New Way to Check Out Doesn't Allow Me to Use Credit Card Bonus Points

I use PayPal to check out, but now instead of going to the PayPal page and selecting which credit card to use, which allows me to choose the CC bonus points too, eBay no longer takes me to the PayPal checkout page but instead directly checks me out. How do I stop that from happening?

You would need to click PayPal when you check out. Then Pay with PayPal. Then you'll be taken to PayPal to complete purchase. If you aren't seeing CC bonuses when in Paypal you would need to contact PayPal to ask about that.

I did pick PayPal exactly as you showed and it did not bring me to the PayPal page like it normally does where I could choose what card I wanted to use, but instead checked me right out.  It even bypassed my PayPal authentication process where they send me a text on my cell phone, and I have to enter the code to get access to PayPal. That puts me at an unnecessary risk.

Are you using the app, or browser ?I use the browser I never use the app to buy. I have never been asked to use a code unless I signed out or cleared data.

Go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

The next time you check out and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal account and be able to choose a payment method.

Okay, I am seeing two instances of PayPal -

Used for offers and auctions. Last used for checkout.

And then just PayPal and that is it. Nothing else.

Here's another workaround... go to your PayPal Wallet and select your desired card as your 'Preferred method of payment while shopping online' and save that selection. Even if it does go automatically, it'll go where you want it to. Good luck.

If you delete all your payment entries you may want to add at least one credit card so that your account's open transaction limit is not affected.

Hi thanks, but that is not the issue. I get bonus points when I use my credit cards. I used to be able to use those points, which convert to cash on the credit card's end, to go toward the payment on my eBay purchase. I can no longer do that if eBay immediately checks me out and doesn't give me the option to choose the card I want to use and the bonus points.

But how is that going to address the issue I am having? eBay will just use that to immediately check me out. I want to have the option to use the bonus points I accrue from CC purchases to use towards my eBay purchases. eBay took that option away when they immediately check me out without taking me to the PayPal page.

Deleting the PayPal entry will allow you to go to your PayPal account and choose which of your credit cards linked to your PayPal account you want to pay with when checking out on eBay, if that is what you want.

Adding a credit card to your eBay account just ensures you have one valid payment method linked to your account -- otherwise eBay may limit what you can purchase. You do not have to actually use that credit card when checking out if you have other options available, but linking PayPal to your eBay account directly is no longer possible, even though you can still choose PayPal at checkout.
