Everybody on Aisle 12 (same aisle where Foil Hats are stocked) thinks that.

I think that if people are not interested in what I am selling, they don't look at or buy my stuff.

Yes, Ebay ghosts listings so they can make less money.

So, if you only have a few items listed, and you don't list often, your listings drop in search results. My wife and I have increased our store to over 2000 listings, not really on purpose. What has happened is that we are selling more due in part to more listings, and we continue to list. Some items that we list will never sell. That goes for all of us on eBay. Ghosting? Nope, algorithms and sell able items is more like it, and a little bit of luck

Same item Promoted 20% vs. same item promoted 0 %....
Any number of factors where items are buried...not ghosted though.
Have to pay to play here.

I closed for the weekend due to houseguests, and my sales dropped.
I listed on my slow account when they left, and got my first sales there in weeks-- but not of the items I had just listed.
New listings bring eyeballs.
They don't necessarily buy the new listing, but they may look around.
I have a link to my Store in my Terms of Sale in the Description.
(My customers tend to read Descriptions because the types of goods I sell appeal to the detail-minded.)
I also have noticed that my PL listings (2% standard) get more Views but fewer sales than my non-promoted listings.
I believe that the PL brings the eyeballs, and again, they browse and buy.

The new PL is now 5% standard...LOL...while you were closed for the weekend.
Somehow one of my item's got listed at 40% promoted...which I never do that high and it sold...and to make matters worst buyer mentioned item never arrived...my first in years INR ...gave a refund...item arrives...doesn't want the refund now...eBay charges me for the promoted/eBay fee but not the item itself...because that refund would be greater than the item sold with promoted and eBay fee. Talk about complicated.
I guess getting the refund returned to me from the buyer I will be ahead better than behind in the sale...LOL

NO.
I just did three, both on dotCOM.
The suggested rate was 15% but the program accepted my 2% on the Fixed Ad rate.
And a quick check of my existing PL shows 2% across the board.
We are both selling in the same category, I assume, so that's not the difference.

No I don't. While sales aren't brisk, they are doing OK.
Are your sales down from what you normally get? Your average for the last 3 months is just about 36 items per month.

Please help an older person out and explain precisely what you mean by "listings get ghosted."
Are you asking if the listings are made invisible by eBay?
Or is the visibility of a given listing reduced for some reason?
There is a phenomenon known as a "ghost listing" which I understand to mean a listing that has been sold but which eBay mistakenly resuscitates (because of the nature of eBay's dispersed database operations), but that is likely something different.
Thanks.

It is far more likely that your listings are buried among the masses

I personally think Aliens from another galaxy sometime hide my listings.
