Does it hurt my seller performance rating to end a listing for any reason including just because I changed my mind about wanting to sell the item?

Hi @nomatchingshoes - the answer to that depends a lot on how you listed the items and when you're ending the listings in question.

In general, if you're ending a listing before the item has sold, there is not an impact to your Seller Performance. If the transaction has a buyer already (a winning bidder, or they have committed to purchase your item) and you need to cancel it there may be an impact to your Performance (more detail on that here). Thanks!

Can I choose the time frame upfront for a "Buy It Know" listing or "Auction" without ending the listing or is it a predetermined time frame?

Hi @nomatchingshoes - Buy-it-Now listings (also called 'Fixed Price') is a set duration called 'Good Til Cancelled'. It will renew every month until you end the listing or it sells.

Auctions have a default duration of 7 days, but you can make it shorter or longer if you need to!

Is it possible as a seller who is not a high volume seller to be able to post more than 12 photos in the listings?

Hi @nomatchingshoes, I believe you may be asking about motors listings, and if so, the answer is yes; you can find details here.

If you are not referencing motors listings, then the answer is no - only 12 photos can be uploaded to listings outside of the motors category.

Good afternoon eBay support team!  I hope this finds you well!

Subject: eBay needs to delay July Managed Payments indoctrination

If I had a direct feed to eBay’s upper management this message would be directed to them.  But since I don’t you are the next best thing (please don’t feel slighted by that, it’s not intended to be one) and my hope is this is passed on to them.

It makes sense for eBay to postpone the July indoctrination of more accounts getting placed in Managed Payments.  Currently eBay has no phone support to my knowledge as reported on numerous threads here on The Community and there is no guarantee with the Covid-19 pandemic that it will be restored by July or if some is restores it may not be adequate enough to support the needs of regular calls as well as those new to MP.

With California’s Covid-19 quarantine rules I suspect that eBay’s main offices is pretty much a ghost town and I doubt there is anybody or very few people working on the program.  Managed Payments is not a completely debugged system as reported on numerous threads here on The Community so it makes sense to postpone the next buildup of accounts until such time that all departments are back in 100% capacity and on location at their normal business offices.

Additionally, is there one place to go and see the status of ALL issues with the program and what it’s progress and the features and benefits currently implemented and the wish list for the future?

Mr. L

Hi @mr_lincoln - thanks for sharing your opinions! A few comments:

Managed Payments is a program that continues to be worked on - and our goal is to make sure that the transition is seamless for those accounts invited to pre-register. There has not been any plan that I'm aware of to alter or delay the roll out of invitations.

There isn't a place to view the ongoing projects and improvements for Payments, but a large portion of the Spring Seller Update was about their plans. You can review those here. Thanks!

First red highlight above ... my point exactly, it is not a completed and debugged program .

2nd red Highlight above ... "thanks" if you are able or willing to pass these concerns on to those making decisions regarding the program

I read the link provided from the Seller update ... there was no mention of any support documentation on transaction history for tax reporting purposes ... this year I have to report sales to my state quarterly.  I have read some threads on The Community that MP only keeps records for 90 days and then someone else posted they keep it longer ... the bottom line question is WHAT does MP keep and for HOW LONG and in WHAT format?  pdf file? CSV formatted date range programmable database?  Excel spreadsheet?   These are all very reasonable requests when looking at a complete eBay business and not just making it easy for Buyers to pay ...

These are great detailed questions @mr_lincoln! The Community Team is unable to address detailed managed payments questions. If you've received an invitation email you are able to contact a payments teammate directly who can address those questions for you. Thanks!

Ebay was somewhat cryptic on the fact that they were giving protections during the current pandemic spreading like wildfire around the nation.

Ebay has stated they will not down grade sellers status during this time, but are they counting late shipments against us? The only way I can have packages scanned is at the counter and it feels unsafe to wait on line.

My regular mail carrier has not been working and the floaters do not always scan packages when pickup is requested. Similarly when packages are dropped in the collection bin they don't always get scanned on time, even though transit times aren't typically effected in either case.

