A buyer (member for many years and buyer feedback over 100) messages me asking about the shipping price of one of my items (that currently has shipping at 2.95) to lower it because the item is very light... telling me to just do regular shipping. This item currently sells well, about 3-4 a day.
I reply that the shipping price stands firm and ask what does he mean by “regular shipping”. He responds that 2.95 is expensive for a light item. I reply that packages that weigh even under 1 ounce has a postage price of just under 3 and up to 4. He comes back telling me he doesn’t think so... many sellers have free shipping. And postage should be 50 cents. He tells me to stop BSing him and he wasn’t born yesterday.
I send a final message correcting him saying he’s probably thinking about a 55 cent forever stamp for letters (buyers love to round down a lot when quoting low prices). Parcels start at just under $3 and have tracking numbers. And sellers with free shipping incorporate the shipping cost (not free) into the item. He replies by calling me a crook among other names... saying he can understand $3 shipping if the item weighed 2 lbs. He then says he’ll never buy from me and he’s going to write me a bad review because I’ve been ripping buyers off with this $3 shipping price.
I’m not even going to continue to correct his deluded idea of shipping prices and weights anymore. But I wonder, this guy has bought over 100 items on eBay and still has this totally off view on shipping. Please don’t tell me this is his way of trying to negotiate.

It sounds like he is or totally uninformed. Sounds like he has no clue that items with Free Shipping already have the cost of shipping built into the items price. He gravitated to yours because the item price was lower than those with Free Shipping.
I would maybe send him a screen shot of postage prices. Also inform him that you do not just put a stamp on the item because that offers no tracking therefore no protection. I also didn't see anything in your listings that could even be shipped that way.
Anyway he can not leave you a "bad review" if he doesn't buy anything. I frankly would have already blocked him right after sending him some educational materials on shipping prices both for my light item and for the 2 pound item he thinks can be shipped for $3.00.

Save yourself the headache stop communicating and block him so he can not buy from you. He has already said he will give you bad feedback if he does, you don't need that.
When I get those types of questions I just ignore and don't answer. There is no winning if you get into a back and forth.

Lot of people( buyers) don't actually know it cost as much as it does to ship unless they ship themselves. I blame it on all the free shipping you see, people just don't realize it is rolled into the price.
I have stated this before but I was behind a lady at the post office shipping shoes back to an ebay seller and she had $2 in her hand. she couldn't believe it when the clerk told her it was $10 and some change. She actually thought $2 was enough and was even hoping to get some change back. she had to get a credit card out to pay and she griped about not even paying that much for them. I tried to talk her out of returning them but she insisted she wanted her $9 back. she couldn't understand she was farther ahead to put them in the donation box across the street, give them away or sell them for .50 at a rummage sale. she needed her $9 back. Whatever, you cannot teach everyone in a few seconds. I often wonder if she figured out what I tried telling her?
I also get questioned about shipping from other people that know I am a reseller and they always think they are getting scammed at the post office when they decide to send a care package or gift to someone. They just don't realize it until they actually ship something themselves.
You have a good day crook, I mean Big deal. Hope you have a profitable day today.

stop ripping off on shipping, you $2.95 crook, it's suppose to be 50 cents 🤣😂😆

Well, you could list it as 'Not quite free shipping', charge $ .50, and just raise the price $2.45. Then you would just be greedy and not a crook. 😀

I am not sure if that's this buyer's way of negotiating but I can tell you I am sure there exist buyers who think free returns are truly free, too. Also since it is free shipping how does the buyer know your shipping cost?

All we need is we need to understand and look into the matter from buyer point of view ,
1. may be there is method of shipping which is cheaper then your shipping or may be some seller are using cheap courier
2.may be your item replica are in the market so that buyer is angry with product because he can find a product same as yours very cheaper

There ARE people, both buyers and sellers, who think that certain sellers have special deals worked out with the Post Office so they can ship for free.
Seriously.
There was a seller here a few years ago who posted, asking where he could sign up for the free shipping deal because he was tired of paying shipping. He asked if he was supposed to sign up through Ebay or through the Post Office. He was truly gobsmacked when he found out that there really wasn't such a thing as "free" shipping, and he was even more disappointed when he found out that "free" shipping sellers added the price of shipping into the item cost. If an actual seller thinks this way, you can only imagine that buyers would think that way too.
I really wish I had bookmarked that thread, it was a doozy.

You cannot avoid the crazies forever.
Just had a guy go ballistic about a damaged $7 item that I am a scam artist or something....as if I have time to craft listings that sell for 1.5% of my daily intake.
Buy or don't buy. Return or don't return...leave the soap opera nonsense to day time TV

Thanks!

Don't feel bad, it seems to be happening all over these days. We just held an item for some guy to buy for over a week. He said nothing about the price until the hold time was up, and then he wanted us to take less. We declined and he said we were being reported for a scam and ripping people off.

Block and forget. This guy with very warped ideas has already taken up too much of your time. One thing I've learned in life is that it just isn't practical to satisfy everyone. Businesses truly are better off without some customers, because they are more trouble than they are worth. This guy has just waved a red flag in your face while screaming, "I will be your worst nightmare buyer ever!" Take advantage of this knowledge. Block him so he can't buy anything from you, and don't give it another thought.
