I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to. If I set up my no returns accepted policy to Automatic Returns Accepted does that mean the customer will get refunded immediately? Or will I be given the opportunity to inspect the returned item first? Thank you.

You won't have to refund until you have received the item back.

Have you read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers?
If/when the buyer opens an NAD case, and if/when you send a prepaid return label, and if/when you get the item back, you will be required by eBay to refund the buyer in full.
You are free to inspect the item when you receive it back, but it really won't make any different in terms of the action you take.
You are free to contest the buyer's claim, but not sure that would be worth your time and effort.

when a buyer files for a return you will get a message from ebay
when you get that notice you will not have to do anythng.
the return is already in motion then and you just have to wait for it to come back
ebay will send them a return label for what you paid to ship it out
in my case its normally about $4.35 for an 8 ounce package
there is nothing to approve or decide and it stress free

The return would be accepted immediately.
The refund does not go through until after you receive the item back and inspect it.

You will refund the buyer(including any shipping paid by them) regardless of what comes back in that box.
Ebay's return policy protects the buyer, but very rarely the seller. Scammer heaven.

With automatic returns your buyers request to return the item is automatically accepted and a return label is issued. When you receive the item back then you refund.

No, the refund doesn't happen until you finalize it after receiving the item and inspecting it OR if you don't refund or dispute it within 48 hours, eBay will refund it automatically.

You don't necessarily have to refund the shipping depending on how you have your returns policy set up. You can have the option to refund shipping or not depending on the reason for the return. Also for certain return reasons, the buyer also pays for the return label. The bottom line is if a buyer changes their mind because they decide that they don't want it anymore and wants to return it, that's fine but they are going to pay both shipping costs.

If you had an ebay store and your buyer returned the item damaged or not in the same condition as you sent it you can deduct up to 50% of the sold price.

@beverly9258
The results will generally be the same if you "inspect" the item or not, Unless you qualify to withhold up to 50% for a faulty return, the buyer will be refunded once there is confirmation of delivery regardless of what is returned to you.
Though the procedures say that the buyer is supposed to return the item in the same condition, there is nothing that says they don't get a refund anyway, even if they return the proverbial "rock in the box" instead.

Actually, store or not... a seller has the option to deduct from the refund if the seller allows Free Returns or 30-Day (or better) Buyer Pays Returns.

So, what then if they send you the "rocks in a box"? Do you get refunded by ebay or do they charge the buyer back or your stuck with "rocks"?

What are the conditions for taking that option?

I misspoke earlier... you must be a TRS who offers (at least) 30-Day Returns or any seller who offers Free Returns.
That's the only 'conditions' that I'm aware of.
