.

Based on many posts I see here on the selling board, many eBay sellers have unrealistic expectations about buyers. They seem to think that buyers are hanging around their keyboards, waiting to pounce on any communication from a seller. IMHO, most buyers pay only a fraction of the attention to an eBay transaction that the seller does, because it is not the focus of their lives.

I would guess that eBay wants buyers to have as predictable and uniform an experience as possible when it comes to offers, because that leads to better understanding of the site and its expectations. If that is their intent and rationale, I would tend to agree with it.

Agree 100%.  I wish they would poll the sellers before they make these ridiculous decisions without sellers knowledge.  This year has been hard enough!

@luckythewinner Only sellers are obsessively on their computers, waiting for bids, messages, etc!

You might check to see if the option to send automatic offers is activated on your offer screen.  It is a toggle & ebay set it on me & I didn't notice it at first.  This will send your initial offer to new watchers without you doing it yourself.
