Why is it not possible to talk to a real person for customer support at eBay?
Has anybody been able to contact actual humans at eBay to resolve issues?
And why does eBay give the impression that it is possible with a bogus phone number and passcode that is directed to an automated message, that then go tells users to read FAQs or call us (which what was doing in the call (thus an unending logical loop to never get human support). It also appears that response e-mails from eBay are also automatic "canned" responses.
This situation is highly upsetting and demonstrates a lack of respect for users, especially for a company that has been around as long as eBay.

That number is only available to members in the US and Canada. Does eBay.jp not have their own phone number.

For eBay support in Japan, try starting at the following site:
For general questions you can try asking on the discussion boards.
In the US and Canada you can use the Help & Contact link at the bottom of the page. Use the "Contact us" link and follow the prompts for your issue and you should eventually wind up on a page with a chat option. Choose that, and the last option that appears in the chat window -- use the "See more" option -- should be "Contact an Agent".
Or you can contact eBay via social media:

Did you notice that I'm typing in English? If I wanted Japanese language support, I would type in Japanese on their forum. Also, that does not address the problem of the looping automated response message, when people are trying to contact a real person. eBay customer support is simply horrendous.
Twitter and Facebook is an attempt to sidestep the issue. Twitter and Facebook would not be a better answer than eBay's own community forum or eBay's customer support. Well unless you are insinuating that people should use Facebook Marketplace instead of eBay.

That is not true about ebay.co.jp. If you could read Japanese, you would know that they primarily just provide information in Japanese. It's like a translation of content of eBay.com, just in Japanese and some extra country specific details. That does not help with problem resolution. Also eBay the U.S. based company, is the final arbitrator on all things. Meaning regardless of eBay site, you can go to the .com.

Same thing for me. I returned an item with eBays return label and it is not showing my return. It asked for a manual upload for tracking and then says it does not "recognize" the number! The seller received my return, signed for it and has already relisted the item. I have not received my refund for over $500.00. Ebay is impossible to contact through phone or chat. They give a bogus phone number which does not even has enough numbers in it and a one time pass code. I cannot solve this issue by reading their information and I have no way to contact them and have spent hours on this. I finally called Paypal and opened a case through them. I have been buying and selling on eBay for over 20 years. This is not acceptable!

If you have a general question that does not involve account details, you can try asking a question here or on one of the other discussion boards. Lots of experienced users can offer advice and suggestions. For best results, start your own thread rather than tacking on a message to an unrelated thread.
If you need to contact eBay and you are in North America, you can request a call back from eBay:
Or you may be able to contact eBay via social media:
