I will try not to be rude but I will be blunt.
When are Ebay staff going to be honest with sellers as far as changes and reasons for them, deal with site issues as they should be dealt with and not sluff them off with what I call an unproductive answer.
This constant we will pass it on to the appropriate party and get back to you and a hundred variations there of, does absolutely nothing except get sellers more PO'd than they already are.
If we ran our business the way Ebay does, Ebay would run us all out the door.
If Ebay just does what they want without any support, may as well shut these chats down as they are not accomplishing anthing.

Hi Brian. I asked that question because I had a SNAD return opened that the buyer withdrew but it is still showing in my performance. I called CS and was told there is no recourse to have it removed. Is this true?

How will this percentage be determined? Will sellers be compared to sellers with the same number of sold items? Will the additional fees only be added to sold items within categories with the higher percentage or across the board for that seller?
Hi @fern*wood - Additional fees would only apply if you have a high 'Not as Described' return rate. Estimated delivery dates may be extended due to 'Item Not Received' concerns but fees wouldn't be charged. For more information on how these percentages are calculated and when the fees/extended delivery dates apply, please see the FAQs we shared with our latest Seller Update.
I have read that link and just reread it...but did not find the answers to my questions addressed there. Tyler gave additional info below about needing to have 10 returns before the fees kick in. Was that explained there somewhere? Are the fees only in the high % category or will they be charged for all sales for the seller in every category once they are flagged?

Multiple variables will play a role in the banner placements but I'll send this example on to see what we can learn. I'll keep you posted as soon as I have an update and/or additional insight I can provide. Thanks!
NOT was Bob said in the q/a.......... Another whack a mole program..... Where is the professionalism in this? If you want to limit the # of promos........then just say so, don't make us experiement, waste time trying to "get there"........................

Just thought of a second question.... When will the shipping supply coupons actually be worth something again? The selection of items have gotten worse and worse over the last few months.
Thanks 🙂
Hi @nc-daydreamer, we're constantly evaluating feedback from sellers to determine what shipping supplies we will offer. If I'm not mistaken, I believe we added another box option withing the last several months. If you have a specific request then I'll be happy to send it over to the shipping supplies team for consideration!

I think I can understand the rationale behind the new 14 day rule for Markdown Manager.
However, for a seller to keep track of which items are eligible to participate in a sale and which are not is obviously not very practical. Yet, when I launch a sale, eBay obviously can instantly determine which items are eligible and which aren't. So, wouldn't it be a good idea for ebay to provide us with a new tool that enables us to find the eligibility date for each listing IN ADVANCE of creating a Markdown Manager Sale?
Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - you're right that we can determine what items do and don't qualify at the time they're added to the sale. To help with that, the promotions manager has been adjusted to regularly check an item's eligibility and to mark the item down when it qualifies to do so.
There's not currently a tool that will do that outside of a Markdown sale event though, thanks!
I can see adding an item to the sale when the sale only has 3 days left to run would NOT please many........since that kills the ability to offer it again on sale for 14 days............... is there a way to turn OFF that feature????
Hi @dhbookds - not at this point in time, no. This is good feedback and I'll make sure it gets shared.
When an item is skipped from a sale the manager posts the date the item was listed (or revised?) so you can see which will activate before the sale ends and how much time before.
Tyler, If you manually remove the item from the sale before the listing is activated (but after the sale is activated) does that start the 14 day clock over?

Hi Heidi,
You say,
"There are quite a few factors we look at when it comes to promotions banners and their placements. Similar to Best Match, there isn't a singular way to guarantee your banner will display at the top of your listing. We would just encourage you to look at differing sellers and what they're offering to make sure your promotions are competitive to theirs."
This seems to contradict what Bob said recently, in which he ASSURED sellers that only REALLY lousy offers would have the banner below the listing. I don't see a 10% off sale as really lousy. For Heaven's sake, at least give us some guidelines...more than "look at other sellers"....Bob made clear, ebay doesn't want us running lousy sales. Fine. TELL us what ebay considers a lousy sale. I don't understand why this company thinks making everything into a guessing game for sellers is conducive to effecient selling. Can you explain that?
When I signed up for a store, I did it in part because of Promotions Manager and the ability to promote my sales. You know, some of this stuff, it starts to feel almost like a bait and switch after a while.... "sign up for stores! Promote your Markdowns! Signed up? Great! Oh, we're now going to make it impossible for you to know in advance whether your sale will actually be promoted in your listing or not..."
Come on, you guys can do better than this!
Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - The two most important questions to ask yourself when creating your promotions are:
- Does the promotion encourage buyer engagement because it's a good value?
- Is the offer relevant to the way buyers shop?
You don't want to create offers that aren't going to drive conversion such as 'Save 5% when you buy 3 or more" or "Save $50 on high-end cameras when you buy 2 or more". I would encourage you to put yourself in your buyer's shoes to see what would most likely drive additional purchases.
Bob kept things at high level in his video but I'll be happy to reach out and see if there is any additional information we have available. We'll keep you posted!

I GET that.
It makes sense.
What does NOT make sense is this guessing game: is my sale a lousy sale? Or, Is it a good sale, deserving of a banner at the top?

Hi @fern*wood - I just went over that page too and there isn't anything mentioned there. I'll get that reported and see if we can get that added.
The fees will apply only in the high % category, so if a member has a low return rate in Jewelry, but a Very High in Electronics, they would be looking at the additional fee only on items sold in the Electronics category.

This is a really good question @coffeebean832 - the clock starts when looking at price changes, not if it was added to a sale. So in this scenario removing an item that is not yet activated should not reset the timer.

Hi @lecroy3, we look at the number of returns opened, we are not looking at the resolution or closure reasons since those fall under the defect metrics on the Seller Dashboard. With that said, it's important to note that sellers are compared to their peers return rates. If you periodically have a buyer open a return who then withdraws it, it's very likely your peers experience the same thing as well. Additionally, we have protections in place to ensure that your metrics aren't impacted by situations outside of your control such as carrier disruptions, system bugs, and severe weather.

Hi @papermoneyforme,
Sorry that the chats aren't living up to your expectations. We strive to answer questions first time, but no one eBay employee is an expert in all parts of the marketplace. If we do not have the information to hand that will enable us to answer the questions accurately, we'd rather contact the best person at eBay so that we can provide the best answer to the Community.
If you're not finding the chat hours useful, I have good news. eBay makes available to you a number of channels to contact us. You can contact customer support via our Help & Contact portal. If you'd prefer to contact us in writing, you can get in touch with our fantastic Social Media Customer Support Team at the following pages:

Any update to the markdown manager? Very frustrating to sell with this new update.
Hi @etel, @my-cottage-books-and-antiques, @dhbookds, @coffeebean832, I'm happy to let all of you know that because of the feedback we heard from members of the Community, we no longer require 14 days after an item is removed from a markdown sale before it can be placed on sale again.
