Where did you hear you had to supply 3 months of bank statements? Bit hard to do with a new checking account. I heard they expect A statement plus a voided check (hard to do with an account you don't have paper checks with. Another cost to get paper checks for ONE check used).
I still don't understand why ebay requires all this intrusive information when other platforms which also use Adyen as a Payments processor do not. Surely they're subject to meeting these same AML we keep hearing is the reason?

Good afternoon
On the sellers boards this past week sellers have seen a surge in listings that would generally be considered collectibles i.e. Minnie Mouse Ears, Video Games, etc. and not essential items being removed under the auspices of "Price Gouging"
I have read all of the posted eBay policies regarding Price gouging. But I have found that most of what is stated within those policy pages is very vague.
Price gouging policy
What is the policy?
- Items that are considered essential must be offered at a reasonable price
- Inflating the price of goods in response to an emergency or disaster is not allowed
- eBay may restrict the sale of items that are susceptible to price gouging behavior - for example, by only allowing items to be sold by authorized sellers
- Sellers must follow all applicable laws and regulations that apply to the sale of their items
In one of the treads from Monday @Anonymous stated "you can contact Customer Service to discuss your concerns."
I am looking to purchase new products to sell here and on other online marketplaces. I primarily sell collectible items. No food, No medical, No personnel protection. Just collectibles.
My question is if I contact eBay customer service either through email or by phone in advance before purchasing these products and discuss and diclose to them what those products are, what categories I am going to want to list them in, and what price I will be asking for these items and am told that yes those items are allowed to be sold at the prices that I stated; will I be able to take that CS reps word to the bank?
Can I be assured that if I were to do this that if those items are taken down after I have made a significant investment that I will be able to have them restored at the prices that I received authorization for in advance from customer service?
I am attempting to be proactive and not waste $1,000's of dollars for items that are not allowed on eBay.
Hi @go-bad-chicken, I want to add the second policy page that was also discussed recently in these discussions, for our Disaster & Tragedy policy: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/disaster-tragedy-policy?id=5051. While a seller can speak with Customer Service to discuss their concerns in more detail, we are not able to provide definitive pricing guidance for every situation. Various factors will be considered when we determine if a listing is violating our price-gouging policy, and what is considered an unreasonable price may change over time.
That being said, the items you are describing are not something that would be likely to fall under the related policies we've been discussing. While a collectible may become a violation of our Disaster & Tragedy policy if a recent disaster or tragedy has occurred that is related to the item (example: a jersey for a recently deceased basketball player), these situations are few and far between and this has always been a possibility. If you have not run into these issues in the past, this should be an indication to you of how uncommon these types of removals are.
In short, though we cannot provide the item specific type of information you are looking for, if you are listing items at a reasonable price and not seeking to take advantage of others during a crises, you should be fine. If a listing is removed as a violation, a seller is notified of the reasons why. If the removal is done in error, we will review for reinstatement and coaching to the teammate that made a mistake.

Several people have asked for a excellent post for a Weekly Chat (or 2) dedicated to Managed Payments.
I think it would be MUCH better if forcing new people into MP were suspended until the world gets back to normal after this pandemic
And continue to have weekly chats on general topics, especially while phone support is not available.

Below is a screen shot of one of my 4000 listings, all with the same issues. First my cut off time for same day shipping is 11:00AM EST. This screen shot below is from today at 4:05PM Why is there a count down timer for 52mins. My same day shipping time was cut off 5 hours ago.
Second issue, I ship UPS Ground, UPS Ground from and to the same zip code is guaranteed by UPS to be delivered in ONE day. eBay is displaying Apr 14 when is should be showing Arpil 10th. This is FOUR days longer than reality.
Very Frustrated,
John Norman
Thank you for reporting this, @maxoptical. I'll get this passed along to the appropriate teams for review and let you know if we need anything else to investigate.

That is burdensome and unfair. The information is available, it should be shared. We should be given the opportunity to study it and prepare for such a significant change which is likely to have impacts to how we keep are books and other impacts.
I honestly don't understand why Ebay is reluctant to share this info with us and allow us time to prepare our little businesses.
Hi @mam98031,
Thanks for raising this again. I know there is an appetite from the community to speak directly with the payments team. I've raised this internally and we should have news to share regarding a community chat with the payments team soon.
I sincerely appreciate your hard work. We bring it up again an again as we can't get answers elsewhere because we aren't yet in MP. So we can't access MP threads or anything. I have to admit I have not tried to call the dedicated number for the team so I have no knowledge if that is still working or not.
But for many of us I thing a Chat VERY SOON would be FANTASTIC!!! More public so more can get some answers that concern them because it is likely most those concerns have been address and fixed in MP, we just don't know it yet.

