A buyer (member for many years and buyer feedback over 100) messages me asking about the shipping price of one of my items (that currently has shipping at 2.95) to lower it because the item is very light... telling me to just do regular shipping. This item currently sells well, about 3-4 a day.
I reply that the shipping price stands firm and ask what does he mean by “regular shipping”. He responds that 2.95 is expensive for a light item. I reply that packages that weigh even under 1 ounce has a postage price of just under 3 and up to 4. He comes back telling me he doesn’t think so... many sellers have free shipping. And postage should be 50 cents. He tells me to stop BSing him and he wasn’t born yesterday.
I send a final message correcting him saying he’s probably thinking about a 55 cent forever stamp for letters (buyers love to round down a lot when quoting low prices). Parcels start at just under $3 and have tracking numbers. And sellers with free shipping incorporate the shipping cost (not free) into the item. He replies by calling me a crook among other names... saying he can understand $3 shipping if the item weighed 2 lbs. He then says he’ll never buy from me and he’s going to write me a bad review because I’ve been ripping buyers off with this $3 shipping price.
I’m not even going to continue to correct his deluded idea of shipping prices and weights anymore. But I wonder, this guy has bought over 100 items on eBay and still has this totally off view on shipping. Please don’t tell me this is his way of trying to negotiate.

Dear Crook,
How about a screen shot showing him that a first class package weighing in at 1 oz. costs the SAME to ship as a first class package weighing in at 4 oz.
Personally i wont go below $4 S&H no matter how light an item is .... so $2.95 is a bargain!

WHAT???????
Back off! You are NOT here to tell us what to discuss.
The thread got derailed with a bunch of political hooey, and frankly I'm glad it's gone.
You know...the "my candidate is more pious than yours" type of garbage that has NO PLACE in a discussion board about selling on Ebay.
Three cheers for the mods!

I went back and re-read the entire thread. Where is the political hooey you refer to?
Your second statement is pretty unbelievable. Just what do you think a discussion board is for?
Course, I guess if you're into censorship then your statement is justified.

The comments were removed, that's why you don't see them. The comments had absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Political back and forth has it's place...just not in the selling forum. That's what chit chat or the cafe or whatever it's called now is for.

I've had a couple do the same to me. I explain to them that the shipping costs are for more then just postage. That it includes boxes and packing materials. When they continue with the whole "others provide free shipping", I explain to them, well I will offer free shipping, but my prices will increase to cover the cost of shipping. That usually shuts them down. I've had a few throw a fit, and then I just laugh at them, but after all is said and done, they go into my blocked list.

@kh-ornesh - here's a suggestion for you; moving forward it would greatly help if you provided just a bit of info for relevance. Due to the fact that the offending posts were removed, those of us who didn't see them now have no point of reference for your own post. We don't need to see the posts, we just need to know a basic, how were they off topic. Perhaps next time you could simply add:
Hello everyone,
Since this thread has gotten a bit off-topic with political posts which have been removed, please bring the discussion back to the subject of original post.
Thanks!
Just a suggestion is all....

"Gee, even though i offer you free shipping on this item, for some reason the post office still wants to charge me to ship it. The nerve of them!"
