EBAY DELETED MY UNSOLD LISTINGS AND NOW THEY SAY THEY CANT GET THEM BACK

Lets just say I am more then angry with ebay...I had a ebay store with 650 items in it and due to Covid I was not actively selling things on ebay...I called ebay and asked if I could somehow suspend my ebay store so I would not have to pay the fees until Covid was under control...Ebay ended my store subscription but that would have left my 650 auctions being charged a fee each time they automatically relisted...I called ebay and they told me to end my auctions and they would be stored under unsold listings until I wanted to get back to selling on ebay...I asked the ebay person does it matter how long I wait to relist the 650 items and they said no that they will be there until I want to restart my ebay ads...I was a little hesitant because I sure didnt want to lose my listings...I called ebay again and asked a second person the same question and I was given the same answer, they 650 listing will be there until I want to relist them...So this morning I looked at my unsold listings and they were all deleted...I called ebay and they said sorry its been over 90 days and they cant be retrieved...I cant believe they cant be retrieved and I am more then livid with ebay...Its a ton of work to redo 650 ads from scratch...Ebay could easily sent an email saying do you know your auctions will be deleted if you dont relist them by a certain date...Believe me if my account had criminal activity they could retrieve my 650 auctions...Has anyone else had this problem?

You expected them to hold your listings indefinitely?

I sometimes end seasonal listings to save for a few months and keep them as drafts that I resume and save every 30 days or so to keep them alive.

It would cost eBay money to store your info and the pictures especially can be huge files.  They don't even keep sold listings over 90 days.

I think most sellers know that eBay does not keep unsold listings around indefinitely. A simple Google search would confirm this.

I have no idea why two customer support representatives would have told you that they would keep them indefinitely.

See if they're here: https://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyeBayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextSellingDeletedItems

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: EBAY DELETED MY UNSOLD LISTINGS AND NOW THEY SAY THEY CANT GET THEM BACK

I've been selling for over 10 years and as far back as I can remember, there was always a 90 day limit on the unsold listings.

If I want to keep them longer, I create drafts from them and update them every 30 days until I am ready to re-list them.

Ebay can't be responsible for people who do not read their policies, but it was wrong for the 2 reps to tell you they'd be saved indefinitely. That alone would have made me suspicious and I would have done some research.

Aren't the listings in your personal email messages? I know every time I list something, it goes into my personal email letting me know I listed an item.

Re: EBAY DELETED MY UNSOLD LISTINGS AND NOW THEY SAY THEY CANT GET THEM BACK

I don't believe even 30 day ended/completed/deleted  listings are kept any longer.  I looked for listings I ended about a week ago and cannot find them.  There is no option to select "deleted" under the Sold option.    I am not in seller-hub.  Would I be able to find them there as I have been searching with no luck.  I have been searching for the last several days and cannot find anything that relates to  deleted or completed/unsold listings either after I just ended my listings no more than a week ago.   I am not talking about listings ended more than 30 days ago, this was just 1 week ago.  So I guess you need to start with a fresh listing under "Sell an item".    At least I still have all my photos in my files.

By a stroke of luck, I happened to find my deleted/unsold listings.  I clicked on Summary under My eBay at the top right of my page.  Then left column scroll to  "Sell", click that and a list will come up and "Deleted" listings is there under "Sell".  You will get your list back of what you deleted and can "Undelete" them and relist, or sell similar.  I  thought all was gone for good.

Exactly why you need to use a application on your company to store this information.

The best ever created is GarageSale.

You will run circles around anyone using any of eBay's inept tools.

Re: EBAY DELETED MY UNSOLD LISTINGS AND NOW THEY SAY THEY CANT GET THEM BACK

I don't know the numbers per se, but millions of listings end every day. Many of these (auctions, mainly) are neglected for a while and they can't simply keep those servers full of all those pictures and whatnot indefinitely. The online storage space in the world is NOT infinite unless it's paid for.

I think the 60 or 90 days is fair.

At a certain time, the clutter has to go. I clean my office at around the same time interval.
