Have your sales stopped after posting negative experiences with ebay?

  1. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed that after posting the truth in here  about their negative ebay encounters that their sales have then plummeted or outright been stopped?

"There are good buyers and good sellers. There are bad buyers and bad sellers. Scammers on both sides, sadly. "
The thing is, to be a Top Rated Seller, you cannot be a scammer / bad seller. You HAVE to be on the up and up, as those metrics are extremely stringent (I live this every working day of my life, and it involves a lot of conscientious work). So, while there are definitely both bad buyers and bad sellers, the bad sellers will NOT be a TRS. This information can be seen by any buyer who knows where to look.
My problem is when I prove to ebay that a buyer lied about a NAD, they still decide in buyer's favor and there are no real repercussions for the behavior of that liar buyer.

I gave up on even trying to be TRS because it just made my life difficult for little or no gain or improvement in my sales.  I have never bought or NOT bought from someone based on their TRS status.  And yes, I have been ripped off by TRS a couple of times so it is no guarantee of their quality or reliability.  At the end of they day they are just as human as any other seller.

My friend, I understand what you are saying and that is how it should be.

Unfortunately, many avoid TRS sellers because of bad experiences~legitimate SNAD, and hostile, abusive customer service in hopes of intimidating the buyer into abandoning the return.  Possibly this is because they feel pressure to stay TRS.  But I have even seen posts by a TRS seller who has stated they avoid TRS due to these bad experiences.  That is why many buyers don't think TRS means anything.  There have been threads on this by sellers as buyers who have found this to be true, and this information is prevalent if you are frequently on the Boards and have read the many threads and posts on this.

I 'm sorry that you have encountered that situation, though.  I can relate because I've had bad experiences as well, such as returning a legitimate SNAD, only to have the seller claim it was not his item, when it absolutely was.

No, I rarely read any negative truth statements here in the forum.  That would require more than I said it so it must be true.

Are you also suggesting eBay positive posting from sellers here in the forum should enjoy sales growth?

Quarterly sales numbers keep going up so if negative viewpoint sellers sales are plummeting, then perhap the marketplace growth is from positve eBay viewpoint sellers?  Or maybe has nothing to do with the sales on the eBay marketplace?

I have to answer to people (outside of ebay) as to the status of my store/account.
As a buyer, I would definitely think twice before buying from a seller who wasn't at least "above average".

I wouldn't say that it was a guarantee that you wouldn't be ripped off by a TRS, I'm saying that any TRS did not just happen upon that status and probably worked very diligently to do HONEST business. No seller will maintain TRS status if they scam people, and that is by design.
Not sure what you have against TRS, maybe it's just out of your reach.

As a buyer how would you know if the seller has a rating that is above average or not?

100% Fact. Especially when on the rarest of occasions they relent and give me what is owed....look out sales will fall off the cliff for weeks. That is a fact I have witnessed each time I won...so guess what....I don't even bother anymore because even when I win a Battle I lose the war for that month

Because ... when you go to a seller's profile (not their listing), it shows how the seller is rated by ebay. That's is why I mentioned "if the buyer knows where to look". Unfortunately ebay doesn't make that information readily available UNLESS a seller conforms to unprofitable business policies set by ebay (ie, free returns...among other unprofitable policies) Sure, we do not have to conform, but if we don't, the buyer doesn't see that detailed seller information, and most will not look. Heck, most of them won't even read the description, let alone click on seller's profile! Why should they? ebay has relieved buyers of any and all personal shopping responsibilities!

With all due respect, that poster may have no desire to be TRS.  Many don't.

His or her opinion may be based on their experiences and entirely valid.  Possibly many whose behavior is egregious convince themselves that the ends, sales, which is what TRS is based on, as you have a quota, justifies the means.

Actually I am surprised and amazed at how tolerant Ebay is of many posts that are here.

Not sure I am following you?  I have not seen any seller profile pages before.  Could you direct me to your seller profile page?

No, I have posted both Good and Very critical comments, no change.

Re: Have your sales stopped after posting negative experiences with ebay?

I am not, nor have I ever been, a popular poster. Since 1997 I have routinely gotten posts kicked because I tend to call out hypocrisy among eBay and its buyers/sellers. That said, eBay has never NOT taken money from me as a result.

They don't like what I say, but it's never been enough dislike to tell me where to go.

Fellow posters, on the other hand, they can mess with you.

With all due respect, some sellers STILL do strive for TRS for many reasons. It is not an easy task, most won't try because maybe to them it's not worth it. It really is a lot of work. My personal goals and standards drive me to it, not to mention I have to answer to other people. There are benefits that those who never were or haven't recently been TRS wouldn't know about, or understand the reason some still do try to achieve it.
To some... good enough is good enough. I want better, not only for myself, but for my (honest) buyers.

I should say my first selling ID was 1997 ... I don't think there were these message boards then.
