Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

Last week (Friday January 22) I posted that we would be away until January 30th. I have had several sales with no problem but I sold 2 small items on January 26th and now I'm seeing a Shipping - Past Due in red on these two items! How can I resolve this since I am unable to ship them until Monday February 1st? I am a Top Rated seller and a Power Seller so this is not my first rodeo. I have never had this problem in the10 years I've been a member of eBay.  Really looking for some input here!

Were those 2 listing auctions?

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

The new time away option is a lot different from the older vacation settings form.  The old one was great as one could choose whether or not to hide fixed price listings or let them show in search with the vacation banner across the top.

I recently used the new version - not a fan.

I'm sure you contacted your buyers advising them of the situation.  Hopefully they are nice people and are willing to wait until you can ship.

You can contact eBay through live chat and ask for removal of any defect you receive for this in the future.

Sorry this happened to you.

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

TIME AWAY does not work the way it should.   It SHOULD automatically change the HANDLING TIME so you don't get dinged for late shipments.

Call the HELP DESK and if you politely explain problem they MIGHT remove the defect for slow shipping.

P.S. I agree with other Sellers Comments....do point of using TIME AWAY because if does not change shipping dates.

At the bottom of the Time Away page is an option to allow sales while on Time Away.  I believe it is the default.  You have to deselect it or sales will continue.

I'm a big fan if Time away.  Any hint of a blizzard and I'm outta here.   I opt to have no sales and there is a banner at the top of each listing saying when I'll be back and to check back as no sales are allowed.

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

Works like a charm for me.

Buyers can not purchase an item when I am away.

If they fail to read, and or do not understand the banner message telling them that, when they attempt to purchase, it pops up to tell them again, that the seller is away, and they  can not purchase at this time.

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

I don't care for the new vacation settings now called "Time Away".  It takes twice as long to figure out as the old unbroken system.  I have use the "Time Away" setting several times now and be sure to check the Do Not Sell while away setting.  I also end auctions that will end before the day I return.

Sorry, I don't have a good solution as this has not happened to me in ten years of selling.

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

Both of those fixed priced items show the time away statement.......so there must be a disconnect with the  past due notification.......are you seeing that in Seller Hub or My Ebay?

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

Once again Ebay has botched an unneeded software update. There is no way of setting the time of day, only the date to begin time away. So if you have an emergency and what to shut down right ow there is no way to do it.

Are we talking about other than being about as useless as the old "vacation settings"?

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

You can't set a time but when I've used Time Away it takes immediate effect; perfect for emergencies.  It was literally within seconds and my listings had the banner and sales halted.

One issue I learned was from making new listings, they were added to my active listings but when I returned from Time Away it took almost 24 hours for them to appear as inventory.  Now I just complete the drafts and wait to list until after I've returned.

in my emergency experience, and another time, time away started as soon as I hit the button.

You just choose "today"...that will start it today, and almost immediately.

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

It showed up on the Items Sold. ALL of my items have the time away notice showing up on them. The only place I'm seeing the message in Red that I am late in shipping is on Sold. Guess I will have to wait and see.

Re: Has Anyone had a problem with Time Away?

That's what I did and all of my items have the banner on them! I allowed sales since I was hoping that the weather gurus were wrong (they weren't) so I elected to accept sales to be shipped in a week. Everything else worked except these two items. Couldn't do much about it - with 30 inches of snow and no snow plow in our area.