Is the only way to ensure on time delivery to take my chances and wait on line as usual or are we going to be protected from late shipments during this time where I can drop packages after hours in the collection bin?

Hi @coinslabz26 - happy to clarify! On-time Shipping as a metric has not been suspended. This means you can still get credit by either getting an acceptance scan within your handling time, having the item scan as delivered within the estimated delivery date given to your buyer or having the buyer state they received the item on time when leaving feedback.

With that being said - if your Late Shipment Rate does increase, it will not impact your seller level, per our announcement from a few weeks ago (link here).

Thank you. A follow up question. Will a late shipment now start impacting my seller performance after 90 days or will they be de-scored and not count towards my yearly metric. Example if I have 1 late shipment today will it effect my % after the 90 days.

My current late shipment rate is 0.0% going back to April 2019. Will a late shipment today for example effect my % in say December 2020. Or will it still show 0.0% because late shipments during this time were not counted? This assumes of course I don't have any late shipments after the 90 days

Hi @coinslabz26 - I don't have specifics on this. As I hear back I'll keep you updated here. 🙂

I have a second concern a I paid for a purchase with my eBay credit card using eBay as the checkout (not PayPal) for the first time. A seller needed to cancel the transaction for nefarious reasons, and asked me to accept a refund thru paypal, not eBay, because they said it was impossible for them to do that.

I went thru with the transaction, but I ended up not getting a full refund because I had to pay paypal fees. So, again, I'm just shopping at eBay in order to give away money for nothing but headache in return.

Hi @little.font.lord.leroy, based on the information you've shared it sounds like the seller may be in managed payments. Sellers in managed payments definitely can refund their buyers on eBay. PayPal does not and should not be involved at all in the refund process. It sounds like this seller gave you inaccurate information, and I'm sorry to hear that's what happened.

I have reviewed.   This may be what you were told,...I’m going by what is on the website.

The fees in question are from Feb 15th thru Mar 15th,......WHY would this be deferred to May and June??

That is not what it says.

Hi @vintagemodernglam, the portion you have circled does not apply to you, because you are not on an End-of-the month invoicing cycle. The day you pay your fees is not the same as the your invoice date. Since you are not on an End-of-the month invoice cycle, the date that you are approved for deferral does not impact how your eligible fees will be deferred.

eBay Fee Deferral program.JPG

While you were approved on March 27th, if you look at the portion of this page that applies to you, you will see that the date does not matter for your billing cycle. You are welcome to contact Customer Service if you have specific questions about how your fees will be deferred.

What is the best way to find out the best or average success rate of specific types of items to sell on eBay without having  to do a specific item search?  I can certainly do a google search but I would like to think that eBay knows its market better than some outside marketing source.

Hi @nomatchingshoes, I believe the information you are looking for would be most easily found through Terapeak. I recommend you check out our Help Page on this tool here.

Hi @nomatchingshoes, to my knowledge those products should be ok. You'll find a listing of restricted items here and I suggest reviewing it before listing to ensure the items you want to list are allowed.

WHO can rectify this???

I’ve ask three times for someone in management to call me.

I do not understand no phone service,... Covid does not, as far as we know, go through the phone lines.

Hi @vintagemodernglam, at this time it will not be possible to schedule a phone call. The recent payment you have made was done correctly, as the related fees would not be a part of the deferral program and subsequently there is nothing to rectify. You are able to continue to discuss your account specific billing details with Customer Service by responding to the email you received.

You can review our recent announcement on why we are currently not offering phone support here.

Hi @millcreekrescue909 - seems like maybe that wouldn't be the best time to sign up to pre-register then. 🙂

Honestly, this discussion board is no more useful than the regular back and to emails with the reps.   Now I have to keep searching for my message,....ebay has to get it together!  This is insane.

