New Listing Tool - Has Anyone Tried It?

I tried the new listing tool & immediately switched back after trying it once. The amount of clicking I had to do to list one item was frightening to say the least.

I list one of a kind items & it doesn't work for me.

Does anyone know if it's an option or will it be the only listing template to use on Ebay?

I tried the new listed when they come out with it and I don't like it.

I agree, you have to do to much clicking to fill everything out.

According to a message I received the other day, soon, everyone will be switched over to it and there won't be an option.

Have a great day.

I don't like it either. All that clicking is really really slow on my pathetic DSL connection. I had to use it to make or edit templates and it took 30 minutes just to build a simple template with all the clicking and waiting and clicking and waiting.

I don't know if I would continue selling here after 10 years if I have to spend that much time to list one item. Thank you for responding!!

This is yet another case of ebay spending money and time on something no one was demanding major changes to, yet ignoring many things proposed that would make selling and buying safer and better.

Its very disappointing they keep doi g this kind of thing.  If they would just listen and do the changes sellers recommend to make things better here, imagine more and more sellers wanting to come here because its working better for them, ebay actually cares about fixing things that are universal problems for them.  But no, they don't seem to want to go that way.  Not encouraging.

I find that the new listing tool to be easy enough to use, although a few features are tucked away in the wrong places for lack of a better place to put them.  The tool is probably just right for sellers who list only a few items or who list diverse items.

And perhaps the tool is adequate for sellers to list one item and then use sell-similar to create other similar items in that family.

However, I always want to know where I am going before I take a path, so I like to see the whole layout, as with the original listing tool. I've never like hopping blindly from one screen to the next while filling a form, so at least this one just shows side streets with the ability to terminate that branch without leaving the main screen.  But, as you say, that sure is a lot of clicking.

Either eBay's bulk listing tool or their spreadsheet tool might be a faster method for creating listings, but only when the products are relatively similar so that using a grid can save time.

I tried it, absolutely horrible. I finally realized I could click the upper right and go back to the old tool. I let them know my thoughts on this new listing tool.

I am sure it will become permanent, but wow....what a pain to try and list with!

It seems the more they "improve" things the more work we sellers have to do.

It sure is a lot harder as a seller than it was 10 years ago, so much for "improvements"!

They should follow the "KISS" principle, keep it simple stupid.

programmers seem to be click happy. grrrrrr

The new listing tool is an abomination and a HUGE step backwards in functionality... and eBay is insisting that this will become the new standard and the classic lister is going away. Why, I have no idea. The new lister is not better in any way whatsoever.

Some pointy-headed idiot(s) at eBay need to justify their continued employment apparently.

Once this becomes mandated for all, new listings will come to a screeching halt.

KISS - Literally every com-sci grad in all fields of com-sci learned about it.

Absolutely hate it. It's so weird to think that a competent web developer(s) would think that removing direct flow and forcing a ton more work with all the clicking would be a good idea.

I timed myself with "Sell Similar" which requires me to slightly change title, change all pictures and variations, change Item Specifics, and slightly change description.

Old: 94 seconds
New: 281 seconds

I bet I could get the new down a little bit once I get used to it, but it will still take over double the time to make one listing, and I do hundreds weekly. Guess it will turn in to hundreds monthly at that pace.

Old: Type, scroll, type, scroll, type, scroll, done

New: Click, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, click, scroll, click, type, scroll, done!

Makes complete sense.

YES! You explained it perfectly!

You're steps are exactly what I experienced. I hope to God enough people have told Ebay & they don't force us to use the laborious new listing tool. It's awful!

Of course it wont be an option. That is the ebay way, force it down everyone's throat whether it is functional or not. I said it when it was first announced, any time you see a message from ebay that says "great news" or "we are excited", then we are about to get kicked in the teeth... again.

Ebays motto: If it ain't broke.... give us a minute.
