First thief on eBay

So I just received a message that someone is fighting a payment dispute for an item they purchased from me. It was purchased on the 25th and delivered on the 28th. The message said I was protected by the seller protection policy, but we all know what that really means. How do I fight this? Or at least how do I get this item back? I don’t even care about the money or item at this point, I just don’t want people getting away with doing this.

Re: First thief on eBay

You only get one shot at fighting a CCCB so make it count.

Type  all relevant information to the case into a word doc and copy and paste any photo proof - feedback, messages, correspondence  everything you can into that document. Also you should include in the document that you request the return of the item before the case is closed.

Take a screen shot of the document and upload it as a jpg into the case.

Yeah, that was my error on wording. I was so mad at the time (and still mad) that I didn’t write clearly. How do we fight and stop these things from happening?

upload the tracking number onto the cc case

Re: First thief on eBay

Ebay has the info of where this item was sent and the buyers ID all on their ebay account. If delivery scan shows delivered to the correct address and recipient on the account then you should be protected. If said buyer is doing this as a scam this is called friendly fraud, not so friendly indeed. If they did it because  they did not truly recognize the transaction then still the delivery scan to the correct recipient address should suffice.

Re: First thief on eBay

Also, be prepared to wait approx 1 month or more for this to be resolved as the CC companies are extremely lax and have not enough staff to review these in a timely manner. All the while you keep your money and buyer does not get a refund.

Re: First thief on eBay

It is NOT the normal thing on here as most people do not buy with the intention to steal. Those who would file a not recognized charge are in for a long wait for their instant LOL payback and probably will not get a pay back if this purchase was verified on their account and sent to the correct address. This is in my opinion not a smart way to try to steal anything on here, as it is not going to work.

Re: First thief on eBay

Ebay covered me a couple of times when the buyer filed a "charge not recognized" cc dispute. It's getting to be a pretty common way to steal. The buyer uses mother's/ brother's credit card and then the credit card owner files the dispute and wins since the item was shipped to an address not associated with the credit card owner.

time is long.......but at least part of the reason is waiting for the cc co. to respond.............

Re: First thief on eBay

Charge backs are rare for experienced sellers, though not as rare as they once were. They ARE frustrating, but in reality, just part of doing business.

I have one open now, for someone who bought something, wanted to cancel the it while the item was in transit, then just opened a CCCB after they received the item.

They told their CC that they cancelled and I was supposed to refund. No return was opened, no item shipped back, and they now claim they did send it back "weeks" ago. I was not happy about a return, but told the buyer to open a case and return the item if they wanted a refund. Apparently they want the item and the money too. eBay claims they will "cover" me, but we'll see I guess.

I'm not gonna rage over it. I've already blocked the buyer, so whatever happens will happen. It's just part of selling. I've done all I can do at this point. The block list just continues to grow......

Re: First thief on eBay

With the use of a Credit card before the purchase the payment processor verifies the correct shipping address associated with the credit card account. If the address for the shipping is not indicated on the recipients account the sale should not go through. Sellers who are asked to change the shipping address are in for trouble here so NEVER EVER DO THAT.

Re: First thief on eBay

Yes, that happens, people run immediately to the credit card instead of going through the CORRECT procedure for a return. This being innapropriate unless the seller has refused to correct the problem. Buyers should first work with the merchant first as per the rules of engagement with these Credit card but often they do the more convienient thing which is to drop the chargeback bomb.

Re: First thief on eBay

I’m not raging mad, not as of yet, but I am mad. The buyer never asked to cancel, but at the time of purchase did have 0 feedback. Now they have 1 and obviously it’s positive, but I don’t know if they ended up disputing that one too as the seller could have left that immediately after buyer paid.

Re: First thief on eBay

My account was recently MC011 and my selling is restricted.  The only thing I could think of is we have had several of disputes like that open lately despite tracking being uploaded and showing delivered and also there are several instances where the buyer had messaged before hand About when we were going to ship the item or if we can change the address but we let them know we cannot change the address and it was already shipped but eBay still sided with them when they claimed they did not recognize the transaction.
