I am so angry at Ebay right now. I had a Buyer who purchased an item, then sent me an email stating that she had purchased the wrong item. She clicked too fast to secure the deal and it isn't what she wanted. I told her I had a no return policy but if she wanted to pay the shipping fee's to return the item, then I would go ahead and allow it. She files a case with Ebay and they not only gave her a full refund (so I paid for shipping TWICE), but they blantantly falsified records on top of it stating that I had not responded to the case. I have clear proof from Ebay that they received my response. I am currently trying to figure out how to go after Ebay for at least my cost thus far. Anyone have any experience with this type of transaction or going after Ebay? Thank you.

You guessed right about me having a no returns policy.
You guessed wrong about me doing nothing in the case. I responded immediately to the Buyer, they didn't like the answer, so they put in a case lying about the return reason. I had proof of the original email she sent to me admitting she made a mistake. Told her I would go ahead and accept the return but she would have to pay the postage. She didn't like that answer, so turned around and put in a case and lying about the reason. I responded to Ebay stating she was lying and provided the original email she sent to me.

I am finding that out, thank you. Don't understand why Ebay provides that as an option when there is no policy.

Not sure why Ebay allows that as a selection when posting an item then.

The Buyer admitted to making a mistake, then when she didn't want to pay return shipping, she put in a case and lied about the reason. I have her original email admitting to it.

Not sure I understand how that is allowed when I have evidence the Buyer lied about why she wanted to return the item.

I did let her know immediately that I would accept the return but she had to pay to have it shipped back. She didn't like that answer so then she put in a case and lied about it.

Appreciate the response, thank you.

That is where I am having hardship with this whole thing. The pictures absolutely could not be more clear as to what the item was. I sent Ebay proof of her admitting she made a mistake when ordering it, pics that clearly showed what the item was (could not be disputed), and explained the situation. They even sent me a message stating they received my response, then under the case notes stated there was no response. I called them because either someone processing these didn't look at the documents provided or something happened, and requested a call back from a Manager. Have yet to receive that call.

Sending eBay a message and talking to CS are NOT responding to the case. There are only 3 responses to an INAD 1. send a return label 2. refund w/o return 3. do nothing, and these have to be done within the case. Since you didn't do 1 or 2, eBay stepped in and did it for you, keeping their fees in the process. Lucky it sounds like they're having it returned to you TBH.
eBay does not care about "proof". They care about happy buyers. Report the buyer using the proper form and if they make a habit of it eBay will restrict them. All you can do.

1: that happens when you don't refund on a return
2: yes even if the buyer scams you out of return shipping
3: that isn't a thing
4: the only response ebay was looking for was you refunding the buyer
You need to read up on the MBG

@bandgindustries you have yet to tell us what TYPE of return case the buyer opened?? What was the 'reason stated' on the case??

Because:
a.) some sellers do NOT want the item back
b.) those same sellers would just prefer to 'give money back'.
c.) the 'no return' is NOT 'no refund'...BIG difference
Ebay has a Money Back Guarantee and it says so right on every one of your listings, right below the 'No Returns'.
Look at one of your listings while you are SIGNED OUT, click it and you will understand.

Sorry to say when you didnt respond to the case with a return label, and refund after return, and Ebay had to step in, you probably got an account defect too. You can see that on your dashboard.you wont get your fees back either.

eBay only goes by what the buyer used as a reason for the INAD
does not matter what the buyer says after that. no backsies. What's done is done, and etched in eBay stone.
does not matter if what was sent is exactly what was described and shown.
just had one myself. Buyer even uploaded photos showing their attempt to install the item into something that it clearly was not for.
take the loss as a deduction when you file your taxes for 2025

My experience with a "no returns" policy doesn't line up with that.
I receive remorse returns from time to time and approve every one.
My INAD returns are less frequent and are always for a legit reason.
