Hi eBay Community,
I recently received a defective item from a seller. I initiated the return through eBay, and the seller accepted it. I'm facing an issue with the return process.
The seller provided a pre-paid return label, but it lacks a tracking number. I received a pre-paid USPS First Class Mail return label from the seller, but it does not include a tracking number. Without a tracking number, I'm concerned about how to prove that the item was returned to the seller.
Is it a requirement for sellers to provide a tracking number on return labels? How can I ensure that the seller receives the returned item and issues a refund without a tracking number?
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

First Class Mail service is untracked and you will have no way to prove you returned the item. Go back to the seller and ask them to provide a label with tracking. If they refuse, contact eBay customer service.

Just wanted to post an update. Reached out to seller and asked for a pre-paid shipping label that includes tracking. Seller quickly issued a full refund. And asked if I could send back item at my convenience. Thanks for the advice.

Sounds good. Now that you're covered, go ahead and use the untracked label to send it back.

If they refunded then no need to return

Some just let their true colors show when they post on the community boards😊

I could just not send back item since I have been refunded. But item is defective so its useless to me. Could just discard it but rather just send it back so it won't be taking up uneccesary space in my home or a landfill.

That is fine too but I am saying no reason for seller to pay for a label to get broken item back.

Seriously? What if you were the seller?

But the seller already gave you a prepaid label (without tracking) so why not just return it? Maybe he can get credit for it from his supplier. Or maybe he can fix it.
Either way, it won't cost you to return it and he requested that you return it. So why not?!?

But as per @importautomotivecorp 's post #3, "Seller quickly issued a full refund. And asked if I could send back item at my convenience."
Although you may not want to pay return shipping on a defective item, the OP's seller specifically requested it.

I AM A SELLLER ....if I refunded a buyer then no I wouldn't have them return it.

The seller requested that the item be sent back.
Correct .......................... by eBay policy the buyer does not have to do anything, .................. but in this instance there is no reason not to do as requested.
Why all the disagreement on your part?

I'm saying I agree the seller requested it but I am also saying that seller shouldn't have refunded if they wanted item back.
As a buyer I would send it back but I am saying they are not required to.
