Just a quick question for everyone out there. Has anyone had an increase of Sales since the Implementation of GTC? If you have seen a decrease please mention it here.
Cheers everyone!

When it becomes stressful and not fun anymore.....it is time to move on. You are no longer a small business owner, but an e-bay employee, Total game change.
As a small seller of collectibles, sales are about the same but I end GTC listing before they automatically relist (so it is like a classic 30-day duration) and auctions are also doing well.
BUT, having to babysit GTC listings is a huge burden. As an example (I also posted on another thread) I launched over a 100 GTC in April without paying attention to the DAY I would have to end them (my fault but it should not be that way). And they actually were going to relist yesterday, Sunday, on Mothers Day around 6pm. I did not want to end them in early morning... waste of sales opportunity (sometimes I make a sale when a BIN is about to end).
So, I was away from computer with family with a big cloud over my head and I had to rush in late afternoon to end the GTC. And now I have to check my calendar to make sure I will be available on the day and time GTCs will relist automatically!
GTC duration is not for me. I agree it must be useful for large volume sellers but it is not for me. I have been a seller for 19 years. I tried GTC. I don't like it. I do not relist systematically, I revise, I remove, I add new, etc. I need duration options. I need Fixed price/BIN 30-day duration where listings DO NOT RELIST AUTOMATICALLY.
I will continue to adapt the best I can, as I have over the past 19 years but yes, its has become more stressful than it should be.

I've been selling here since 2005 and built my sales to consistently 2-3 per day (about $1,000 per month for $12 items) for the last 3 years or so. Now NOTHING. Weekly sales for 4/7 to 5/4 were 8-4-6-2. I have sold 3 items in the last 13 days. I have always used GTC since I list multiples in most listing. Have a basic store, 245 listings, Top Rated Plus seller with 7,049 100% feedback. I'm wondering if not opting into Managed Payment has killed my sales. Any thoughts about this???

Less sales, for less $ per sale.
Less impressions and less traffic/visibility
More sales from NON promoted listings
Less sales from promoted listings
Many sales from Puerto Rico and Ohio
More non-paying buyers this month compared to ALL 2018 (8 non-payers out of 20 sales this month).
Unresponsive & Non-Paying offer-makers after accepting
Phishing messages
Less questions
Less offers
More work to end listings and delete ended items
Less traffic from outside eBay
Impressions down
Sales down 39% this month.
Painfully slow 😕
Sales were higher before we upgraded to premium, strangely enough, and think we may downgrade- time is money, and right now the money does not meet the time put into listing. Feels like our store has been thrown to the wolves to see if we quit. Hope things get back to normal soon. This should be a fun experience, and not so stressful. I don't feel protected as a seller to just put an item up, sell it and ship it. Wish it was that simple! 🙂 The DSR tightrope dictates our visibility, I believe. 100% score means nothing apparently.
That's it in a nutshell. Wish everyone having trouble well and hang in there!

Make no mistake about it, this is a tactic eBay is using to try and get more people to "promote" their listing so they earn more money on sales. Also to encourage people to use "auction style" more so they earn more money on fees.
Being able to choose a listing duration for fixed price items adds a "sense of urgency" for buyers. That is basic marketing 101. It absoultely boggles the mind as to why they would remove that option.
I've seen a huge drop in traffic since they forced everyone to use GTC on fixed price listings.

What part of it is deceptive? Did you NOT know you had to pay fees to list, FVF, etc?

Sorry I haven’t responded sooner. I’ve been feverishly busy moving products. They talk about search and browse manipulation, however it appears if you are paying for an anchor store or whatever, it does not matter. There seems to be no playing fair here? With that thought, there is no win/win situation. My sales up are 75% elsewhere and cheaper commission when you include promotional fees.
I don’t understand why the listings cannot be more uniform, such as one product, so many sellers and lowest prices on top. That would prevent buyers going to the anti-trust with complaints.
Wenig bragged about how sales were down, but still increased his income by I believe around 64 million in the first quarter and proud of it. So sellers are suffering, holding onto stock, some paying high interest rates on credit cards, regardless IF we sell or not he is making plenty of money.
Be sure to watch your charges as you go. I’ve had a couple that were charged for promotions, but they were not promoted. I have also noticed that I’m paying more for promotions than I am in FVF.
I’m also videotaping when I do promotions so I can reference back to see if that amount is correct. The only catch here is do NOT add more to your promotions. If you do, they could increase without you doing it when you update.
I think Wenig needs to learn some lessons on this promotion deal that he readily admits how proud he is about all the millions he is taking out of our pockets, and stating that sellers are “flocking” to the promotions. Are you kidding me? Who in the world wants to pay EVEN MORE money? Overall, we are all broke!
Things I’ve been sitting on for 13 months are selling elsewhere.

Were you paying monthly or yearly? I pay monthly and I have verified I owe nothing more.
05-13-2019 01:39 PM
No, you are a paycheck for Wenig and his investors.

Go to Ina Steiner’s site and see how much Wenig is receiving for the promoted listings. Then we are in a catch 22, promote or no sales to speak of. I believe it is 64 million or so in the first quarter and bragging how sales are down, but promoted listings brought in the approximate 64 million. Are we suckers or what?

To cumberlandmountaingapdiscounts:
I DID have my eBay Store on an annual basis, @ $21.95 per month, until I closed it out effective April 30th. However, I still had a little bit left to go until it was time for the annual renewal, so "of course" they charged me an 'early termination penalty', for doing so. Well, fine;...at least, those last several bucks should be the last charge I'll have, and which I've already paid.
Vete a la mierda, eBay.

FYI, the ONLY way income is generated for Ebay in regards to a "promoted listing" is through a sale. The item HAS TO sell. Otherwise no income is generated for Ebay on promoted listings.
I do understand that sales are down for a whole lot of us, but I disagree with your opinion that Wenig is "bragging" about it. That would make zero sense since Ebay is a for profit company.
