Shipping & Payments Tab / Get Rates calculator reloads page

On the Shipping and Payments Tab where you enter QTY, COUNTRY & ZIP CODE and click "Get Rates" for multiple items...  The page just reloads, cannot see what shipping would be for multiple items.  Tried different multiple listings and tried  MS Edge, Chrome, Firefox & Opera browsers with same result.  Anyone else?.

Re: Shipping & Payments Tab / Get Rates calculator reloads page

I would almost understand this happening due to how broken the code and calculator is.

I'd expect it because of the above and In your examples for the FC not being able to translate/migrate change to PM.

But I'm seeing it now on simple First Class flat rate transactions.

All 4 items having a flat rate with a add x for each additionla item

It broke the 4 piece cart order into 2 tansactions of 2 each and it is very easy to see that they were from the same cart since the second transaction's shipping charges only showed the plus (X) for each item

That is seriously messed up and beyond explanation.

I'd almost understand if it were a buy 3 get 1 free with 4 and it broke it down into 2 transactions (IE 3 at full price and the third as a seperate transaction order) for that reason.

Even went so far as asking a Paypal rep about the 2 seperate transactions because now I am getting hit for 2 transactions fee. His educated guess/response was that it was probably because of this (buy get promo) and it was breaking it down that way (3+1) and when I told him that No it was 2 and 2 he started laughing and said "wait, what!? That doesn't even make any sense"

pretty sad.

"But I'm seeing it now on simple First Class flat rate transactions."

What's the weight of each item? I'm wondering if it has something to do with maximum weight for FCP.

Maybe message the buyers and ask what happened when they used Checkout. I should do that too.

BTW, I'm using calculated rate.

There was (and maybe still is) an issue with eBay's Global Shipping Program wherein "multiples of an item" and "multiple items" would be charged the listing-specified flat rate amount for each multiple, for the shipping to Kentucky. For example, if a buyer purchased, let's say 10 of some item, and the listing-specified flat rate shipping is, let's say $3, then the buyer was charged $30 for you to ship the package to Kentucky... As in $30 PLUS the international portion of the GSP shipping amount! Same thing happened if the buyer purchased different items. Again, think about the underlying illogic; is there a parallel? Maybe the same "intelligence" is at work.

(When I called eBay to complain about my buyers being overcharged for GSP and report the bug, the eBay rep asked me, "You don't want the extra money?")

For that example I mentioned- they were 8 oz each.

So as you logically mentioned they (2) are above the 15.99 oz limit -But, following logic this would happen with ALL of my transactions that are above 2 units and on every buy 3 get 1 with 4 transaction.

It does not , it is random, does not have any ryhme or reason pertaining to zip code, location, domestic or otherwise.

As I mentioned before in previous discussions between us. I gave up on using the calculated rate after I lost faith in the function of the calculator and after just being plain annoyed about refunding transactions here and there when I noticed a calculation error. And for a vast majority of my items just easier to just quote a flat cost plus $1 for each extra item. That way everyone gets charged the same shipping rate -depending only on the number of items purchased.

I am not using GSP.  For reasons you stated and that FCMI is the option most overseas buyers ask for and would choose for the items I sell. Although it would be helpful to be able to offer both options.  Still have had no response to that option becoming available.

Their response to the overcharge does not surpsrise me at all.

Over 3 months broken now, what other company/business can do that and still be a business. **bleep**. $60 a month and 9.15% in fees... cmon ebay swallow your pride and ask for help from Amazon, Walmart... or even small market places that have functioning shipping calculators. Stop messing with stupid stuff and focus on what really matters

How long is however long it takes eBay to go out of business. They're NOT going to fix this or even acknowledge that it's a problem: FUHGEDDABOUDIT!

Yep, it does plonk you back onto the shipping and payments tab, and still no multi item total quotes.

The fix also managed to break it completely in the old Firefox 3/6/24 browser I use for much of my eBay work, and almost all of my searching for selling research, buying, and forum question answering. The "get rates" button is now totally dead and useless in that browser. Likely going to result in far fewer detailed forum responses from me on shipping and store/item visibility questions, and as they are intent on breaking everything, likely less buying and selling on my part.

Every day brings my a step close to just walking away.

Thank you for confirming that any hope that I had of getting this "calculator" fixed is now gone.

Buyers will now need to grab a pen and paper or an abacus or both for verification process.

tyler@ebay

I'm politely asking again that this be looked into.

You have 2 users here conversing & commenting on an issue that without question is having a negative impact on both the buying and the selling experience. (Those 2 users that I will add have a combined experience HERE of almost 40 years between them - I will not take my time to add the tenure of all the others commenting here - that should say enough)

And that THIS is only a small part/piece of complaints about the calculator.

The lack of this tool (working properly or even at all) is now making us got to USPS.com/Fed Ex/UPS to get rate quotes for buyers. Doesn't that seem a bit ridiculous that we have to leave the site to do such a simple amd necessary thing like get an accurate quote for shipping for a venue that's primary business is buying and shiping items?

