Getting Killed with Insertion fees

Anyone else getting killed with insertion fees, I have a store & I am getting killed with these fees over the past few months, Never happened like this before, .10 per insertion but apply that to over 2,000 listings you can do the math, Why should I keep listing?

Not everyone leaves feedback, & that's not the issue here, I am being charged insertion fees that I shouldn't be, & my sales have actually been ok until about the past 3 weeks they started plummeting, Yes I do get the feeling I am wasting my time, especially recently, I do promote but Never over 3%, I Never use their recommended rates ever!, What exactly is your list of options?

@meme6253

-Do you run a Continuous PLS campaign at the 3%?

-A drop in sales over a 3 week period could be a normal dip in sales for your categories, I have been fighting a steady and measurable decline for 2 years

-I stopped using PLS in 4th quarter last year, will not be using that feature in the foreseeable future.  I used to recommend but now I don't

Well, here is my guess as to WHY you are being charged for insertion fees.....

Are you ending and selling similar? If you are, every time you relist a listing, that counts as a new listing and comes out of your balance of allotted listing amount for the month. If you ended 2500 listing a week and sold similar, that's an easy 10K listings a month.

If that is NOT the case, then eBay is charging you when they should not.

You may need to get a higher subscription.

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

Did you ever look at your expired promotions for last month to see how many listings you used?

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

For many months, eBay had a Free Listings promotion going and it is possible that you went over your Store "free" listing quota during that promotion.

Then if the promotion ended... you would be charged for any of your listings over the Subscribed 1000.

That "10c" is also niggling at me.

I've noticed that when I use Auctions, which is as little as possible, I get charged a dime, even though my Subscription allows 250 free auction listings.

I've never cared because minimum wage here is 27c a minute and it's too expensive for me to ask about it.

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

I think you need to check the name on your plan as mine is the Premium with 10,000 plus 50,000. I pay 59.99 per month. So if your paying 21.95 you aren't in premium. They made a change over the past couple years as I used to pay what you were paying as it was the starting store price then they added new categories. I upgraded to the 10,000 at that time. The premium was the new category. The other hook on it was the free shipping supply coupon that comes quarterly. 50.00 every quarter on select supplies.    And then when they started managed payments is when they gave the extra 50,000. They said it was for signing up for managed payments which I'm sure it means they could take it away anytime they want now that you have to do managed payments.

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

They don't need a bigger store.  Actually they would likely be fine with a smaller store.  However they need to first figure out why they are getting charged for some insertion fees.

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

Not sure where we are at on this subject. I have a Basic Store and have about 2800 items listed, so I know when they relist every month that counts. The app shows an extra 10,000 listings in certain categories. Any idea what the “Certain Categories” are? I am thinking of moving over to a Premium Store but not quite ready to pay the difference per month. I only do this part time now. I see this every day and was hoping someone could shed some light on it:

I would like to get closer to the 10,000 listings before I start paying the Premium Price.

In post 33 I already mentioned why I think he is getting hit with insertion fees. Ending and relisting to keep your listings fresh is probably why they are going through so many insertion fees. If that is the case, then upgrading to a premium store would save them money as opposed to paying insertion fees.

But in reality, they would need to determine if ending and relisting so often is even getting them any more sales over if they relisted less frequently.

Quantity of items listed is not necessarily the amount of listings used every month.  A store with 1K listings up with a 10K listing allotment, is not enough listings if you end and relist every other day. You will need at least 15K listings a month or you'll be paying for 5K insertions.

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

Just so you know - When you list something, your listing for 30 days. It automatically relist every 30 days and the relist counts as a listing. So your refreshing would not fix your issue. If you have 2000 listings then you have 2000 every month if left in the Buy it Now. Thats why your paying .10 for a listing. You are over your 1000 limit. So like you said if you continue to list more, you will pay more. The only way to reduce is to just list a 1000 at a time. Total of 1000 because they automatically relist. Thats why you see end dates. You don't just get 1000 a month every month and add them to last month's total. You seriously need to upgrade or like you said you are going to kill yourself listing more. 1000 at .10 each is a 100.00. plus your 21.95. Your paying twice as much as me. And your not getting the 50.00 free shipping supply's coupon, I'd think. I was always taught by my mentors that to make money you have to spend money. You should have upgraded months ago. Don't let the 59.99 price scare you.

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

Doing a very rough count of listings in the store..........ignoring small count categories..........I see about 2500 listings versus 2220 shown.........so the answer, as has been suggested........is probably the charge for the 2nd category listing.........

Re: Getting Killed with Insertion fees

Read what I wrote earlier - He doesn't have Premium or he would be paying 59.99. As mine is listed as premium and I pay 59.99 for it. Go to the cost structures of stores and read what you get for how much you pay. Premium is not 21.95 which is what he said he is paying.
