managed payments boycott

For those of us who hate this new ebay system. Boycott your purchases. Nobody purchase for a month see if they fold. I don't know about anyone else but this has been real sucky. It seems that I have to ship before I get paid. Also they outright lied to us. They said turnaround would be 2 days when it is proving to be 3-4 days. which means if I sell something thursday night, I don't get paid til the following wednesday or tursday. I don't know about you all but I feel really screwed by ebay. I have been on here for 20 years. I am boy\cotting. rally around this. Stand up for ourselves.

Mangled payments does suck but worse is the collection of sales tax by eBay for purchases that don't meet the sellers nexus for collection in the buyer's state.  When I see a sale that eBay collected tax on that is fundamentally predatory, I ask the buyer  if they're okay with paying tax on an item that's not legally taxable by nexus standards.  If they don't mind, no harm done.  If they aren't, I assist them in taking action to void the tax, to include sales tax on shipping.  Has anyone EVER paid state sales tax at a US Post Office?  I never have.  Getting more sales on eBid with lower fees and No Sales Tax Collected except for the state(s) where I meet the nexus.  Also my own website is getting more and more exposure.

You need to read up about the sales tax that Ebay is required to collect.

It doesn't matter where the seller is located, it's based off of where the item is being shipped to.

And telling your buyers if they don't want to pay the sales tax to contact you, unless you take the sale off of Ebay, they have to pay the sales taxe.

Have a great day.

Boycotts never work.   Anyway, why would buyers want to boycott?   MP doesn't affect them at all.

Actually, boycotts do work and work well, but they generally are the result of united public or corporate pressure.  I don't think that's going to happen here, but voting with your feet, so to speak, can work.  My boycott of eBay, were I to do so, would be simply to move my operations elsewhere and continue on.  I'm not going to, MP isn't any big deal to me, even if I do miss Paypal's free float.

Re: managed payments boycott

Well thank you very much! Not!! The very little that I make here, being a seller, helps me make it through the month. So if you want to boycott,  maybe you need to take your sales to another platform. Why put something so off up and maybe hurt someone else's sales?

For anyone new to eBay, it works. Do your due diligence and buy and sale smart.

I usually have a high tolerance for all of this unless babble, but not when you may effect my water or electricity payment of my bills.

Come on, step outside of yourself and take responsibility for your actions and feelings.

I am sorry,  but managed payments has zip to do with a buyer purchasing your items. The changes are based around sellers and the $. It is a business.

I have nothing but gratitude to be able to sell here. Btw...I sold books starting in 2007 or 6 under another user name and had to leave due to personal reasons,  so I do understand the evolution of eBay, as much as one can understand decisions made by any company.

If online selling causes you to maybe hinder other people's bottom line, maybe you need to find another way to earn your money.

Wishing you well.

If you were employed at any major business in American you'd have to wait 2 weeks to get paid.

Not to be argumentative..... but I put much more faith in PayPal's ability to keep their data base secure..... along with the feeling that placing my sensitive personal and credit card information in one spot is much more responsible than surrendering it to any site selling an item I'd like to purchase.

Re: managed payments boycott

Has anyone tried to opt out of ebay managed payments?  I don’t see the benefit of opting in. Ebay is taking a bigger cut on sales than the sum of ebay plus paypal in before MP period and giving me less free listings than before. Anyone managed to opt out? Did they get penalized with anything by ebay?

Re: managed payments boycott

The only way you can opt out of managed payments is to quit selling on eBay. And no, eBay is NOT taking a bigger cut from sales. A lot of misinformation going around.

May I ask why?  What makes you feel this way about the two sites?  Ebay has had financial info on sellers for years.  They have never had the financial info hacked in the 25 years they have been here.  So what is it?  Ebay is older than PP is, so they have guarding info longer than PP.

Re: managed payments boycott

I don't sell on eBay because I don't have anything listed today? Check my Completed Listings. Only been selling here for 18 years with about 10,000 sales. Just more misinformation!

Re: managed payments boycott

We also have to use our credit card debit card or bank account to make payment for shipping labels before our money from any sell transfer into our bank account, this is not good

I've tried many times to reply to your post, but I keep getting these flooding error from the community.  I'm not sure why.  brian@ebay

Once Ebay has invited you into the MP program, you have a choice to make, register or stop selling on Ebay.  While you would be allowed to sell a bit longer, it is not immediate, you will at some point not be able to sell on the site anymore.

I strongly encourage you to seek out and learn the facts of MP before you make this decision.  Clearly from what you have said above you are not aware of some of the facts that would be important for you to make an informed decision.

As to free listings.  Ebay has recently increased them.

First let us all be clear here.  They OWE you no "proof".  That isn't a requirement to post on these threads.  But with that said, if you had taken about 30 seconds to click on their avatar and look at their account you would see that your assumptions is wrong.  They are a seller, they are a current seller, they currently do not have anything listed, that is true but that doesn't mean they aren't an active seller.  Their FB page clearly shows they are active and in very good standing with their customers.  Their sold list also shows they are an active seller.  For whatever reason they may have, they just currently don't have any active listings.

Then of course there are some very prolific posters on these threads that use posting IDs.  So you have no idea if they are a seller, how big or small of a seller or how many accounts they may have.  Lots of things that shouldn't be assumed.

FYI, what they previously said is accurate.  If you have some specific questions feel free to ask.

Re: managed payments boycott

You do realize that the only unique digits are the last 4 right? Thats all a company needs to get your full social, the other digits correlate with birth year and location.....

Your entire argument is flawed. Etsy surly does have your full social on hand if they need it.
