I purchased a Palit ProGaming RTX 4080 from a seller on eBay, and against my better judgement, I didn’t review their account very well before checking out. They had one other item sold, one review for an electronic book, and were outside of the US. I figured if something did happen, and I didn’t receive the item, I would be covered by eBays buyers protection plan. Well, I spent the $912, and I was provided tracking into the very next morning. That Saturday I get an update showing that the delivery was delayed because the “business was closed”. I had the item shipped to my home, which is not a business. The next business day I get notified that the package has been delivered, and was signed for. The name signed was not my name, and no one would’ve been home to collect or sign for my package. I immediately contact USPS, and they start looking into it. I receive a call from a local CS Manager who said that they personally followed up on the “package” and they believed that I had fallen victim to a non-delivery scam. The item was shipped to a local business in my area, and the tracking info had been spoofed to show that it was actually delivered to my home, when in fact it wasn’t. I received an email from USPS confirming that the package was never delivered to me, and wasn’t even addressed to me. I opened a claim with the seller; who of course denies it all and claims I’m trying to scam them. I finally get to the point to where eBay is willing to step in, and they side with the seller. I sent them the email, and even uploaded screenshots from USPS website showing where the first delivery failed due to the “business” being closed. I’m honestly at a loss because I have no clue what to do. I’ve appealed, but they came back almost instantly saying that their original decision was correct. I’ve called Customer Service and was told there was nothing they can do. I’ve opened a dispute through PayPal as well, and plan to also speak with my personal bank, but I can’t just lose $913. I had been saving for this card (not this specific one, but for a new card) for quite some time and can’t afford to just eat the loss. Any suggestions? I’m working on contacting USPS again to see if they can provide me with additional supporting documents. The whole listing doesn’t really add up in hindsight, and I’ve been completely blindsided by eBay’s unwillingness to help. I appreciate any feedback, tips or suggestions. It’s not like my account has a history of this. I’ve bought plenty off of eBay, and this is the first time ever, in the years that I’ve had my account, that I’ve ever had this happen, and my luck was that it happened on probably the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought online. Thanks in advanced.

Glad you got your refund, Robert! PayPal didn't take the hit -- they got your payment back from eBay, and now eBay is trying to get it back from the seller.
Remember, that wasn't your FedEx tracking number, so you shouldn't have tried to file a claim, which was immediately rejected, with FedEx.
Instead, that FedEx tracking number was e.g. a 1 pound box of gloves sent from the medical supply house on Lewis in Corona for delivery to the optometrist on Colorado in Pasadena i.e. a completely unrelated FedEx tracking number.
And your seller got ahold of that FedEx tracking number, and used that at eBay to prove your fake delivery -- all without ever shipping anything to anywhere.

That crooked Ebay seller (rebesp51) is NO LONGER registered!
So I suppose Ebay FINALLY banned him. Those other vicitms NEVER pushed hard enough to expose this crook. One victim had a FAKED UPS delivery
Did you actually report the details of my FAKED Fedex delivery:
" 1 pound box of gloves sent from the medical supply house on Lewis in Corona for delivery to the optometrist on Colorado in Pasadena "
^^^ There's NOTHING to stop further cases of FAKED deliveries (USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc), right?

Wow. I'm going through almost the exact same thing as you. Ordered a $947 camera on 7/7/23. Was marked delivered in the ebay app, yet it never even said that in the tracking, instead, it said "addressee unknown" and that it was returned to the sender. I almost immediately filed a claim with ebay which was quickly rejected because "a delivery attempt" counts as delivery per their policy. I immediately appealed the decision which was instantly rejected, and the ebay rep essentially told me "we understand you never reciprocated your package, we recommend you contact the seller and arrange reshipment" and then closed the case. I contacted the seller 4 separate times to no response. The seller "johnto_7392" of course only had 1 order sold and it was mine. I feel so defeated because i also thought i couldn't be scammed. I know all the old tricks, but this one seems to be new. I didn't even think to look at the seller profile before buying because of ebays "promise" of a "money back guarantee". Its now 5 months after the fact and i didn't even think to file a dispute with my credit card while i was dealing with usps trying to find the package and ebay trying to reach a customer service rep. Its now too late past the deadline to dispute with my credit card company and i fear i'm just **bleep** out of luck and out of a thousand dollars. Its crazy how ebay isn't aware of this fake tracking scam and completely screw over their buyers even with solid evidence showing the buyer is in the right.

I hate this for you. I can’t believe EBay is still allowing stuff like this to happen. When you go into your tracking info on USPS, is there an option anywhere to request “Proof of Delivery”? It will show (and to my knowledge, is the only way to find) the ACTUAL address the item was being sent to, and not the address the seller is spoofing. eBay is so adamant that these things can’t happen because they provide the shipping label, but after creating this thread and reading so many others like it, it’s obvious they’re living under a rock. I was able to request the Proof of Delivery through USPSs website, which I then provided to PAYPAL to have my funds returned to me. It showed the address for where they actually delivered my package (which was completely empty) and not my home address that was listed on the shipping label provided by eBay. Their “buyers protection” is bull**bleep**. I used to love buying from eBay but I won’t ever again. Just another soulless corporation with brainless employees who can’t muster up enough common sense to see a scam for what it is. I truly hope everything works out for you if you’re able to find that information. It was literally the only thing that saved me from having to eat a $920 loss. Best of luck, friend!

Did @kameda0 you pay by credit card with PayPal?
If so, you have 180 days until January 2024 to file an Item Not Received dispute here at PayPal, to get your $947 back.
Unlike eBay, PayPal does not consider the item delivered until tracking says delivered. Or if the tracking shows nothing at all, you'll get your refund.

You are not alone. I purchased 25 empty boxes on 12 December 2024, Fedex marked them as “delivered” on 19 December 2024. As proof of delivery they include a blurry picture of the supposed delivery. I immediately contacted Fedex and stated I never received the delivery, I did likewise with the seller. Few days passed, the boxes never came. I opened a dispute with Ebay, they decided in favor of the seller, I then opened a dispute with Paypal, it took them one hour to decide in favor of the seller. I left negative feedback for the seller for his idle stance to my pleas for help, Ebay removed my negative feedback in a couple of hours. I lost almost $31. Yet, my biggest loss it’s my confidence from now on with Ebay and Paypal; my statements were never fully taken into account, they gave more weight to an alleged delivery by Fedex to a place you cannot see where it is due to the dulness and out of focus picture Ebay and Paypal take for granted as indisputable evidence of delivery. What a shame, Ebay and Paypal will lose my business, I cannot trust them any more.
