Hello,
I am very worried right now as I believe I am being scammed. I recently sold a very expensive Rolex Watch to a buyer and the watch arrived today (7/28) and within 1-2 hours the buyer filed a claim indicating the watch was not inside the package. The link to the item is below:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/144127124096?hash=item218ea56280:g:dTQAAOSwJOFg~lAh
I sold the watch to an international buyer who had 1,172 feedback (however, as we know you can puchase eBay accounts or maybe he wants to throw his reputation away). The buyer's profile is: https://www.ebay.com/usr/no1wins
The buyer also has shifted names multiple times and won't pickup his phone.
Anyway, I have documented proof and video recording of me packaging the watch which can be seen here:

The drop off receipt (top tracking #)

My question is just simply asking what to do from here? I was told that this is a possibility of happening on eBay but I trusted this buyer because of their feedback. Furthermore I try to take precautions such as recording the boxing process. I have shipped thousands of packages with FedEx and I haven't had a single problem with a missing content or open package. What will eBay do from here to protect my sale? I always assumed selling on eBay was generally safe.
I tried calling the buyer almost 10 times and they didn't answer. Furthermore, their phone number is linked on Google as "Scam/Spammer" phone number and I didn't check this prior to shipping.
They are located in Canada so it makes it a bit harder to trace/locate them but I will do whatever I can to win this. Has anyone encountered a similar situation? Can anyone offer any advice?
Thank you sincerely,
Collin

Sorry, but your videos mean nothing. Neither ebay nor a court of law would even look at them. They are too easily faked.
Bottom line is you are almost certainly out your watch and the money. If a buyer claims the package was empty, ebay will side with the buyer every time.

You made the #1 basic mistake of selling on eBay, see below.

I am never listing/selling on eBay ever again.

I understand I could have had better quality videos but that was all I had in the current moment. Is there any recommendations you might have at all?

Do not sell Rolex watches on here unless you use their authentication program.

Bummer.
Yes you ARE being scammed
No your video is of no use
Never sell an item you can't afford to lose. Sorry I don't have better news.

Do I have any recourse with eBay? I have filed my claims and my proof with their return request. I'm not sure what else I can do.

You'll soon find out that videos don't mean anything to Ebay.
Just because you have a video of you packing the watch, it doesn't mean that's what you shipped.
Sorry, it sounds like you'll be out the watch and payment.

Hi there - so sorry you're going through this, but try to keep your head up. I've posted links below to 2 other posts where sellers have come out ahead in situations very similar to yours. Hopefully that will help, or at least give you an idea of where to go from here.

I think you don't understand at all.
There is ZERO video evidence ebay will look at period.

So basically the best solution is to accept return in full and refund buyer, supply them a "return label", then after that to open up a claim after the case is closed? Because if I let the 3 days elapse, then eBay keeps all of the final value fee right?
The final value fee is almost $800.

I'm adding another voice to this because you are not hearing others. There is nothing else you can do on eBay. Nothing else. Your videos are of no use here.
You've already admitted you were aware of the risk involved prior to posting your Rolex watch, but you chose to list it anyways. You allowed a buyer from another country to purchase this Rolex watch, thus eliminating being able to report this to authorities for what it is. If they were domestic you could file a police report and use that to appeal your FVF's on eBay, but Canadian authorities will likely not be too interested in taking an online report from another country.
I'm sorry for your loss but in all honesty you were warned, you've admitted that. Best of luck to you....

Before the 3 days elapses, I would suggest you first follow all the steps to reporting the buyer for fraud, as well as messaging the buyer as mentioned by the seller in this post:
If none of that works, don't refund yet! You first need to "accept" the return from the buyer. Ignore everything else, including the fact that they'll most likely send you back an empty box. Because if they do, that's mail fraud and one more report you can file. If you can't buy a label on eBay for any reason, you can buy one on pirateship.com and upload it to the case and/or to the buyer in a message.
The goal here is to very sternly hold your position and make it clear that you will take action against them - if it gets that far, your videos and photos will most likely come in quite handy. It isn't easy and I think what others are saying is that eBay will stay out of it. They're not going to "help" because it's considered a civil matter.

USPS will not knowingly deliver an opened and obviously empty package without affixing a sticker that says delivered without contents. Maybe Canada Post does the same thing. In the case ask the buyer for a picture of the sticker. Tell them that you want to file a rifling report so the PO can investigate the theft. That might cause them to back down if they think they'll be investigated. And contact the lost mail place in Atlanta and give them the serial number of the watch so they can look for it in case it fell out of the package during transit. Don't hold up much hope but some things get found and returned. My feeling is someone in customs saw what was in the package and well you can go figure the rest.
But do tell them to return the empty package so you get your fee back.