Sellers should be allowed to send small items using First Class Letter post without being dinged for it. It makes no sense to send a $1 item in a $3 package.
The buyers prefer First Class Letter Post, of course, because it saves them money.
But we sellers are not allowed to provide it, because a demerit for shipping without tracking harms our status for 3 to 12 months.
Hi @vrykalak - you're right that shipping with tracking doesn't always make sense for lower cost items, and I want to reiterate that you are absolutely allowed to offer the shipping options that work best for your business.
However, to be a Top Rated Seller we expect that the majority of your items are shipped with tracking. Being a Top Rated account allows you to qualify for a 10% Final Value Fee discount on the cost of the item, as well as access to the enhanced seller protections. Ultimately, though, it may not make financial sense for you to spend a dollar to save a dime (so to speak). You will need to make that decision based on your business model.
Thanks!

I hope youre all well, its sad theres no way to contact anyone to talk about my issue here but ill do my best
this story started March 29th 2020, the buyer made an offer for the item (which was 150$ less than my original price) and we went back and forth until i accepted the offer for my item which was a little more reasonable.
Please take note, if you were to look on the buyers account you would see that they are currently and previously were selling the same item for MUCH more after they bought this additional set from me. I knew it was a possibility they were going to just do the same with the items they purchased from me and put an extreme mark up on them once they received them but that didnt matter to me. I needed the money i sold them for in order to pay some bills after recently losing my job due to this global crisis we are all currently experiencing.
So I sold it, they and right away they asked for two days to make payment - i said no problem, they didnt pay within that two days they asked for & an unpaid item case was opened against them, they paid two days later (total of four days).
I kept in touch reminding them to make payment and letting them know when i would be shipping it, how i would be shipping it and when it arrived i sent a mail to check in and make sure everything was ok.
A day later from that particular email they respond with two words, "Looks Different", so now im feeling like they will try to say that the items i sent to them are not exactly was described in my listing. I told them the only thing that i agree looks different is the backing for one of the pins in the picture is yellow but I noticed my mistake and put the correct, original (black) pin backing on it before i shipped the package.
The items are exactly as i described them and i have all the pictures and receipts and proof to show that i have done nothing wrong here.
I am sending you guys this message preemptively in case this buyer is trying to rip me off and get an unwarranted refund for bogus reasons. I have been an ebay member long time (20+ years) and never felt this negativity from any buyer throughout all of my transactions, my flawless buyer and seller feedback should prove im an honest seller/community member.
please help me, how do i avoid being ripped off here??
thank you for your time
Hi @0netwo0netwo, since the buyer hasn't opened a return, it's best to communicate with them to find out what they mean when they say it looks different and to try and resolve any concerns they may have.
I do want to be candid and mention that if a return is opened and we are asked to step in then we'll base our decision on the reason the buyer selected when creating the return. If they select a Not As Described reason then we would likely approve a return and expect a refund once the item is delivered back to you. If you offer free returns or are Top Rated then you may be eligible for enhanced protections. You'll find more information about that here.

Now that the CDC is recommending that people wear fabric face masks (NOT THE MEDICAL TYPE THAT SHOULD BE RESERVED FOR HOSPITALS AND HEALTH CARE WORKERS) will eBay allow sellers to list their homemade ones on-line and not cancel their auctions. Which, by the way, there are 1,000’s of listings for these still on ebay. Maybe if you let more people list these items, it would bring the prices down. Competition as a way of doing that.
I realize many people can make their own and I applaud that and encourage them to do so. However, there are many who do not sew, have the fabric, have the elastic, sewing machine, thread, etc. The fabric masks are recommended by the CDC to help protect the wearer from spreading diseases to others. Why would eBay be against spreading this awful deadly disease? I realize there are those wo are fearful of homemade masks. Then don't buy them. However, there are many who are not and want them. Where does eBay expect people to get these? There are none to be found in the stores.
eBay has been canceling a lot of these listings stating price gouging. Isn’t it up to the buyer as to how much is too much for their pocket book. There are plenty of sellers listing them at a reasonable price. Frankly, it’s the USPS shipping costs that drives some of these prices up. You can’t ship a 3 oz package for less than $3.80 anymore.

Why? Why should eBay care whether or not I ship with tracking, as long as my customers are happy?
