Photo editor not working

I am unable to edit photos as I am building a listing. I upload the photos but when I hover over thumbnails, the only option is to delete. There is no "edit photo" option. I found the bug while building a sell similar listing on my laptop, using Chrome. I switched to my pc and found the same thing. I cleared my cache and re-started. I tried Edge, the problem persists. Any ideas?

No, but it isn't just you. I called in a report yesterday evening about this. eBay said they had some problems related to listing that they thought this could be related to. The rep I talked to seemed to believe that it would be fine by this morning but it is not. He told me to call back on Saturday to follow-up so I guess I just hold tight until then. I've been working between my laptop and my phone using my phone to edit photos. It is extremely frustrating and inconvenient, to say the least.

When you have a problem with Chrome, Edge usually has the same problem because Edge is built on the Chrome engine. Use Firefox or another browser to check whether the problem is browser specific.

Thanks for that info. Looks like it is working on Firefox. I hope they are able to patch Chrome soon because that is the browser I use and have all my cross-listing set up for.

@thecollectionbuyer what happens if you click on the image, not just hover?

Clicking on the image works for me to bring up the editing options, though a couple times it seemed a little glitchy and I had to click a second time.

Happened to me today for the first time.  I believe I just got "updated" as my screen looks slightly different.  Clicking on the image works some of the time, but not all.  

Not being able to edit a photo is quite frustrating.  Please fix, Ebay.

Well, at least I know it's not just me, thanks for responding. I think I would like to report this also. How do you reach a person?

I got the same issue after installing Firefox as well.

That screenshot looks totally different from what I see. I wish I were tech savvy enough to show you what I see. I tried clicking on the photo but nothing changes.

Also, since you said it worked in FireFox, I checked and am seeing different listing experiences in FireFox vs Chrome.

That leads me to believe you may possibly be part of a test eBay could be running with different versions of the image upload function as it's not uncommon for eBay to separate tests out by browser.

For example, in Chrome I have the display I showed in the gif above, and in FireFox logged into the same account it looks like this with the pencil icon to edit the image showing when I hover over the image.

eBay's been testing a few variations on this over the last few months, despite the fact that sellers have overwhelmingly said they don't like the changes.

@wastingtime101  tagging you here as well since this looks like possibly another example of what you have been seeing with the listing form image upload changes or at least related to whatever eBay is messing with.

And I'm still trying to find the link for the other - I think it was on the Selling forum but not sure. It would help if people posted screenshots so we could determine if this is the same design change as we've been seeing, or if it's some kind of error specific to Chrome/Edge.

So, to recap, I can't edit photos while creating a listing on my laptop and pc, the only photo option available is delete, no edit. I cleared cookies, rebooted and installed Firefox and the problem persists. I checked on my mobile device and I can edit from my phone.  I just want to list, **bleep**? Add this to the inane changes made to my ebay page to see my auctions. (In the past there was a summary that showed items with bids), now to find the same info I, select active listings, select "all filters", select "pricing format", select "auctions", select "with bids" THERE! Wasn't that easy? EBay changes are b.s  I am just trying to do some business and these unannounced and unwanted changes suck!

I am seeing the same thing as of tonight on variation listings. Trash can upper right corner will delete the photo. But you can still edit, there just isn't a pencil icon. I don't know whether it was intentional of eBay to remove the pencil icon.

To edit click on the image. It will open up the edit options. Some have reported throughout this discussion that it's hit or miss, but, so far, for me it's working every time I click a photo.

Liz if I go to FL I am stopping by to steal the manatee paperweight in your photo. 😁 My distracted self just knocked a pile o' papers off the edge of my desk ... again. It's nearly a daily occurrence. I need a bigger desk. Or your sea cow paperweight. haha

Preaching to the choir. Look at the link in my signature about how freaking inefficient these seller hub navigation changes are.

Whoever at eBay thought it was a good idea to force sellers to navigate nest within nest within nest within nest within nest within nest within nest within nest should be slapped with a smelly rotting fish.

Yeah, that's childish of me to say but I'm really tired of all this - and tired after a long day - so that's about as eloquent as I can get right now. 😂
