Account restricted

My account was restricted on October 31/2022 for Identification verification. I uploaded my drivers license, social security card and two other forms of ID, been calling the customer service for the past 75 days and they keep telling me they’re going to escalate and expedite the issue and to give them 3-5 days.  I got two more identical emails from eBay to upload my ID again and I did, a month ago they asked for my bank statement and I uploaded my most recent statement. I’m not sure at this point that they know what they’re doing, I was told that the supervisor will contact me and they never did. I asked if I can talk to the department who handles the verification and I was told that no one can contact their back office people including the customer service supervisor. I been with eBay for the past 20 years with 1620 positive feedback. I contacted the ebay Mr. Iannone  and he was not being helpful and stop emailing me.  His first response was to give them 3-5 days and his second response was to give them 4 weeks , not sure why he never followed up as he promised. The only thing that they haven’t asked me to send them is my DNA and biometric. I send Iannone another email last week and gave him the last chance to take care of my Issue before filing a lawsuit against eBay and the CEO Iannone which honestly don’t think he cares.

You might want to reach out on social media via FB and see if they can help.  Looking at your sold items, the only thing I can think of is you were selling multiples of the same type of items.  Sometimes that will set off the red flag.  Did they ask you to provide receipts for those items or tracking numbers?

These are US CS agents who work for Ebay and perhaps can give you the help you need to restore your account.  Many positive posts on this forum with their ability to be helpful.

When they asked for ID verification, they actually asked you for every piece of documentation you gave them? That sounds like overkill. Don't give them more than they ask for as it might complicate things.

I've also heard, but not sure if it's true, that when you think ebay sent a duplicate message asking for you to upload the ID it usually means there was something wrong with your original upload. So you cannot keep uploading the same file, something needs to be cleared up or changed in the file. Was also told that ebay won't really tell you what needs to be changed. Yes, ID verification is a headache. Again, I'm not sure if this is true. Just from what I've heard.

Thank you ,  the issue was just the ID verification which I uploaded actually 4 times and I was told by the supervisor that they have everything they needed.   I have recorded every emails and communication and will file a lawsuit and complaints against rage eBay CEO Iannone and eBay     I heard about  20 of the same response that to give them 3-5 days.   And thank you for your advice. I will definitely post this on Facebook and Instagram before filing the suit.

Thank you again. I sent them what they asked for.  I was told by their customer service that they been getting lots of calls with the same situation.  ID verification should take 75 days with no resolution and no response as they keep promising me.  It is unbelievable

Hi, sorry for your dilemma. Just awful.

 

I agree with the other poster—use the link they provided and contact the well-trained eBay customer service on Facebook. I wouldn’t bother anymore talking to the call center, as they don’t have the training and authority to help substantially.

 

Also, check out the eBay User Agreement, Section 18 regarding legal disputes, before moving forward to seek judicial redress, link below.

Pay very close attention and watch for identity theft.

You have uploaded that information 4 times to god knows who.

I mean if they have everything they need then why do they keep asking for it again.

No news yet. No call back no follow up , just an automated reply from eBay CEO Iannone. 

and the automated reply from Iannone saying that do not reply to their email and they’re not reading it.

it is now 78 days and all I got was:

give us 3-5 days

give us 4 weeks

we are not able to contact the eBay back office 

we are going to monitor the situation for the next 24 hours 

supervisor will contact you 

we are getting similar calls.

I’ve been very patient with them, planning to file a claim but before that I’m going to write to their board member and attach all correspondence including Iannone auto reply and empty promises.

Did you contact them on Facebook like the poster above suggested and provided the link to? They are real eBay employees that have been very helpful to a lot of people.

At this point it may be mute, but I read a while ago on here that when you submit your id for verification that you should retype all of the contact and profile information at the same time. I did that when I uploaded all my info and never had a problem. Maybe if they ask you for it again you can try doing that? Otherwise do as the others said and contact the help on Facebook.

@homa-a300 - did you get ant resolution yet. I’m in a similar situation - day 43 for me currently. I’ve tried everything much like you and continued to get the run around. I found another poster here who was finally unrestricted after 89 days so I guess that’s my target as of now.

Something we see here over and over again is "I called customer service"

How?

You can contact customer service through Facebook or here but there is no number that you can call and be connected with eBay.

So, as has been suggested, look out for identity theft because I also have no idea who you have been sending your personal information to.

Absolutely no response from anyone including eBay CEO Iannone, I was getting some auto reply from him but not even that in the past 45 days. After 20 years with eBay and 1620 positive feedback Iannone didn’t bother to tell me why my account is restricted for over 4 months now. They’re short staff but not my problem.

If things are held up; the 'id' sent was illegible. They aren't telling you that. It needs to be 'sent' again, scanned at the highest level and blown up. Then, resent.
