I'm trying to send eBay a complaint, but all I can get is their useless chatbot. There's no way that I can find to send any sort of feedback or a complaint about their website. The problem is that their search system is now almost completely broken. For instance, in the model railroads & trains category, there's an old brand named Varney. Not all sellers put the brand name in the title, which means I can't simply search for "Varney" and expect everything to come up (only results that have the brand within the title appear, but some sellers list an item name within the brand category but forget to put the brand in the title). Because of that, I would filter the results down to the brand before beginning a search. As of now, that option is no longer available.
I am now only able to filter down to the top few brands within the category (which doesn't include Varney, BTW), but there's also now another problem. If I filter down to a brand and then try and search for something within that brand, the search automatically unfilters back out to all brands, and then I have to spend a minute re-filtering it down.
Recently, even worse, the search function is now often taking me completely out of the main category and will list every result on the entire website! Whenever I do just about any search, I have to repeatedly filter, filter, filter and further filter the results, every single time! It's awful! I can barely even use the website anymore! And on top of that, this makes it so that I can't even expect to find certain things anymore, and that's of course going to be bad for sellers if finding their items becomes too difficult because of a broken search system. The search function and filters were so easy to use a few years ago, back when I could simply do a search within any category, any brand, and keep any filters applied. I can't do that anymore. It's become a massive a headache to use this website. If the search function can just be fixed to keep applied filters while doing any searches, that would be a huge step in the right direction.
Am I the only one having this problem lately? Isn't there any way to forward my experience to eBay? The "contact us" page only shows generic categories, and even navigating through that doesn't bring me to a way to actually send the company any feedback. They don't even have a phone number anymore that I can find (the "call us" section no longer exists and simply redirects to the category page).

Im not sure even IF you could find a place to complain anyone would care.
It seems they just keep "fixing" things that are not broken and stuff that doesnt work is left alone.
Sometimes it is better to stop beating a dead horse and save your sanity by accepting that they want it this way.

I recently noticed the same problem in models and kits. I can no longer filter US only or scale. It makes it very frustrating having to search through so many results that are not applicable to what I am looking for. However, I don't know how to fix it.

If you are using a desktop browser and searching using a keyword, there should be a "Tell us what you think" link at the bottom of the search results. Use that to report search issues to page developers.
[I]n the model railroads & trains category, there's an old brand named Varney. As of now, that option is no longer available.
eBay's search will match keywords in the title or the item-specifics, so it may not be necessary for sellers to include the name in the title if the name appears elsewhere such as the category name itself.
Searching using keywords and browsing a category work differently; typically you will have more options when searching compared to browsing. If you are trying to browse an entire category, try searching using the category name as your search keyword(s). That works in many cases, though it may not work for some categories.
Here is a potential search without a keyword using the Varney Brand filter option that shows 1214 results at the moment for me:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=262301&_fsrp=1&Brand=Varney&rt=nc&_osacat=262301&_dcat=262301
I created that link by searching using varney as a keyword, then edited the search URL to remove the keyword reference. Surprisingly, that worked. Though it may not work for all categories.
A search using varney as the keyword of the same category finds a few more results:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/262301/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=varney&_fsrp=1
All the results from the previous search should appear in this search as well.

I recently noticed the same problem in models and kits. I can no longer filter US only or scale.
Try searching that category using the scale as your search keyword. Because of the way eBay treats punctuation characters as equivalent, it does not matter whether you use 1/25 or 1:25.
Then you should have the filter options on the left side of the page rather than just the limited options at the top.
A search for 1:25 scale models using the US item location in the Models & Kits category:

That is helpful, thank you.

You are most welcome. Good luck with your searches!

Thanks for the tips! I'll see if any of that works for now. Hopefully they'll get to fixing the website sometime with a better user experience in mind.

Well, looks like they undid whatever change it was that was causing problems. The modern system may not be my favorite, but at least it's functional again!

They've still got it broken, but in a different way...
Search results do not show properly. We were selling item 394918516190 at an average of @1.25 units per day until 7/19. We have ZERO sales of that item over the last 4 days. I searched for part number 13549506, sorted low price first, and it says there is one result... but three are displayed?? The first is a standard listing (from China!!) and then two sponsored listings, one of which is ours. However, it is evidently not truly considering ours a match. We should be first, being sponsored AND the lowest total price AND located in the US.
Not to mention it should say there are at least 3 results... I think there should actually be more. There are several others sellers who we were competing with on this product as recently as last week. I can't imagine they all quit selling it at the same exact time. More than likely their listings are simply not appearing at all. (Maybe because they're not sponsored?)
I don't know. I'm at a loss. But something clearly IS wrong.

Put your search item in quotation marks like this: "varney". Any hits will bring up a list of results and you can then drill down to the trains section. If there are no hits you'll get the message "no items found." Otherwise you will get tons of unrelated items in your search results list because eBay doesn't want you to go away empty-handed. Which, btw, sending me items that don't match my search criteria is stupid. For example if I'm searching for Gucci shoes but there are no Gucci shoes don't send me links to Converse. Thank you very much.

I searched for part number 13549506, sorted low price first, and it says there is one result... but three are displayed?
I see 27 results for that search that ship to my location, including yours:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=13549506&_sacat=0&_sop=15
Make sure you are not filtering that search or searching a limited subcategory. Try disabling your ad blocker to see if that makes a difference.

That explains part of it. Thank you @eburtonlab. For some reason eBay was defaulting me to one category only. (First time for that.) I'm guessing it's related to the changes they've evidently been putting in place over the last few days...? Because I never filter by category. (I don't care what category a part is in. I want to see every one being sold...)
Still doesn't explain why there is a sudden drop-off in sales, unless buyers are being defaulted to one category only too... I don't think we've ever went 4 days in a row without selling one of these. (355 sold in 288 days). Something is going on...

eBay will often steer a search into a particular category based on the keywords used and the category where the previous sales for those searches have taken place.
eBay has been doing that for a while now, but sometimes eBay will change the categories where a particular keyword points.
From time to time it is worth searching for your listings the way a buyer might to see if your items are listed in the category where such a search might be directed.
Some of those particular items appear to be listed in Switches & Controls, but others are listed in Steering Wheels & Horn Buttons.

Shop by Category no longer works!
It doesn't matter which category you are in. Your search ALL CATEGORIES.
Example #1: click on Shop by Category (upper left) then select Motorcycles, then the sub-category Harley-Davidson. Now search for "wheels", you get 4.3 million results (nothing to due with Harley-Davidson wheels)
Example #2: click on Shop by Category, then select Toys, then the sub-category Hot Wheels. Now search for "wheels", you get 4.3 million results (nothing to due with Hot Wheels)
This also applies to STORES or SELLERS. you cannot search on just one sellers items or in their Store only you search ALL CATEGORIES site wide.
So it does not matter what category you are in, you search ALL CATEGORIES.
You cannot drill down and search.
Makes it all most impossible to find items
