A few weeks ago I sold a set of 2021 100th Anniversary Morgan and Peace Dollars for $900.00. 6 Coins in all 3 Morgans and 3 Peace. All graded by NGC at MS69 and MS70. I shipped the coins to the buyer. Then buyer complains to me in emails that the NGC holders have scratches on them. For which these scratches were NOT present when I shipped the coins. So the buyer contacts me via Ebay email and we go back n forth. I say to buyer even if the NGC holder(s) have barley visible scratches on them that does not have a detrimental effect on the value of the coin(s). As the value of the coin is determined by the grade not the condition of the holder. So I DENY the buyers request to return the coins. Because the coin(s) are not defective. Buyer then contacts Ebay and reports that the coins are DEFECTIVE/DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING and requests Ebay FORCE me to accept the return. After buyer contacted Ebay. Ebay sent me 1 email. Not asking my side of the issue. But DEMANDING that I work it out with the buyer and to contact buyer. I had been in contact with the buyer for DAYS already. EBAY NEVER SENT ME AN EMAIL REQUESTING MY SIDE OF THIS ISSUE.
Next thing I know. I get an email fro Ebay stating EBAY HAS APPROVED THE RETURN BY THE BUYER. Ebay sends the buyer the return address label. I notice in the email that Ebay sent the buyer my FORMER ADDRESS to RETURN the coins. I had changed my address with Ebay 6 years ago when I moved. So when I noticed the WRONG ADRRESS in he Email, I contacted the buyer to tell him to

Not here in Philadelphia you dont. If you answer the door, the carrier puts the hand held device in front of you, you sign and the carrier puts the name of person who the package is addressed to as the person who signed for it. My wife has signed for packages addressed to me. She signs and the carrier puts my name down as signing for it. Clearly, Im not a female and wife is not a male.

I did file a complaint. And I agree, nothing will happen.

$900 loss for the sale + seller fees. Loss of the coins to misdelivery/theft. Loss of the cost of having the coins graded by NGC. If I got the coins back. I wouldve put them back up for auction. So now a potential sale of $900 is now eliminated.

Like I said earlier. You are REQUIRED to change your address 47 times. Who knew???

Coins actually. Yes the BUYER complained to me about barely noticeable scratches on the NGC holders. The pics he sent looked like they were taken through a magnifying glass.

Only 5????
I thought it was 47 on 98 different Ebay pages.

Listen friend. I changed my address with Ebay. When I sold something on Ebay my current address was listed on the label as the return address. When I bought something on Ebay it was shipped to my current address. I put in an address change with Post Office 7 years ago. A change of address with the post office is only in effect for two years.

I filed a complaint with USPS. Nothing will happen. This is Philadelphia. I have bothered Ebay. On line chat several times. I also appealed twice. Denied twice.
Went to my former address several times. No one will answer the door. Postal Carrier was sent back to retrieve package. He delivered to a male. Twice a female answered the door and said she has no package to give back.
I agree. When you appeal a decision you are appealing to an Ebay employee. Who knows it is in Ebay's interest to deny the appeal bc then Ebay gets to keep all the seller fees.
Buyer wanted a return bc of DEFECTIVE. The coins were not DEFECTIVE. Buyer reported and submitted pics that appeared to be taken through a magnifying glass of barely noticeable scratches on the NGC holders.
I do believe when the buyer first contacted me about these "scratches" on the holders he was looking for me to off him money off via a partial refund.
Im out a lot of money and Ebay's attitude is just **bleep** YOU BOB!!!!!!!

Police Report in Philadelphia for this? 911 would cancel this call forthwith. We have shootings and murders everyday.

I did and I agree.

Regardless of the maths involved, whichever way you look at it, it is a lot of money to lose.

The address on the shipping label was the ship from address.
When they issue a return label, they use the return address you provide in your account settings.
You would think, if you only provide the main address, they would use that address for everything else, but they don't

Once a seller gets a handle on how to handle returns, business gets easier on eBay. You were headed down a dead end road when you denied the buyer's request for a return on a valuable item.
Only one response to the buyer was ever necessary and only one.
"Sorry to hear you are not pleased with your purchase. Please return for refund".
You would have gotten your items back and been able to relist. And don't forget to have your return address correct.
You own this whole debacle.
