Did anybody else have an epically poor sales day? 7/26/22

Today I will have my worst sales day EVER since selling on the platform for 23 years.     As of 6 PM tonight I have had a $9.17 sales day.    Which was 98.8% less than the same period last month.

This again has me questioning what exactly is going on with the Ebay selling platform.  Sales down now well over 70%, listings and impression down in excess of 60%

No changes to to my product mix, advertising and I still have the lowest pricing in the category.

Is anybody else seeing this?

I haven't received a single sale OR question on my listed items since 6pm EST last night. That's the longest I've gone in recent memory. It's like my store is completely shut down or something.

Nope not at all, Did $311.00 with 27 sales. Could you show us screenshots of your past 90 days showing that your down 60/70%? You can't compare sales like that in such short time periods. Hows your last 90-180 days? Year over year? I am curious to see your 90 charts to see where this 60/70% drop off in impressions went because I have not not had this issue on either of my stores. In fact my impressions, traffic and sales are very consistent.

@laststopgeneralstore   I have a master spreadsheet from when I started Selling.  I have every month with the total number of sales and the total dollar amounts ... it also keeps a running annual total AND average item sale.  It's a great quick glance piece of data so really see if:

-Growth continues from year to year

-What are typically good selling months and which ones aren't

-Ability to compare each month with the same month in each preceding year

So, with that said, last year I had a 6 month stretch May through Oct where each month set a new record for sales ... this year the same period is about half over and sales are nowhere near last year's numbers ... I would be fine if they were close but part of the whole "growth" thing is not seeing extreme drops in sales ... minor ebbs and flows are normal ... what I have seen this year is not normal.

Developing an additional cash stream through any internet sales venue requires a good sell through rate .... the profits earned from sales help pay for new inventory and thus the opportunity for more sales and growth.

Due to this slow Sell through rate, last month I diverted 30% of my inventory off eBay to another venue.  I give eBay first shot at selling items but if that doesn't happen the items get sold elsewhere ...

Last year I only did that twice in 12 months, this year that may easily double ... it's up to eBay to fix their problems.

@worldwide_ship   Check your Traffic report in Seller Hub, I suspect Impressions have plummeted on your items ... earlier this year mine dropped 80.5% ... unbelievable ... here's some more recent data ... no fluctuation, just a slow steady decline ... THAT is not normal.

Hey SELLINGSTUFF, You said you just keep telling yourself to KEEP LISTING and hope for the best, Well the old tried and true "KEEP LISTING" would ALWAYS GUARANTEE SALES in my experience over the last 8 years. If you listed, you sold ALWAYS! This is NOT THE CASE ANYMORE! The Train is OFF THE TRACKS!

I certainly hope they get this fixed ASAP!  I am really scrambling on my end to cover bills and find other selling platforms

Yep,

This is the worst sales crash of several during the last few years.  Don't know what eBay changed in the search engine

this time, and as usual customer service reps don't either. Spoke with a U.S. C/S rep " Very Rare Occurrence " and the only thing she has heard was that Ebay is attempting to weed out bots that show up as " watchers " and she has been hearing endless complaints from many sellers about crashing sales. Mine are down 37 % as of today. I hope they figure it out because I am soon to be at a break even point, and that will be it for me.  They have stepped my total sales down over the years by 75 % !  I know that most of eBay's sales are from big box retailers, I was told 60 % + and that was several years ago. They don't seem to value the small independent sellers that made them. They are absolutely not  going to compete with amazon like they seem to be trying for a few years now.

Good luck everyone.

Well, look at it this way, next month you may be looking at an increase of 98.8 percent over compared to today.  Or you might not.  There's no rule in business that says your sales will always be comparable to the same day from the last month,  quarter, year, decade.

It's all Brandon's fault.

How in the world do you make any kind of reasonable profit/money. You are selling many if not most items at $4.69 (plus $6.95 shipping). By the time you factor in shipping costs, item cost, Ebay fees, supplies, and total time spent per item (acquisition, preparation, photographing and shipping), it would seem as though your hourly rate is miniscule. I just don't get it.

I think eBay attracts a lot of "bargain" shoppers.  Just recently, I had one person make me a low ball offer and I counter offered a dollar higher and they declined.  😂  I'm laughing now but at the time it seemed ridiculous to me a person would decline because of one dollar!  Cheap!

Re: Did anybody else have an epically poor sales day? 7/26/22

As of today I have not had a sale in 11 days. Very unusual for some of the items I sell. Impressions down 56.4% and page views down 53.2%. eBay has something goofed up again and probably don't know how to fix it.

Re: Did anybody else have an epically poor sales day? 7/26/22

Mine was pretty normal, $300.77, which is about $30 above my daily average for the past 90 days.  Today however I am only at $26 so far. Which is putting me on track to be the worst day of the year. However I have had plenty of other days get midway through the afternoon with basically nothing and then still turn completely around in the evening.
