I'm a seller and buyer. I just received an item and the seller accidentally sent me the wrong item.
i went to open a return request. when i selected wrong item sent, ebay prompted me for a picture. It would not let me submit the return request without a picture.
This is similar to how posh handles returns. I think it's a very good step in helping seller avoid false inad returns.
I'm pretty sure ebay doesn't review the pictures like posh used to.. but it may at least stop semi honest buyers from opening up false inad.
has anyone else noticed this additional step??
It's also possible that the reason i was prompted for a picture was because the seller i purchased from doesn't accept returns.
does anyone have any additional info on this new prompt for photo evidence and one can't submit return request without the photo

Tell you what I find interesting here.
There is a bit of unkind sniping going on between some of the responders. But not once =NOT ONE TIME= did the OP ever return to this thread with any input or observations
It's kind of like tossing a cookie on the table and then watching the kids fight over it.

@completepuzzle wrote:I had to submit photos recently here on ebay, but in this case I was glad to do so. My items were trashed by the seller applying ebay tape to the vintage surface.
However, I have had two need-to-be-refunded situations on poshmark, which irritated me to no end. Puzzles missing pieces. "Show us a picture." Uhhh, they're not here.
I just do chargebacks in cases where the site is dumb as gourds.
The chargebacks you think you are doing are just getting reapplied to your card 90 days later. “I just do chargebacks” gross!

I agree

@caseypl wrote:This is great news. As a seller of car parts, ideally when damage claims come up, it would be nice if there was a requirement for a buyer to send side by side photos of my allegedly damaged in shipping item and their existing damaged item.
For example, had a guy claim a tail light I sold got damaged. This type of tail light about 60% of the time is a pain to get off the car and you have to basically use locking pliers and a certain method to get it off. A non-handy person probably wouldn't know how. The type of damage the buyer claimed was pretty indicative of someone trying to pry my (or his since he bought it) lens off and placed over his broken light.
I guess side by sides wouldn't really help there, but still, would be nice.
Car parts are the worst! I used to sell a lot of car parts and now I am staying away. People don’t check part numbers or anything. They know they can just have you send it to check and then send it back so why bother checking part numbers? They can just spend your money rather than check.

My previous message to seller(7,968GREEN_STAR Star)
This battery I start used it last Sunday, it is working but operates time is shorter than my older battery, my old one would work for 35 minutes in my trimmer, yours only can work for around 15 -20 minutes.I doubtful you may sent a wrong one. Please send me a barcode for return and refund.
New message from the seller : (7,968GREEN_STAR Star)
Hello, the battery was brand new. Wont be doing any partial refunds, but we do offer 30 day free returns. So long as the battery is in similar condition as it was. Basically as long as you didnt toss it around the back yard.
Open a return through ebay and our free label prints out.
The seller agree my return but still can't submit because the "Confirm return" button is disabled and didn't light up.

Right-click or long-press on a photo in the listing @kennyphung008 save that photo,
then upload that photo into the return, to submit your return request.
eBay says that the photo must be relevant to the return, and it definitely is because
-- any photo you take won't show that the battery has low capacity
-- any better than a photo directly from the listing.

Yes but if the seller send a customer something showing in good photos what this item looks like and the buyer uploaded a photo of something that looks completely different then THAT is Very good thing for seller to use as evidence. So, regardless of what these bad buyers send back in pictures, he said she said, that’s a bad thing for a buyer to do as the seller if in good standing can really let them have it on here now. Ebay protects sellers more than you would imagine on here right now.

Ok, said seller has 15 years of experience on here with 100 percent positive feedback showing that they send what is pictured and describe vs zero feedback buyer sending a picture showing something that looks significantly different than what is sent. It depends on your standing on here, your willingness to accept the return and pay the return shipping. Personally, if buyer sends me a photo telling me a bunch of nonsense with it they just get the send it back mantra and here is your return shipping label on us. Many of these people just do not proceed any further because many are looking for after sale discounts.
