I am selling a camera with a few accessories and I have listed as $45 Buy it Now or Best Offer. I received two offers last night and got excited when I saw the notification this morning. However, both offers were significantly higher than the asking price. I got one offer at $70 and one offer at $80. Is this a scam? I haven't accepted either because I am just completely confused and think it might be a scam. Why would someone offer $25 and $35 more than the asking price for an old model camera?

This is a scam. Decline the offers and add the IDs to your blocked bidder list.
Usually those scammers will follow up and ask for your phone or e-mail then send fake payment notices hoping you'll ship without payment.

A new zero feedback account selling in the electronics category often attracts scammers. Come here if you have any questions along the way.

Imaginary buyer:
"Hi, I see you have camera for sale for $45.
Please accept my offer for $80 so that I buy your camera immediately! Please act fast so that no one else buys it at your asking price of $45. I really want it, and you can send it to my niece in France who is in international schooling.
After you accept my offer, then send me your paypal email to arrange payment.
Your pal.

Thank you so much! The one person who actually bid higher actually commented on this asking me to send it to France. Not falling for it. Too sketchy. Thank you for your help!

This is the only reason why someone would offer you more money
for something (when they could simply buy it for less).

I'm so glad you asked this question, for your own sake.
I agree with the others that this is a scam.
You were wise to question it.
