Ebay Summer 2018 view counter not working - views not showing - dashes instead

For about 2 days in a row now, there has been this intermittent problem on Ebay under active listings. It seems to depend on the time of day. The view counter is not showing view numbers on most listings. Instead it shows dashes. Before this problem, there was also another intermittent problem where the view count would show up as zeros instead of dashes. Something is definitely wrong with the view counter and I ask eBay to please fix it since this is a very annoying issue. It is impossible to tell how a listing is doing without the view count. Please respond if you are also experiencing the same problem.

I thought they fixed this for good??? Again this morning, counter not registering views no matter how many times I refresh the page...this sucks I will be calling again

I have been having the same issue for more than a month now, I called eBay two weeks ago and supposedly they are aware of the issue and that it was going to be solved in a couple of days, but nothing. Like you said, it is very annoying not knowing how the listings are doing in regards of viewing traffic.

Seven days have elapsed since Ebay admitted to this glitch and still no fix. What is worse, it appears intermittent and also not affecting all. This would indicate a deep bug in the code brought about by a update to the code that was not tested thoroughly before being released. Since it has taken this long and no fix has come about, either Ebay is not paying much attention to the problem or it is above their pay scale to find a solution. It also appears that other features are be affected in their system. Search was really screwed up on Sunday for about twelve hours before it "normalized" itself. This may indicate a virus - or - a intermittent hardware failure about to go full blown. I have noticed approximately 2 - 3 weeks prior to the current state of the system other anomalies such as slow speed and functions not happening until they are clicked  two or more times before they function. This current state reminds me of the giant melt down back in 1998 when the entire system crashed and there was no back-up (which Meg and Ebay lied to us and stated there was). All auctions and sales were lost throughout the entire system. Most of the rule changes and compensation we now receive in case of system failure came about at that time of the failure which was hardware in cause.

I am amazed that Ebay is not dealing more directly with Sellers (probably more direct with larger Sellers) and I do believe Ebay should compensate all Sellers and Buyers (this Bug also affects them) for the current problem but I doubt they will do anything other than apologize profusely and make up a of excuses.

Well, here we are at July 10, and the view counter still is not working, so much for eBay techs working on the problem.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels or thinks this way.....

It feels like ever since the site got issues with the view counter and such, that my sales took a dip. I was waking up everyday to AT LEAST bids on things and some sales...now it seems I'm lucky if I get a bid on anything. I'm an experienced seller and do have a feel for what works and what doesn't with the stuff I sell.

I know they say this doesn't affect sales, but no way all of us sellers complaining about the same thing and noticing smiliar rsults can be wrong.

It's giving me knots in my stomach knowing business isn't doing as good as it should over something that is so far out of my control right now......

Please eBay, if nothing else, can't you just revert your system back to what it was prior to whatever changes you made? This is hurting the livlihood of a lot of people on here, namely the sellers that helped make eBay so great in the first place.

My thought also was that it was deliberate. I thought it was a way to force those of us who still use the Classic Selling Overview page to switch to the new overview page. However, in another thread, many people said it's happening in the new overview selling page as well.
Why do you believe it is intentional? What possible benefit is there to eBay?

We have been experiencing this problem for quite a long time now - to the point that I check several times a day to see if things are better.  Up until this morning, the view count would either be non-existent on each listing or would show up very rarely.  In Seller Hub, the views have rarely been showing up as well.

To my surprise, I started checking my listings twenty minutes ago and randomly chose many of my listings and every single one of them shows a view count!  The views are even showing up in Seller Hub also.  I have my fingers crossed, hoping this is an indication the fix is being deployed today.

We sell mainly in Vintage Auto Parts, but have another store for everything other than auto parts and the views, which were not there yesterday, are showing up consistently now.

If eBay wanted to fix it they could but it’s been happening for weeks. eBay search engines are outdated and probably don’t work well.

in reply to befreetech i have had the same problen with the view counters for about a week now, thought it was my computer, talked to another ebay seller and he has same problem, hope ebay corrects the promblem immediately

I'm not listing until this is fixed. If I can't make any money, neither can eBay. I checked on my phone, and saw some view totals today, but still dashes on my laptop. Phone again, and the view totals are fluctuating up AND DOWN. Are people unseeing my books for sale? If this is a huge glitch, fine, but come on eBay, your silence is deafening (a lot of sellers are going to bail very soon).

ive said it before and seemed to get ignored, how ever this is only an issue with sellers, so ebay does not care and will take their time to "fix" the issue because they could care less about sellers. simple as that.
if you didnt know already, they do NOT care at all about sellers, its all about the buyers.
IF YOU WANT A TEMPORARY ANNOYING FIX you can download ebay seller hub, it will let you see your views again, how ever the new hub set up is terrible, so you have to deal with that if you want your views back .

July 11, 2018 and this is still showing dashes...................This is a real issue.  Spoke with Ebay said it would be fixed July 4, 2018 well that did not happen.  Thanks wanted to vent.