I have personally posted about issues with even the check out calculator not calculating properly.

Or buyers being overcharged repeatedly (needing to be refunded) because we can't fix issues we don't personally see until after the fact.

(Review my last report to Customer Service from Saturday 8/11 to verify that FACT)

I have had just about enough of being told that by CS that the reason the sytem is not working is that "you are offering combined shipping and combined payments, that is confusing the sytem"

I hate being treated like my opinion doesn't matter or that I'm just plain stupid.

This needs to stop.

Hi @toomstoys - the issue with the page reloading is a known tech problem and one that has been being worked on and hopefully corrected.

The quantity issue is something that is also known and still being worked on. I've gone through and gotten members added who have not yet been included on the ticket.

Thanks for the tag!

tyler@ebay

Thank you for chiming in,commenting, and your attention to this ...

" I've gone through and gotten members added who have not yet been included on the ticket. "

But, honestly, I'm confused by that and I'm trying not to be accusatory or snarky but wouldn't this be EVERY Ebay user ?

tyler@ebay

I have not received any update on when these items/glitches/issues/failures in functionality will be fixed.

Nor have I have received a response to my direct question.

So I will ask it again re-worded.

If these issues are both verified known issues, and with the importance of getting and giving acccurate shipping quotes ,and the fact that this IS affecting every single Ebay user (buyers and sellers) worldwide why are we not fixing this?

Hi @toomstoys, sorry for the delayed response on this - as Tyler has been out of the office for the past month, your @mentions were not received. I am happy to confirm that this is being reviewed and also clarify that this is not something that while this is a known issue, it is not affecting every user worldwide. Despite only affecting a small portion of users, this is still something we are working to resolve as soon as possible.

At this time we have no other information to update the thread with but will be certain to provide additional details as they become available. Thank you for your patience while we work on a fix.

Thanks for clarifying that .........I think?

Ok , so it is not affecting everyone?

Can anyone here (tagged, reading, or otherwise) tell me someone that this IS working for?

Even the multitude of CS reps that I have spoken to personally (on other issues & I than bring this one up) and they can never get this to work the way it did,the way it should.

6+ Months after this was officially reported - we are still using the "as soon as possible"  line?

trinton@ebay    Good grief... Now you're adding insult to injury!

I haven't been able to find anyone this IS working for. AND, obviously you and the rest of eBay have been IGNORING all of the threads about the broken shipping calculator. Your post virtually PROVES that eBay is deliberately leaving in place the broken shipping calculator to force all sellers to offer "free" shipping.

So here's what I'm going to do from now on: I'm going to forward a copy of your post along with a link to this thread TO EVERY BUYER OF MY STUFF. Also, I'm going to forward the same to everyone I know personally who buys and/or sells on eBay and ask them to at least chime in here, and if they can devote the time, to call in to eBay support to report the non-issue that you claim this is.

Maybe everyone else here will now do the same, and when the support queues reach 24 hours wait this will finally become an issue... Because OBVIOUSLY that's what it takes.

eBay's motto:  APATHY.

"I'm curious how does ebay know it's only affecting a small portion of people..."

Most likely it's based upon the number of "complaints" received.

Here's even better: Post item IDs of listings in which the tab DOES work.

ALSO: In ANY professionally-run BUSINESS, when an employee is "out of the office" someone is assigned to cover their responsibilities, because to do otherwise is IRRESPONSIBLE, to say the very least. GEEZ! My head is about to explode!

THIS MAY NOT BE AFFECTING EVERY USER WORLDWIDE BUT IT IS DEFINITELY AFFECTING WAY MORE WHAN A SMALL PORTION.  (MULTI-MILLIONS IN THE USA ALONE is not a small portion) PERIOD!

"Despite only affecting a small portion of users, this is still something we are working to resolve......"

Yup and that's another reason why I'm calling shenanigans on that. The "small portion" doesn't seem to matter.

Maybe not to them but it does to me - it's affecting my income and my sanity.

If it was just me, you, and a couple others then they are basically saying that it wouldn't matter and that they're not going to lift a finger or do anything to resolve it (....oh wait ..................that is in practice what they have said, right?)

They must mean the "small portion" that refuses to bend to their will and offer free shipping so that this issue will just go away and won't matter.

I get it.

NO - sorry I won't do that.

"I'm curious how does ebay know it's only affecting a small portion of people..."

And that too is another reason why I will not and refuse to let this one go.

What I mean is , just how much is a small portion ?  (I'd give my right ..........arm for a small portion of Jeff Bezo's bank account.)

But It's what they're hoping for and what they want/need you to believe...........if they believe in it enough and keep repeating it over and over again they can make it real.

It's just a flesh wound, no harm no foul.

Shake it off.  (arm hits ground)

"ALSO: In ANY professionally-run BUSINESS, when an employee is "out of the office" someone is assigned to cover their responsibilities, because to do otherwise is IRRESPONSIBLE, to say the very least."

In all fairness - I'm almost 100% certian that that was not Triton that responded to my post. I Believe it was another  un-named member of the support team finally following up on his pages.
