1st Negative Feedback -Any thoughts?

Her Feedback:
"The item description and the photographs were quite misleading. The items sent were highly tarnished and in broken condition, however, the seller did not at any stage disclose the same to me. Also, 'Avon jeweler' is not 'signed jewelery', kindly do not mislead unsuspecting buyers. I think she takes the 'junque' part too seriously, for that's exactly what I was sold."

My reply:
"Im sorry you were unhappy with your purchase. It is vintage jewelry and not new. Here is some of the items in that lot you recived:
Signed Lia Sophia "Appletini" Ring (Retired)
Signed Lia Sophia "Alex" Necklace (Retired)
Signed Avon silvertone flower basket pin (selling for atleast $10 alone)
Avon unsigned (dot in circle) Curly necklace (selling for $15-22 alone-use reverse google)
Avon "Precious Pretenders" 1971 Clip on earrings
Vintage Avon Gold Toned Dangle Leaf Earrings with Rice-Like Faux Pearl Accents -Signed on the butterly backs "Avon" goldtone leaf and faux pearl earrings (selling right now for over $16 on Etsy)
Unsigned 1928 Brand (swirl on back) goldtone pink rose earrings
Signed Trifari Necklace
Signed Napier Necklace
Signed RLL (Ralph Lauren) purple glass necklace (signed RLL etched in the glass)
Signed RLL (Ralph Lauren) 14K gold square post back earrings (signed 14K on posts and RLL inside)
Rare signed Merlite brand (M pictograph on the hangtag) clear and green rhinestone bracelet
Elephants were stamped 925 with Marcasites
Goldtone pressed real flower necklace (new old stock-never worn)
1960's Signed Sarah Coventry "Light of the East" Brooch and matching signed post back earring set
Double Ram head Goldtone Earrings
Signed W Germany mother of mary rhinestone necklace, new old stock
Vintage red rhinestone ladybug pin (collectors item)
Amber glass and pearl drop leverback earrings
The glass heart "Those we love dont walk away" memorial necklace is an unsigned Danbury Mint-(use reverse google, sells for $35-$39 alone)
Goldtone Stamped "14K" Goldtone Necklace
Faux Pearl and Black glass Necklace
Clear rhinestone Angel Pin
And more. Yes a few items had some wear/tarnish like the near antique brass embossed box, one of the bracelets and a necklace and the signed necklace and earring set had some tarnish, one goldtone necklace needed ends attached, but the majority did NOT have tarnish and were in great to excellent condition for their age. All earring had pairs".

No, my photos weren't that great, I agree. She shows one earring that a cab came off (it was in good condition when I packed it) and an antique pin that did have some wear, but the extra tiny stones were intact prior to shipping (from US to India). It is vintage estate jewelry and not new. Purchaser has zero feedback.

I know you cant please everyone but her saying its junque, broken  and all tarnished is not true, so Im just on my soapbox here because I cant put all of this in my reply feedback...

1st Negative Feedback -Any thoughts?

I should have mentioned everything in the lot that was signed, taken better pics etc. I told the buyer in ebay messages of the Avon and other signed items, but it wasnt in the listing (my fault). But they stating items are all broken and tarnished, not true as you can see at least see that in the photos. The photos they showed in their negative feedback show a broken earring (could have occurred in shipping, and to be fair, yes some items had wear/tarnish), but may were in great to excellent condition and signed (also my fault for not mentioning that). They have no other feedback as a buyer or a seller. Now, Im wondering if it is a case of reseller sabotage...lessons learned

Yes, I did sell the lot through the ebay international shipping program. They returned it with ebay and I dont know how that works, but I got a message from ebay saying the buyer requested a return, but Im not responsible for it. So does that mean ebay will eat the sale?

Instead of offering my opinion, I will offer the link I just read again which might help. I find it not entirely clear on the not as described return where it states you are protected, because it also adds a couple disclaimers.  I haven't had a NAD return since using the program, so possibly another seller with personal experience can clear up any questions on that.

Thank you for this link for international shipping. It says:

"You're protected from:
The obligation to refund the buyer
eBay Money Back Guarantee cases
Payment disputes
Open 'Not as described' returns in your service metrics
Negative or neutral feedback related to item handling during international shipping"

Im wondering about that last line. I will contact ebay customer service to see what this means and if it applies to my sale.

Hmmmm 0 Feed Back buyer.  Almost looks like reseller sabotage.  Nothing in your listing description says you have Avon but your buyer points this out like it is an issue.  What  does your buyers feedback left for others look like?

