Why do so few people leave Feedback ? I think buyer should do it first; that tells me they are happy with the item - then I can say how wonderful they are ! If I do it first - still no feedback ! This trend seems to be getting worse !

"Why do so few people leave Feedback ?"
Perhaps it's because many people understand that it is Voluntary.
" I think buyer should do it first"
You are entitled to that...it's still Voluntary.
" then I can say how wonderful they are ! "
You can do that for up to 60 days after the transaction...it's still Voluntary.
" If I do it first - still no feedback ! "
Um...it's still Voluntary.
"This trend seems to be getting worse !"
Do you mean the "trend" of not understanding that feedback is Voluntary?
Best regards to you in the UK.

I agree; I get about 10% feedback; I leave feedback after they do.
I can't even get some sellers to leave feedback after I left feedback!

While I understand that it is voluntary, and after trying several different methods for feedback, I've decided that since buyers cannot receive negative feedback, I would use my feedback for buyers to thank all of my buyers for their purchases, and I send it after I ship. The buyer can leave feedback if they want to, and I certainly do not take it personally if they don't.

You've received 273 and left 283; maybe the buyers who didn't leave you feedback want you to go first.
And with a differential of only 10 (3%), you must be getting it if you go first.

One of the reasons may be as it happened to me, making me stop believing completly that the feedback system to be truthfull.
I placed a negative feedback on a item i purchased and that arrived much later then the max time given to me by ebay/seller...few hours later i recieve a message on my account requesting me to remove my negative feedback, without any reason for such and even offering me 5 pounds in exchange to remove wich with all due respect, looked more like a bribe to prevent any negative feedback to be seen which made me feel extremly insulted...
At the moment im completly under the believe that feedbacks on ebay are only allowed if they are positive...
FYI the feedback DID NOT broke ebay feedback policies

i agree! and i was feeling the same way. I leave feedback right away for each buyer, right after i ship it. i got nothing all the time!! so i recently sent a message asking for it once in knew the item was delivery. i just recieved 2 because of it. But its soo hard for some reason and i feel my status for things will not change with out it! how do i get more...

I too find it frustrating that feedback is not returned, eBay suggest to leave it first as a seller so I do....I’ll be lucky if I’ve received 5% back from my buyers.
I also find it unfair we as sellers have accept negative & neutral feedbacks from people who clearly don’t read descriptions or look at photos 😡
EBay used to send reminders for feedback, they too must have found it waste of time, because they no longer do it.....

I'd say OP is doing rather well in the feedback received dept!!

So since you can't punish bad buyers you're going to refuse to give feedback to good buyers? How many bad buyers do you get that this is such a big problem for you?

MANY are just hoping the *feedback thing* would just go away completely! It can't really be counted on to give an accurate assessment of either buying or selling members since it can STILL be so easily abused and manipulated, and in the end.. all it amounts to is that little Gold Star you got on your chart in kindergarten when you'd remembered to brush your teeth and clean your fingernails that morning before school in the olden days, when personal hygene and grooming were considered good steps to learn early.
How many actually fill out those **How Are We Doing** cards that we find on restaurant tables or in our motel rooms when we travel? How many of us write a little note to the store manager to let him know our buying experience was excellent, and we were very pleased with the merchandise we bought and the service of the cashier? And how many of those stores write up a review on us, as shoppers there? "Poor customer.. left half-fill shopping cart in the middle of an aisle and just left!" or "Wonderful customer! Paid promptly at checkout and didn't hold up the line by writing a check or chatting up the cashier about the weather for too many minutes!"
Please, eBay. Dump the entire antiquated feedback system and just go to an overall transaction count if you feel the need.
