There are Free Listings on eBay, but  we pay fees on selling, on shipping and on payment processing.

There are some discounts and a few higher priced categories, but basically:

You pay 10% of the selling price when the item sells.

You pay 10% of the shipping fee you charge the buyer.

These fees go to eBay.

As a new seller your payments are processed by Paypal (This will change in the near future, but the fees won't)

You pay 30c for each payment.

You pay 2.9% of each domestic payment and 4.4% of each payment from a non-US buyer.

• You will see Internet Sales Tax on some US payments. You do not pay this, it is an accounting passthrough, but you are charged 2.9% of the tax by PP for processing it just like the rest of your payment.

You did not get charged for buying something. 

You got charged for selling something.

And if you bought the shipping label on eBay, you got charged for that too. 

That is how eBay works. 

Given the shipping cost it is showing to my address, your LV coin purse would have fees and a shipping label that would total around $39.