Ebay needs to reverse those fees asap, with the $36 overdraft fee, otherwise in five days I’ll be hit with another $36 fee.   This is crazy!   Look at the website screen shot.  My Feb 15th to Mar 15th, which was invoiced on Mar 31st, should have been divided into April and May.   I DO NOT HAVE ANY MONEY!

vintagemodernglam_1-1585773869358.jpeg

Hi @vintagemodernglam, I want to clarify something that I think has led to this misunderstanding - the payment that was made on the 31st of March was not on your invoice date. Your invoice is not generated on the same day that your automatic payment processes. Your invoice date is the 15th. I know that these are stressful times and that you were not expecting to pay your fees yesterday, but those fees were not a part of this program and the charge was processed correctly.

Hello

I received an email yesterday from eBay titled "New managed payments option during unprecedented times"

In that email eBay announce that they were offering me the opportunity to "pre-register" with managed payments by verifying your business information and providing a bank account. We don't have a problem in general with eBay intermediating payments. But before we turn over our bank account as well as our business credentials we would like to see a term sheet showing us ALL OF THE FEES associated with Managed Payments. Specifically what are the fees associated with cross boarder trades (international sales) for both sellers as well as buyers. We have read every single page that eBay has made available on its site regarding Managed Payments, but no where does it detail what the fees are for currency conversions and how eBay will be calculating those rates. I do not feel like I or any other seller should have to provide my financial information BEFORE I am allowed to find out what ALL OF THE FEES are.

Here is a portion of the email that I received from eBay yesterday.

New managed payments option during unprecedented times

Date: March 31, 2020 at 2:01:44 PM CDT

Starting next month, we will offer the option to pre-register

In these extraordinary times, we want to support your business planning. As you may be aware, eBay continues to progressively enable sellers on managed payments in 2020, and has processed over $2B in payments already. Starting next month, we will be offering you an opportunity to pre-register your business for managed payments. Pre-registration allows you extra time to prepare your business, and for us to secure your enablement date as early as possible. Once you pre-register, nothing will change in your selling routine. Starting Late July, your account will be activated for managed payments, and we will notify you as your activation date approaches.

You can pre-register in a few simple steps, including verifying your business information and providing a bank account. The information you provide will allow us to send your payouts and comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and know-your-customer obligations, which helps keep eBay a trusted marketplace. You will be able to track your pre-registration progress on the Payments tab in Seller Hub.

FEES

  •             What will my rates be?

Information on fees and how they are calculated will be made available as part of the pre-registration process. Most sellers can expect to see savings compared to their current payments processing fees. All sellers will also benefit from a consolidated billing structure and with more visibility into sales and payouts. With eBay managing your payments, you will pay payments processing fees only to eBay, and not separately to another processor. This means you will no longer pay fees directly to PayPal.

Hi @europeanantiques, seller who have been invited to join or pre-register for managed payments can contact customer service for more details about specific questions, such as the one you've brought up here. The managed payments team will be happy to answer your questions.

As you guys are aware, the threads are alive with concerns over the price gouging going on, as they should be.  And I confident Ebay takes it seriously as they are actively removing 10’s of 1,000’s of listings.  I know we discussed this some last week and I found it informative.  I do still have one question.

The announcement Ebay made said certain items were BANNED from the site, yet new listings by sellers that are clearly not on their preapproved list for the items keep happening over and over again.  Increasing Ebay’s workload to manage the site and increases the stress of those members that see these listings continuing to get posted.

The announcement said in part:

Effective immediately, eBay will block new listings and start to remove listings that sell:

  • Health care masks including N95/N100 and surgical masks
  • Hand Sanitizer/Gel
  • Disinfecting Wipes

But that isn’t what is happening because we have lots and lots of new listings.

Hi @mam98031, we are doing our best to address this, but as you know there are those who seek ways to circumvent our blocks to list items. We are proactively working to remove violating listings on the site. If you see listings that shouldn't be on the site then please report them.

I absolutely understand that and while others frequently say on the threads that Ebay isn't doing anything, I know that not to be true.  But my point was much of those posters are seeing all these new listings and thinking they have been there for awhile instead of noticing they are new listings.

In the announcement Ebay said EBAY WILL BLOCK NEW LISTINGS for those items stated.  That is NOT happening.  My question is WHY?

Hi @mam98031, I can only reiterate that we are blocking new listings. While you may see new listings on the site that bypass our blocks and/or filters, we are working to remove these listings from the site.
