Holiday rant.

I can't believe all the ranting about the new messaging system.

I get it. You don't like it.

Just like every other change you didn't like on ebay, you'll get used to it.

You may  even learn to like it.

People have complained about every single change on ebay for the past 20+ years.

If ebay listened to all the complainers, we would still be operating like we were in the 90s.

If you view this as a standalone, isolated incident, you've a point.

If you take it in context of ebay as it is altogether right now, you need to understand the underlying context.

The issue is ebay does all these changes nobody asks for or demands, expects pats on the back, while ignoring and not fixing the numerous and increasing system problems occurring that people are pointing out to them and asking and begging them to fix.

Right now the ebay site is a seriously ill patient, we're the concerned relatives, and the company leaders are the doctor.  They come in and say "hey, we just gave him an eyebrow lift, look how great he looks now, isn't that so much better?"  We're all sitting around saying "but his kidneys are failing.  No one asked for an eyebrow lift, take care of his kidneys!"

Thats why people keep having these issues and posting about them, because ebay doesn't get it, people like you still don't appear to get it, and instead are continual apologists for ebay, who, still, doesn't get it.

 Seriously ill? With the exception of a temporary glitch, ebay works flawlessly for me, day in and day out. I'm able to conduct business daily. Ebay deposits funds into my account daily.

Ok, so I went back to the messaging (to give it a chance) clicked on the box next to a sellers name and nothing happens...what next?  What is supposed to happen, where is an 'enter' button...help!

Love that the arrow is a very faint bar that I can barely see...stumbled upon it by accident.  Not very nice to the 'older' people here.  And how do I tell when there is a new message?  Maybe my Prevegen will kick in so I can tell the latest message, lol.

@moondogblues why are you clicking on a box? That is used when you want to do something with those messages, which 'what you can do' is shown directly above (move, save, archive, delete etc.) 

 

What you are SUPPOSED to do is just click the message- and then ALL messages you've had with this person will show on the right side large pane (where you can then just 'mouse' down to see all, if needed (using the mouse wheel is easiest).

That would be a good idea - yes. The OP looked like maybe an attempt at joking except that there are genuine problems with the new software that are causing genuine problems for sellers trying to communicate with buyers and vice versa.

That's a huge issue for some.

What problems? 


Confusing interface - no ability to Reply With Offer - no ability to edit or delete folders... They did finally fix the inability to CC your own email. In general they were replacing a working interface with one that was incomplete and buggy. No announcements - no explanation - no sign that the new version was even written by people who used the platform. 'Complaining about complainers' is silly anyway since this is a forum intended to help other users.
