EBay eliminated the item specifics in over 1300 of my items, but now wants me to add them in again!

As of May 11,  eBay stripped the item specifics from over 1300 of my items -- but now wants me to go back and replace ALL of that information from scratch!

I'm a 73 year old, one-man business, operating from my basement and a spare bedroom, and I definitely don't have the time to individually re-load information, one item at a time, that had already been listed previously, sometimes from nearly 10 years ago!

What kind of rinky-dink moron came up with this asinine idea?!?

Hi Davy I will say yes its a pain. I'm a glass half full kind of guy. I'm also having to re-add specifics also. On the bright side. I am seeing a traffic increase and watchers and sales are coming through nicely. I'm thinking this could be your chance to get a leg up on others who are really stressing on this. Exactly same situation here.  It gives me 25 shoes to update the size to then a few minutes later 48 more and 26 more and 10 more, etc.  The weird thing is, I went in and pulled up a few listings separately for those items and the size is there, but still making me add it in.  So strange and this weeks glitch I guess.  I have wasted a few hours today and just can't waste anymore updating something I already did months ago.  Ebay what is going on?????

And just imagine what is happening on the Barnes & Noble eBay site, where hundreds of thousands of book titles have to be entered ALL OVER AGAIN!  

Yeah, I bet a lot of the bigger eBay sites are really happy about this change.

But if you make a mistake and something sells that you do not have you get a Defect.  Seems like all people this affected should get like 100 free defects removed.

They did it to me on 300 comic listings everything is now "comics and graphic novels rather than all the details like character time period etc....I called them last night and was told there is a 'glitch" that affected a lot of categories and they were working on it...

I've sold off and on here for over 20 years and they just keep making things worse for sellers.

Twice last year I had just over 500 auctions dumped.  They did not just end where I could Bulk Relist them.  They were gone from the system.  I gave up for about three months and then spent a great deal of time relisting from scratch.

I am assuming when the item is moved to a new category the specifics are gone just like when you change categories while in the process of listing an item. If I am creating a new listing and fill in the specifics then notice I should have it in a different category they all disappear when I change category. Sorry if someone already pointed this out.

It appears that every time each of my items is ending its 30 day cycle, it suddenly re-appears on the "add item specifics list. . .or else!" alert.  And most of those are for books, that this "new, improved" system insists I must now add the book title (and sometimes the author) -- WHICH I HAD PREVIOUSLY DONE BEFORE EBAY ERASED ALL THAT INFORMATION!!! 

No time to list anything new today,  folks -- I'm too busy painting the roses red!

Right there with you.  We too grew tired of the "please update your specifics", so we spent months getting them updated/completed.  If you're make me climb the mountain, STOP pushing me off the CLIFF first.

Since the new "Book Title" item specific was not previously used by eBay, that still means that all of us who sell books STILL have to renter that information in the new "Book Title" blank, even though 99% of the time the book title is ALREADY listed under "Title."  We are wasting valuable time, re-entering book titles, which have previously been listed under "Title," at the time that we had created these listings.  "Book Title" is an entirely redundant "Item Specific," and should be eliminated.

brian@ebay   no way to get an announcement up to that effect?  Alot of sellers are going to dive in and try to resubmit stuff...........
