Variation Listings - change to listing form

Is anybody else hating this change as much as I am? Variations are now in a bubble cloud instead of a list. When a listing has a lot of variations it takes forever to look through the bubbles to find the new ones you added just so you can upload pics.

What the hell is with all of these time-wasting changes by eBay? I swear the people in charge of these things do not use the tools they are changing. If they did there's no way they'd move forward with this garbage.

@wastingtime101

Is this the field you are referring to? I do not see changes yet. I looked at an active variation listing in edit mode and also started a brand-new listing.

I also just edited a variation listing, and all looked the same for my listing....

Re: Variation Listings - change to listing form

You still have that easily readable list on the left side. Quick to scroll down and choose a variation. Quick to scroll down and see which have 0/12 photos.

I get this ridiculous abstract bubble cloud that's difficult to read through and makes the listing and editing process much longer.

I cannot stand inefficient changes that don't improve any part of the process!

Product development team failed with this.

Re: Variation Listings - change to listing form

I can only hope this change is only a test. I remember when the Unified Listing tool came out and I was so relieved that they had not changed this page...and now this piece of carp comes along.  I just bought new glasses to read the computer screen, and I can already tell they will not help with this abomination.

Re: Variation Listings - change to listing form

Yup, mine looks like that too. BUT, having just looked, I think I might like it better. Looks like it will mean less scrolling to and from the add photo box.

What I can't stand with variations is why the hill can't you drag and drop the photos in?!? 3 clicks and a scroll per photo.. Now that's inefficient. Mine usually only use 1 photo, I'd go bananas if I had to do 8 pics per like that.

Please pass this along to the product team responsible for this new design.

This change will be a real nightmare for me when (if) it rolls out on my account. Because my ornaments never come out the same every time I make them, when one sells I make another to replace it. I have to edit the listing and change the photos so buyers will see what they are purchasing.

All of those little bubbles are very difficult to track with my eyes to find the option that needs new photos. Many of my variation listings have 40+ options...that is a lot of little bubbles to track with my eyes. The list view is much easier to view for me.

For what it is worth, I just bought new prescription glasses, especially for viewing my computer screen. Just looking at @wastingtime101 screenshots of the new view I can tell my new glasses will not be any help here.

ETA: Can you confirm whether this is a new design rolling out or a test?

Good point because you can drag and drop a video so why not photos.  Maybe that is coming soon.  But as far as uploading multiple photos, it can be done with the same amount of effort to select 1 photo or 24 photos.  In other words you can select to upload 1 photo or 24 photos with the same upload.  It is just a matter of becoming a little more learned on using eBay and your computer.

Re: Variation Listings - change to listing form

It seems like this is off and on at the moment so it may become the new format in the near future.

When loading the pictures after about 20/22 variations I have to start scrolling up and down the page to select the next variation to upload pictures to.  You example you have near 100 variations showing without scrolling up and down the page to find the next variation.  To me that seems like it would make it quicker to load pictures but if it is harder to read then it may not be more efficient for everyone.  After you selected and uploaded the photos, does the bubble change color?

>> After you selected and uploaded the photos, does the bubble change color?

No. The only color change is to show you which variation is currently selected. Look at the screenshot I posted - every variation has 8 photos uploaded but the only one in color is the first bubble because that was the one selected/active.

>> You example you have near 100 variations showing without scrolling up and down the page to find the next variation.  To me that seems like it would make it quicker to load pictures but if it is harder to read then it may not be more efficient for everyone.

That's not accurate. It's 4 screenshots patchworked together to create a single image. There is a lot of scrolling involved to view the bubble cloud.

I'd argue that even though the length is shorter, the scrolling involved is more since I still have multiple page lengths to scroll through, but it's harder to find what I'm looking for.

Yes, there was also scrolling with the old format, but at least it was easier to read and lightning quick to find a specific variation and/or to find variations with 0 photos uploaded.

Contrary to McDougle, I do not use vision correction for reading or looking at my computer. So when I say it's more difficult to read and find each variation, that's due to the visual layout.

If eBay wanted to improve and shorten the page length, all they had to do was keep the old list format, but put it into a fixed height with a scroll bar. It would have kept the old functionality (as long as the window was decently long and didn't cut off after a dozen variations) and would also condense the page view.

Edit typo.

Thanks @mcdougle4248. We will get this passed along to the proper team.

Well that is very different.  That will make things more difficult without gaining anything.  Too bad they can not make the add pictures right at the bubble instead of scrolling up an down between the variation and the picture box.

Re: Variation Listings - change to listing form

No no no no no do not give them any ideas of adding an overlay (pop up) to that page! That would make things worse!

That's probably not what you were suggesting, but that's where eBay would go with your comment. They are turning everything on seller hub into an overlay. We do not want to ever see that on the listing form in any area. It would also be way worse if they did a hide/expand photos when you click the bubble. Do not want that, either. 😁

Re: Variation Listings - change to listing form

YOU'RE &*()*#$_(!@$%!892#)(^#@)%*(@&#%(_%#@$ KIDDING ME, RIGHT, EBAY??

Every single variation.

Look familiar @siamjane8 ?

Creating a listing with 12 variations and I have to deal with this bull on the default photos and photos for every single variation. Way to make a 5 min process take a bleeping hour. This is the most inefficient change - even more so than all the other recent idiotic function changes eBay has made lately.

variationphotos.png

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE - can you do anything to help us get this reverted kyle@ebay ?!

Why does eBay think it's acceptable to torture sellers that use variations after this bull was already rejected on single item listings? Here's an April 2024 refresher for everyone:

I cannot take this garbage in the middle of holiday! This big batch of items I've been planning to list this week? Yeah .... hello Amazon, you're the new home for all this new product.
