Hi eBay Community,
I recently received a defective item from a seller. I initiated the return through eBay, and the seller accepted it. I'm facing an issue with the return process.
The seller provided a pre-paid return label, but it lacks a tracking number. I received a pre-paid USPS First Class Mail return label from the seller, but it does not include a tracking number. Without a tracking number, I'm concerned about how to prove that the item was returned to the seller.
Is it a requirement for sellers to provide a tracking number on return labels? How can I ensure that the seller receives the returned item and issues a refund without a tracking number?
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

As a buyer I would send it back but I am saying they are not required to.
Boy, this thread went off on a tangent!
Granted that the buyer isn't required to send it back and granted that the seller issued a refund in error.
But it could be a new seller who simply made a mistake and ticked the wrong box. It's an easy mistake to make, especially for a newbie who may not know what options to look for.
