When creating variations, it looks like there's an X4 restriction.
If I contact eBay support, can they unlock it? Has anyone had experience unlocking it?
If so, could you share the conditions or requirements?

No- support can't do anything (although they will tell you they did/can).

What’s X4?

It’s about the restriction that the price of variations must stay within four times the price of the cheapest variation.
For example, if the cheapest variation is $1, you can only create variations up to $4.
It seems that some sellers don’t have this restriction.

Oh. Yea I recall this restriction/policy when it was first implemented. I never bothered to follow up with it because I adjusted all my pricing to follow that policy when ebay didn't allow me to revise those listings once I fell in line. I just assumed it's still in play for everyone. Can you show some listings that violate this policy/restriction?
I see the value of having this set up and I don't see any real reason why a CS would remove that restriction for any seller. What reason would you want it removed for you?

Here is an example:
ETA: I am not sure it is a policy violation, though years ago eBay Community staff recommended using the 4X calculation when creating variation listings.

IDK that it is actually a policy. At least I can't find on that says that.
I went into one of my Variation listings I I change pricing on one of the times to about 12x the other items on the listing and it took the revision just fine. No messages from Ebay either.

You may be correct about it being an actual policy. Years ago, IIRC Community staff Trinton, said that the highest-priced item in a variation listing should not be more than 4 times the price of the lowest-priced item in the same listing. It sure might be just a recommendation.

Back when they first introduced it and some of my variations were more than 4x the price, the system would give me a red text error not letting me move forward with my revision until my prices were less than 4x the lowest price.
I you're probably right that it wasn't really an official policy, but it was something ebay just included into their programming without notice. It was more than just a recommendation since I got those errors. I never found out if it was site wide or not. But as mentioned earlier, I have no idea what state that "guideline" is in now ever since I followed suit way back then.

And Tyler.
Our current community team is really good too, so no shade on them. We just had these guys a long time and they were great.

Agree. And Brian too. At least I have comfort in believing that they are likely totally crushing it in their own current respective paths.

As far as I know, Tyler and Trinton still work for Ebay, just in different section. I'm honestly not sure about Brian.
