Returning item for refund - case opened

I opened a case and returned the item for a refund. The seller paid for the return postage  and refused it and is sending the item back to me.  According to the conversation I had with an ebay rep when I opened the case, he said that the seller paid for the return.  So why is the seller sending it back??  Will I get my refund?  I'm trying to call ebay but they are having issues with the phones..

Are you able to go to the case and ask Ebay to step in?

You should have absolutely no issue getting your refund from eBay.

I would contact eBay support again.

Let them know the situation that you used the label provided and sent the item back and it was refused.

When it was refused should be considered the 'delivered' time.

Ask eBay if they can close the case in your favor since you did your part.

When the item is returned to you and tracking shows delivered, you should get your refund soon.

Have a great day.

Refusing delivery is considered delivery by ebay either in a sale or a return so escalate the case if/when ready to do so & they should not only rule in ur favor, you get to keep the item upon return. I would donate it to charity if it is not defective.

This ^^ @jett-starr when the seller pays for return shipping

- whether it is delivered or bounces back you will get your refund, either

- voluntarily before or forced by eBay 2 business days after delivery e.g. back to you.

Otherwise again when it was the seller that paid for the return shipping

- if it is never delivered you will get your refund after the 14 days it was given to be delivered.

"refused it"...I refused something in the post office and didn't have to paid for return postage. Item was returned to seller and I of course lost the funds for the sale for refusing it.

Are we missing a part of the story?

You can't  call eBay. You have to go through Help & Contact and have them call you.

Too bad the dummy is refusing delivery. You should end up with your refund and the package. They can't  toss it back and forth like a hot potato thinking it will prevent them from refunding.