I thought the same thing, especially how well the feedback was written with pictures. The OP did clarify that there was some back and forth via messaging regarding that verbiage. (Avon and signatures)

Perhaps it was someone looking for a partial refund type of scam.

My reading of that is that it would not apply in this case, because it was about the item and not about it's handling.  You can always try to get it removed, though!  You do that here: https://www.ebay.com/sellerhelp/feedback (start there, not with customer service, both because it's easier and because they might not help if you haven't tried that first).

Your reply contains a whole lot of great detail about the contents and condition of the items in the lot.

That is the sort of information that would have been a great addition to the listing description, rather than being send to the buyer afterward.

Yes, I know, thats why it is mostly my own darn fault for not putting all of this in my original listing, but the negative feedback stays forever. Buyer will not revise it (I tried).

Okay, yes I see that about the "handling" part and not about the item.

I did read the link, (Thank you). Im not sure they will remove it as Im not sure its part of ebay policy. Here are the choices:

"Request to remove feedback
If you feel someone has left you improper feedback, you can send us a request to have it removed. We'll look into it and remove anything that doesn't follow our policy.

-Profane or inappropriate remarks

-Personal information included

-Doesn't follow eBay policies (examples:legal concern, manipulation, extortion, etc.)

-Related to a case that was resolved in my favor

-Other reason outside my control (examples: weather disruption, technical issues, buyer error, etc."

I did end up asking to remove the feedback, Im not sure if they will or now. But as others have said, not to concentrate on the one negative but the 4000+ other positives on my account.

Thank you everyone for your replies and help 😘

Yep, that's a good attitude to have! 98.9% feedback rating won't deter many if any buyers!  I know I wouldn't hesitate to buy from you with that rating!

Oh, Thank you so much. I appreciate that. Yes, even if in the beginning I'm mad or disappointed,  really makes no sense to stay that way. I cant control others and its always best to try and see the glass half full.  Attitude of gratitude helps to bring me up instead of wallowing 👍

@featherfootfarmfinds

Make sure you add the buyer to your "blocked buyer list" so they do not purchase again from you.

Would you please PM me this toad's username so I can block it?  I sell vintage jewelry lots too, and this is exactly the kind of petty carp I do not need.  -BTW most mixed lot buyers are also sellers themselves (if not on eBay then elsewhere).

If you'll humor us, check and see if she has left feedback for others, and if they're also negs.   This could well be competitor sabotage.  The level of vitriol in her voice, jeez.

Yes eBay will pay the refund on your behalf.  But don't feel bad about that; they sell EIS returns and non-forwardables to a liquidator who has a store right on eBay!  Currently has 28,693 items for sale.  -BTW they also buy (or just get from eBay as part of the deal) the original seller's photos, description, the whole 9.  So don't be surprised if you see this lot of yours on a screen near you, in a few weeks or so (that was how I accidentally discovered that store, seeing the ghost of my EIS return in a search result).  BTW I've bought from them a few times -looks like they don't even open the package, just slap a new shipping label over the old one!   I can't even imagine how much money they make, and with 90% of the work already done for them, LOL.

I'm glad you're not too vexed.  Another recent thread is by a seller who got their first neg and closed their whole decade-old store because of it.  Yes, really.   I'm a former teacher and I don't know if anything has changed but last I knew, 97.5+ = A+.   And you have 98.9.

Also buyers aint dumb.  They'll read this feedback and see this one for what she is.  She doesn't  even make sense -so, you "take the 'junque' part too seriously" ???  What does that even mean?  You didn't call the lot "junque" (nor junk), so what is there to take seriously?   And Avon jewelry isn't signed jewelry? Um, a signed piece is a SIGNED piece, period.  Maybe she thinks Avon is too common and "cheap" to count as signed, but if that's what she meant, what other brands' marks shouldn't "count" in her book?  By the way, there are tons of Avon collectors out there, and some of their stuff fetches NOICE money!!

Here's the only thing I would caution against.   -Maybe you photographed this lot before you got that nice white stage I see in some of your other listings, or maybe this lot just didn't fit on the stage.  But I would highly recommend any time you have to improvise, photograph on a white background even if it's just paper towels on the kitchen table.  Definitely avoid the floor, a bed, or a chair (places where feet and butts have been).  -I wouldn't care; lol I get GREAT deals on foot and butt lots because people with a strong 'ick factor' won't bid on them, but I have a handy spray bottle of 90% alcohol.   🤣

I would have simply responded...

"Sorry you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return for a full refund."
