Feedback

Why do so few people leave Feedback ?  I think buyer should do it first; that tells me they are happy with the item - then I can say how wonderful they are !  If I do it first - still no feedback !  This trend seems to be getting worse !

I agree with you feedback should be a courtesy everyone just DOES! a lot of sellers have great items but we can't get customers because of lack of feedback

That's not necessarily why.   The most common reason is may more likely be that eBay isn't showing their items.

Remember, they don't guarantee that they will ever have your item come up in Search.

I am in Canada and buy stuff from all over the world. American vendors are the worst at feed back. They wait until I leave feedback before they post theirs. Excuse me but I paid right away.  Give me my + feedback then I will give you yours when I get the goods. 99% of vendors fron China give INSTANT feed back.

AS a buyer I only leave feedback after I get it because I upheld my end of the bargain first and that should be a rule on Ebay

Since you have the same feedback policy as those sellers, I think the sellers should take that as a compliment.

If more buyers would do like that, it would cause more sellers to leave feedback.  And when more sellers leave feedback, more buyers leave feedback.

If ALL of a seller's customers did like that,  the seller would NEVER get any feedback unless the seller left feedback.

Therefore,  some sellers would start leaving feedback in order to receive some feedback.

The reason is that some sellers prefer to have some feedback rather than to have no feedback.

Since feedback is voluntary, what if no one left feedback at all?

Re: Feedback

hello friend I do not do all that...my experience as a seller is that if they are not happy you will know pretty quick .. I buy pretty often and the less emails to deal with from sellers the better, too time consuming...do not like email request letters for feedback either,
when happy with item I surely tell them...always send thank you letter with purchase invoice

The transaction is not over when you pay; if it were, you would post feedback for your seller when they ship.

Fact is, while you may give feedback after getting your feedback, the vast majority of sellers who post feedback at payment for every buyer report that only about 30% or less return the favor.

You would get more feedback if you did not only leave it after you get it, but that is, of course, your choice to forego that feedback.

99% of those Chinese vendors post immediate feedback.   Feedback costs nothing and can be automated, and feedback is not part of the transaction as it is voluntary and is not guaranteed to anyone, nor is it owed to anyone.  Chinese vendors may also send fake tracking, items that break shortly after receipt, misrepresent their location, promise to send a replacement that never ships and is never received, string you out past the thirty days Ebay gives for a case, and promise refunds that are never received.  If you spent a bit of time on the Buying Board, you would see all these complaints and others that I may not have addressed.

I don't think you really want US sellers to emulate them.

They don't know you upheld your end of the bargain until you receive the item and post feedback; you could file a false SNAD, break the item but say it came damaged, negotiate post sale for a partial refund or discount, send back a different, broken item for the nice, new one you received, or a box of rocks, etc.

Buyers can definitely become problematic for the seller through no fault of the seller after receipt of their item.  I am a buyer, but I understand the each party can post or NOT post whenever they want to.

Many buyers just want their widget.

Good luck to you.

oh please!  they pay you... you send the item they payed for and say thank you....

you have there money..and they have the item... done.  for all that need a ego pat on the back-- you worry about feedback count...and BOY do you not like it when it isn't good....

feedback is silly and near worthless...besides the tiny bit of worth you might get from it...it's not worth the worry... you got paid!

"Since feedback is voluntary, what if no one left feedback at all?"

If no sellers left feedback, that would show buyers that sellers do not think feedback is important enough to spend the one minute it takes for a seller to leave 25 feedback or more.

So, buyers would almost stop leaving feedback too.

Re: Feedback

I think that's the best approach. I'm a buyer and I didn't know to leave any feedback until one seller did what you do. They were kind, grateful and sincere and I was compelled to then take a minute to let them know it was a positive experience for me.

Re: Feedback

I think I should be allowed to take my feeback back. I just sold an item, the guy asked me to expedite shipping. I went to the post office and found a quicker, cheaper way to ship it. I refunded the extra shipping he paid for and left him positive feedback. I sent him a message to let him know all the extra effort I had to take, and the SOB still did not leave me feedback. I asked him twice to "not forget to leave me feedback"....nothing. I think I should be allowed to take back my feedback!!!!!!!! It would be the fair thing to do.
