New feedback form doesn't fulfill function of evaluating sellers (Aug 2024)

The newest form for buyers to rate sellers' performance is inadequate.  It doesn't have a box for text about the seller, only for text about the product. It won't enable "submit" unless some evaluation is assigned to the product, too.

I differentiate between sellers and the products sold here.  The products often have expected flaws because they are used, or because the product is indeed terrible but it's the only one that fits a specific application.  Seller performance can be excellent in describing and shipping a crummy product, and I want to highlight that.  I don't want to recommend a product, say a used book, as terrific as if new -- that would be misleading.  I want to recommend highly those sellers who excellently packaged a well-described known-to-be-damaged item and shipped it quickly -- the product may be junk, but it is junk that I need, often to restore something to its original, outdated condition.

The new feedback form will not permit a "submit" unless there is data in the "product" fields.  It permits text entry only in the "product" comment field; there is no text entry region in the "seller" region.  So, I cannot leave seller feedback without leaving product feedback.

Sorry, good sellers, but with this limitation on recording feedback, I'm not able to properly recognize your performance.  This is unfortunately especially relevant to those conscientious sellers with hard to find, outdated, no longer manufactured goods, which I would recommend for use by no one, but which I often buy here.

It's all still the same; when it says 'tell us more about this item' you can state what you want ie

'thanks for the fast shipping' 

'item fit perfect' 

'seller was very helpful' 

etc etc.

So, the rating still looks the same in the 'feedback' seen by all.

The feedback comment is for rating the transaction with the seller, not the item itself, regardless of what the form currently says ("Tell us more about the item").

eBay has changed the form several times recently; it may change again.

I have not looked at the feedback section much since the June 2024 changes. I just looked today and the September 2024 changes are even worst. Personally I think ebay should make it so you cannot leave feedback for a sale and only buyers can leave feedback. For now I'm only leaving feedback for my sales when a buyer sends me a message asking for feedback.
