It seems the option to revert back to the original listing tool is gone! I absolutely hate this new listing tool I cannot use it. I have sent so many messages and feedback trying to get them to fix all the problems. This is just awful, I don't know why they do this. Everything is taking me so long.

I have now noticed that some other things in the Item Specifics that I do have on the template are disappearing when I list. I create a listing with the template and they are initially there. I scan in the item and they disappear and I have to manually enter them.
With the old lister when you scanned in the item it would just fill in the gaps of what you didn't have in the template. Now it looks like it just overrides them...

This new listing tool is comically bad. So slow and clunky. After 20 years, I am looking at not selling on ebay anymore.

This tool is absolutely horrible. I wonder if Ebay actually uses real sellers to test these new "improvements." Everything takes longer.

Agree Completely!! This "new tool", which seems to have been forced upon us with no way to revert to the old tool, is HOT GARBAGE!!! The overarching huge problem is that almost EVERYTHING takes longer to do/load. And for those of use who do listings in volume, this is a HUGE deal, and severely dampens listing efficiency. Hey eBay, TIME IS MONEY!! I know you don't really care about Sellers, since everything is so clearly catered to Buyers and LARGE COMPANY Sellers, but hey maybe keep in mind that without sellers, you HAVE NO BUYERS to make $$ off of!
This is not a case of "getting used" to the new tool, it is markedly worse, and here's a partial list of why:
1) Takes much longer, including an arbitrary 2-3 second "load" when accessing item details.
2) Certain fields arbitrarily decide to revert back to the existing text, even when new text is entered in
3) The rotation on the photo editor is now backwards for no apparent reason and turns counter clockwise, meaning 3 extra clicks for every landscape oriented set of photos I have.
4) No way to go back to old, faster and vastly superior listing tool
5) In an effort to "modernize" with Pick List format rather than field entry, everything is not only slower, but now requires additional time and clicks.
6) Placement of Photos now ABOVE title, again it was better before and no real reason to change it. This one is actually more of a "getting used to" thing, but why change it at all?
7) Takes at least twice as long to load when using "create similar" listing option
😎 Item category and others are now treated as separate "sections", again requiring extra clicks (and most importantly time) to make and apply selections.
Not that it will happen, but please FIX THIS TRASH ASAP, or at the very least give us the OPTION to use the prior listing tool, which we don't currently seem to have.

This new menu tool wastes a lot of time and is prone to many errors
The least click, the page is refreshed, or you go down and ascend the page
As for the disaster, when you want to review the list, the title returns to the original title and does not give me the address that was changed and registered in the first
I have to change the address again
The biggest problem, which I did not find a solution to, is when you have a variations of products that are not accepted because of this error: "missing name in the variation specifics or variation specifics set"
And when I want to fix the error, I am not taken back to the Variations page
Please this new tool is not effective and wastes a lot of time and energy
Please return the previous tool and make a choice between it and the new tool

I took a few Unsold listings in various categories I use regularly, and using Sell Similar, turned them into templates.
Now I list using my templates which are the desktop-friendly Business/Advanced form.
I've been doing this on both dotCOM and my home site of eBay Canada.
So far, so good.
It is a little confusing since I have to pay attention to the eBay category I am listing in or I get asked for author and genre for a Sewing Pattern listing if I started with a Book-Fiction template. But that also makes sure I don't zone out while listing.

I have also found that is takes a lot longer to list, extra clicks. Specifics are putting in completely wrong information. If you add your own specifics, it will disappear if you don't click where it appears down below. Also check your shipping many of mine I listed where wrong.

You might want to check the shipping on what you have listed with this new format. I never list free shipping and noticed that 3/4 of the items I have listed have free shipping. I'm sure I did not click that button. I was able to fix all but 2. They are auctions that have bids. Luckily the price is large enough to absorb the cost. If it was a $10 or less item, I'd be giving it away, between shipping and eBay fees. I also have an item on an auction that it shows that first class and priority are the same price, with no way to fix it. It's saying that the first class is the priority price, if I go to the listing as a customer and put in my zip code, they still are the same price. I have been on here for over 25 years. The last few years have been the worst for getting help with issues. They say they will do a ticket and get back to you. This is not true they will never get back to you, and 95% of the time they don't fix it. The least they could be is reply or send out messages to sellers about known issues and what they are doing about it. My husband always says if you don't get the answer, you need just hang up and keep calling back until you get someone that knows what they are talking about, but that hasn't been working lately, either.

I just did a revision to turn off quantity discount and it did not work...... that is one of the huge problems with this crappy design- if you do not hit al the correct "done" buttons in order- it just erases what you did and moves on and the lister does not even realize it! In most sections the "enter" button does NOTHING!!!!!! you must reach over and click done button to save..... EXTRA CLICKS EVERYWHERE- that is just one of the reasons this tool is so bad

I have been selling on eBay for over 20 years. Before that, I worked for a software company.
When developing new software, the MO was to:
1. Determine how to create a solution for what ACTUAL USERS need / want
2. Get input and feedback on functionality (add/remove/redesign features, layout, etc.)
3. Test
4. Fix bugs / glitches
5. Repeat steps 2-4 until it is a well-designed, efficient, virtually bug-free product
Nothing ever went "live" until it went through a lengthy process and was a nearly polished product. Why? Because that is the sole mission and purpose of the company, it's reputation is on the line, and customers will be turned off and go elsewhere if the product stinks. eBay's website (platform / marketplace) IS THEIR ONLY PRODUCT.
eBay's MO appears to be "How can we cut costs and extract as much money from sellers as possible, usability of the website be damned?"
TOTAL FAILURE

@outdoorgeardude I agree with your assessment. They must be driven 100% by doing things the absolute cheapest way possible regardless of end product. I would also suggest that it is a generational problem now too- genius can come from anywhere at any age but if you look at the list of employees- it is mostly all inexperience people young, and fresh out of college. Why they may have its advantages -fresh new ideas and cheaper labor- it also comes with huge disadvantages such as a lack of control and direction. That is how we get a terrible listing tool like this- the very idea of unifying the experience across different devices by making them all mobile was dead in the water to start and should never have gotten off the drawing board. Anyone in a position of authority there should have been able to figure that out from the start!
Is anyone ever held responsible at ebay or does everyone just get a smiley face sticker and a participation badge? Ebay is a multi million dollar international company and unless it holds it employees responsible for there decisions and actions- will never improve. There is never a reason to do a good job otherwise ( good old self respect and doing things just for the right reason seem to have fallen out of fashion)

I totally agree. It is Horrible! It takes much longer to make my listing.

Does the catalog still come into play. I prefer to use the catalog because it fills in most of the item specifics already. I don't see that option anywhere. Are we still able to use the catalog
09-18-2022 12:59 PM
I haven't been able to find the catalog either.
I've been in this mess for 3-4 weeks now and still hate it.
This is a very minor gripe: The change of the button "Save as Draft" to "Save for Later." Everyone used the Save as Draft button successfully for years. The change to "Save for Later" accomplished nothing; it is not an improvement (at least it's not a change that costs us more in terms of time). But every time I use it, I'm annoyed because it just reminds me of how so much on ebay gets changed just for the sake of change.

yes, you can still scan in the barcode, if that is what you mean..
